Former Kansas City Judge Released from Prison as Lawyers Face Charges in Giving Her Loans

Former Kansas City Judge Deborah Neal was released from jail this month in a scandal that has claimed the careers of various attorneys who loaned her money. Neal borrowed money from attorneys to feed her gambling addiction. Attorneys like James LaSalle were called into her Municipal Court chambers and promised fast payment. Now, at least eight lawyers are facing disciplinary or criminal charges. Neal herself was sentenced to 28 months and was released from prison just recently.
