He’s No Muslim; He’s a Marxist: Tom DeLay Dares Obama to Prove That He is Not a Marxist

Talk about proving a negative. Former House Republican Leader Tom DeLay has said that “Absolutely, no doubt about it” .. . Sen. Barack Obama is a Marxist. In a sign of fairness, DeLay stressed: “hey, I have said publicly, and I will again, that unless he proves me wrong, he is a Marxist.” Of course, this is much like demanding that DeLay prove he is not a money launderer — the burden is usually on the accuser.

Much like proving that he is not a Muslim, there may not be much that Obama can do. After a lifetime in the Christian church and baptisms of his family was not sufficient to prove the negative that he is not a Muslim. After all, he could be secretly praying toward Mecca.

Like all Americans, I was alarmed by DeLay’s disclosure. It all makes sense when one considers Obama’s campaign of “change.” It clearly comes from Marx’s statement in Thesis 11: “the philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it.”

Then again, Obama seems pretty darned capitalist in many of his policies, including the use of a market based health insurance system. But, the burden appears to rest with him unless he wants to run as the first Muslim Marxist nominee for the presidency.

He could start by supporting the energy and tax legislation of the Administration that Delay supported, click here. Wait, that includes massive subsidies for corporations — clearly a form of Marxist ideology.

I got it. He could oppose farm subsidies — an obvious Marxist approach to crop production over market systems. Oh, hold it, DeLay supported legislation filled with farm subsidies, click here.

Perhaps he could issue a statement like “liberalism rejects ideological struggle and stands for unprincipled peace, thus giving rise to a decadent, philistine attitude and bringing about political degeneration.”

Oh, wait, that was Chairman Mao (“Combat Liberalism” (September 7, 1937), Selected Works, Vol. II, p. 31.).

Perhaps he could deny reading Das Kapital: “From the moment I picked up [that] book until I laid it down, I was convulsed with laughter. Some day I intend reading it.” Opps, that was Groucho Marx.

Hold on a second, DeLay has (1) supported government subsidies for energy company; (2) subsidies for farm production; (3) massive increases in government under Bush; and (4) campaigned against “liberals” trying to force an “unprincipled peace” in Iraq. Could it be that Sugarland, Texas is a hotbed of Marxists?

This is precisely what Ron Paul has been trying to warn us all about.

Why do Republicans get 6 & 7 figure employment opportunities to promote the same lies they were often times either convicted, indicted or under investigation of, while Democrats destroyed by blatant lies & innuendo disappear from “reality”?

    Some “Honest” Republicans of Note:
    Oliver North
    Karl Rove
    Tom Delay
    Newt Gingrich
    All the Watergate Crew

Some “Enemy of the Country” Democrats
    Max Cleland
    Tom Daschle
    Don Siegelman
    Harold Ford Jr.

What can we expect in the near future…

John Abramoff (sp?) working at one of the “business news” channels?
Scooter Libby getting his own daytime TV show, “Beastiality Court”?
George Bush at the Military Channel, cod-piece costume required?
Dick Cheney at the “Revisionist” History Channel?
    etc….

Leave that old bug killer alone. He’s got his own problems in Texas. Insults from him are like Britney Spears calling you sleazy.

  3. 3 jonathanturley 1, June 6, 2008 at 1:35 pm

Actually, Britney Spears called me Sneezey, which hurt a lot. Whatever resemblance I may currently have to one of the ten dwarfs, it was still hurtful.

Well, she’s no Snow White herself. So there!

    hans:

I am anxiously awaiting the Bush public speaking DVD, Condoleeza Rice co-hosting “What Not to Wear,” and Dick Cheney’s “Safety for Bird Hunters” video course. Add that to John Ashcroft’s appearance as a contestant on “American Idol” next year and we’ve got one heck of a year of entertainment.

Songs from Dick Cheney’s new CD

    So!
If you knew what we knew
    They volunteered
He’s the finest man I ever knew
I’m in the Executive branch, I’m….confused
We will be greeted as liberators
    I shot the…
    I did it my NIE
    Bake me a yellow cake
    Whose covert now
Home, Home in the undisclosed bunker
    West Virginia…Mountain cousin
    Don’t you want to win
    Have a Holly Jolly occupation

  7. 7 Hans 1, June 6, 2008 at 2:47 pm

Condi could also host that new show, “America’s Ports” given her knowledge of Oil Tankers and definitely keep Chertoff away. [I found an "image" of the ship, but it was so poorly doctored I couldn't bare to post it]

“Let the Eagle’s Soar” in the key of dwarfs mentioned above!

oh so many opportunities, speaking of which, will they read “Oh, the places you will go.” upon graduation from the White House?

Gitmo, The Hauge [sp?], “Extraordinary Rendition” Vacations to Syria, Paraguayan Exile Retreats ….

    :)

ps I always thought Jonathon was a serious fellow seeing him on KO, but this is just silly & I like it

Didn’t the Weekly World News close down? Last I’d seen, that Alien was taking Tom on golf outings.

    P.S.

    Indeed whooliebacon, very nice work!

What a hoot. Tom Delay is obviously desperate for publicity and to get himself back in the spotlight. What a poor specimen of humanity that slime bucket is. I see no reason for Senator Obama to stoop to Delay’s level to have to prove anything to the likes of Delay. If Delay wants to call him a Marxist so be it.

  11. 11 rafflaw 1, June 6, 2008 at 5:48 pm

Tom Delay was run out of Washington a long time ago and his opinion on anything except extermination of insects is worthless. I am still waiting for him to go to trial. Is that still happening? I think DeLay is worse than a Marxist. He is an enabler of every bad thing done by the Bush Administration. Therefore he is complicit in murder and illegal spying to name just two crimes.

