High-Caliber Christianity: Oklahoma Baptist Church Plans to Give Away Assault Weapon at Teen Camp

Windsor Hills Baptist had to cancel its plan to give away a semiautomatic assault rifle to a teenager because one of the organizers hurt his foot. While the church has been ridiculed nationally for the event, it is planning to give away the assault rifle next year instead as part of its promotion for its weekend youth conference.

Youth pastor, Bob Ross, insists that he was just trying to bring teens to Jesus by offering them a chance to own an assault rife. The event highlights shooting competitions on the church website. They has since removed the guns-for-God event, click here.

However, Pastor emeritus Jim Vineyard injured his foot and wouldn’t be able to attend.

It is not clear what the kids are shooting at in their search for salvation. What is clear is that nothing says Jesus like a smokin’ semiautomatic assault rifle.

To make this story irresistible, please tell me that the reverend shot himself in the foot literally — as well as metaphorically.

Note: Semi-automatic assault STYLED rifle versus Semi-automatic assault rifle. There is a difference.

    To a teen there’s a difference?

    Dundar,
Guns and Jesus. What a combination, because we all know that Jesus was a lifelong member of the NRA. It is much easier to turn the other cheek when you are holding a semi-automatic rifle at your side. I think the Good Book referred to the rifle as Jesus’ 13 apostle.

In deference to Bob,Esq and Paul Newman, I will only say: “I don’t care if it rains or freezes, ‘long as I got my plastic Jesus riding up on the barrel of my gun…”

    Raff,

It’d also be a much better miracle if instead of reattaching a severed ear he had reconstructed an exploded skull.

I read the gospel of Rifle. It was pretty good!

    Gyges,
That would be a hell of a miracle.
    Jill,
The nuns wouldn’t let us read that particular Gospel!

    “Windsor Hills Baptist church”

“While the church has been ridiculed nationally…, IT IS planning”

“he was just trying to bring teens to Jesus BY offering them…”

No typos left behind, I think.

Maybe they could hook up with the Westboro Baptist Church, and turn the guns on each other?

God is america’s enemy, dashing your soldiers to pieces. 4,119 dead. 29,978 wounded

They could call it a “Baptism by Fire”.

That quote by the way, is taken directly from the front page of the Westboro Baptist Churchs website.

I don’t know which is worse: a teen gun giveaway, or a raffle for a baby.

I love how you talk about something you know nothing about. The church did continue with the give away. The young man that just reacently joined the coast guard to protect your freedom. Freedom to protect you, and the crap you write. First of all consider your source and their slanted agenda. You might want to start by getting all the facts first.

You know, I’ve heard just about enough of “worship the troops” bullsh$t that I can stomach.

No ones protecting mine or anyones freedoms fighting for oil in Iraq. No ones protecting mine, nor anyones freedoms by occupying any other country in the middle east.

When our “freedom” is in Jeopardy, from anyone besides our own government, we won’t need flag waving clowns like you to tell us.

And when that happens, we’ll ALL be drafted into the fight, just like my father, and uncles, and their fathers, and so on. When a REAL war comes, we’ll all be “the troops”.

    Just like WWII.

As for the soldiers right now, I feel sorry for them.

I feel sorry for them, being used and abused by a bunch of greedy, oil barrons and being forced to fight for oil in a foreign land.

But none of it, has anything to do, with protecting my freedom.

Last time I checked, there is absolutely no country anywhere, threatening to or planning to threaten us with invasion, and “taking our freedoms”.

In fact, given it is common knowledge that we have the most technologically superior military in the world, its actually laughable to listen to you chickensh$ts cry about “keeping us safe”.

WWII was a war. WWI was a war.

THOSE were wars. Real wars. Wars nothing like the police actions and occupations we’re currently entangled in.

Those were wars where armies were threatening to overun US or our allies, and had declared open warfare on the United States or its allies, and it was either fight, or die. And every able bodied man served in one form or another, and everyone pitched in, because it was about us all.

What you, and that simpleminded clown you call a president have done, is bastardize the very spirit of patriotism, and sold it as a cheap ornament, to be clipped on our jacket lapels, and waved about at self gratuitous celebrations where we cheer on our own greatness, never bothering to consider what we think we have to feel so great about.

You’ve traded the American spirit for a barrel of oil, and the dim thuggery of a bunch of lowbrow bullies who prostitute our military strength and think they are doing to the will of God.

And the real tragedy in your whoring out the spirit of American patriotism, is that when the time comes when we need it, no one will believe you.
    :|

You’ve cried wolf one too many times, and you’ve sold our moral highground for your cowardice and our leaders greed.
