After being shutdown by President Bush’s denial of security clearance to his own investigators, the Justice Department investigation into the domestic surveillance program has reportedly re-opened. Of course, the most meaningful investigation would be conducted by the branch with oversight over such issues: Congress. However, both the Democratic and Republican leadership have guaranteed that no independent investigation would occur into the clearly unlawful program. Thus, the nation is entirely dependent on whether the President will allow an investigation into his own conduct by his own Justice Department. For the recent story, click here