  12. 12 nancy 1, June 6, 2008 at 8:32 pm

No way in hell is this woman going to vote for a clown like Obama that was sold to the stupid American public by Newsweek, MSNBC, CNN, & the broadcast channels.

Obama and his America hating wife can go to hell as far as us feminists are concerned.

Tp F///g hell with the Obamas.

  13. 13 country bumbkin 1, June 6, 2008 at 8:34 pm

Tom Delay took himself off the ticket in Texas.

The old saying is always so true:

When in trouble Republicans resign or take themselves off the ballot while Democrats in trouble get re-elected.

Makes for a pretty clear image of your typical Liberals doesn’t it? They will vote for anybody no matter how crooked as long as they are Demcorats.

  14. 14 Jill 1, June 6, 2008 at 8:40 pm

I hadn’t heard David Vitter was a democrat now. Thanks for the heads up.

  15. 15 Jill 1, June 6, 2008 at 8:46 pm

OMG, you mean Ted Stevens has betrayed Alaska by switching parties?

Is it really true that Dick and George will resign for lying us into war? WOW, you have made my day!

  16. 16 Flower Child Gone to Seed 1, June 6, 2008 at 8:51 pm

    country bumbkin:

Then why hasn’t Larry Craig made good on his promise to resign?

  17. 17 country bumbkin 1, June 6, 2008 at 9:08 pm

flower: larry craig said he would not run for re-election. By the way, just what did larry craig do that was so awful in a typical liberal eyes? Is gay sex wrong? He was castigated for it by you liberals. I guess I am confused. You want 100% of the gay vote but then demand gays resign from office when confronted over gay sex acts.

    You are so confused.

  18. 18 mespo727272 1, June 6, 2008 at 9:10 pm

    “…the stupid American public…”

Where do you hail from nancy–Lithuania?

  19. 19 mespo727272 1, June 6, 2008 at 9:22 pm

    Country Bumpkin:

“by the way, just what did larry craig do that was so awful in a typical liberal eyes? Is gay sex wrong?”
    ******************
Country bumpkin is right. Maybe you think “gay sex” is only accosting someone in a toilet stall for a quick dalliance within eye and ear shot of the public, or maybe you think that is just normal relations for anyone, but most of us do not. That violating the law by a lawmaker part may give some people concern but obviously that tired, old convention doesn’t worry you.

A little ignorant question now for you since you are manifestly a model of clarity and understanding: Do you simple country folk still marry your cousins, or is that merely stereotyping?

  20. 20 rafflaw 1, June 6, 2008 at 9:24 pm

I sense Niblet’s cousins are taking over Niblet’s blogging duties.

  21. 21 mespo727272 1, June 6, 2008 at 11:14 pm

    rafflaw:

Are those cousins then called “cracked corn?”

  22. 22 Bob, Esq. 1, June 7, 2008 at 12:52 am

“hey, I have said publicly, and I will again, that unless he proves me wrong, he is a Marxist.”

Denying The Antecedent, Affirming The Consequent

Thus the reason for the maxim “the burden is on he who affirms; not he who denies.”

  23. 23 mespo727272 1, June 7, 2008 at 7:16 am

    Bob:

Hey, I have said publicly, and I will again, that unless DeLay proves me wrong, he is a fool.

  24. 24 rafflaw 1, June 7, 2008 at 9:59 am

    Mespo,
I like the Cracked corn reference! Would McCain be the Jolly Green Giant?

  25. 25 rcampbell 1, June 7, 2008 at 10:35 am

    From Nancy:

Obama and his America hating wife can go to hell as far as us feminists are concerned.

    1) Michelle Obama, a feminist, never said she hate America and to perpetuate that lie only helps John McBush.

    2) Barack Obama is the Dem’s nominee because he won more delegates not because of the media. Remember that feminism rejects victimhood.

    3) If, as you say, you’re a feminist and thereby one assumes Pro-Choice, you might consider that the next President will likely name 2-4 Supreme Court justices and McBush has already promised the religious right he’ll appont conservative judges to help overturn Roe v Wade.

This is an historic election cycle that comes at a critical junction in American history. The impact of this election couldn’t be more important to this republic and it’s place in the world and world history. Please choose wisely.

  26. 26 Detroit Sam 1, June 7, 2008 at 7:03 pm

Nancy: Your comments demonstrate your intellect. It is not about you, it is about the country.

A concept you appear unable to grasp.

You can stay home on election day, vote for McSame, or stick your head in the sand. The world will continue on.

  27. 27 mespo727272 1, June 8, 2008 at 11:58 am

    Detriot Sam:

I agree with everything you said about Nancy except where she can stick her head on election day.

  28. 28 mespo727272 1, June 8, 2008 at 12:02 pm

    rafflaw:

“I like the Cracked corn reference! Would McCain be the Jolly Green Giant?”

I see McCain more as Mr. Green Jeans from Captain Kangaroo.

  29. 29 Michael Spindell 1, June 8, 2008 at 5:15 pm

    Country Bumbkin, Nancy & Niblet,
Is it 10 cents or 50 cents per E Mail that you get for trolling intelligent websites. My guess is that it’s 10 cents because the intelligence level of your comments is such that you must be dealing in quantity rather than craftsmanship. My further surmise is that you would lack the ability to troll for the higher pay, since that would
require to deal in content that would call for debate, rather than the ridicule you allow to be heaped upon yourselves due to the silliness of your content.

  30. 30 Michael Spindell 1, June 8, 2008 at 5:18 pm

My God! Just read my entry and realized that my spelling, content and syntax had fallen to their level. My petard is sharp and hurts.
