Witness Testifies that FBI Used Mob to Coerce Information in Famous Civil Rights Case

For years, it has been rumored that the FBI used mob muscle to coerce information from a Klansman to locate the bodies of civil rights workers James Chaney, Michael Schwerner and Andrew Goodman, who disappeared in 1964 as dramatized in the movie “Mississippi Burning.” Now, the girlfriend of Mob hitman Gregory Scarpa Sr., has testified that she was with him on the trip when he was recruited by the FBI to get the information. She testified that Scarpa told her that he put a gun in a Ku Klux Klansman’s mouth to force out the information. She gave details of how and where Scarpa met FBI agents to get the gun and later receive payment.
