Why do American politics focus on such irrelevant issues? A top aide drunk driving, a controversial pastor, Monica Lewinsky (still!?!) Chile has a woman president. She is a single mother. She has 3 kids - 2 from a marriage and 1 from no marriage at all. Amount of times this was brought up in her 2006 presidential race – ZERO! Why? It's irrelevant. Sometimes US politics remind me of the gossip column in the Post - it's disgusting (and not really 'politics' at all). Irrelevant! Why do American politics focus on such irrelevant issues?
