George W. Bush’s sentence-by-sentence speaking skills are deteriorating. Apparently, this may be due to a mental illness called “presenile dementia.” Bush may or may not be secretly still drinking heavily. Bush lied, and thousands of people died. Bush suffers from narcissism and megalomania. Moreover, Bush has been arrested three times. Bush was arrested for disorderly conduct. Bush was arrested for stealing. Bush was also arrested for a serious crime—driving under the influence of alcohol. There are reasons to believe that Bush suffers from a learning disability. Bush’s learning disability would explain a lot of things. All in all, Bush is a severely mentally ill individual. Bush is not fit to be the president of the United States.

There is a 4 letter word that perfectly summarizes why Pelosi continues to block impeachment hearings and that word is RICO.

Pelosi was complicit when she was briefed on the programs during her stint on the Senate Intel Committee. She cant act without putting herself in the same boat.

Just remember her outright lies come election time again. She ran on a platform of reform and transparency in govt, then recants and becomes as obstructionist as King Dubya..

Maybe I should have because both Portman and Leiberman have shown they care more about Israel than America. If I was only talking about Jews, I would have thrown Bloomberg in, but he's much more of a realist than those other two. Leiberman embraced a man that said Hitler was doing God's work!

BTW, Israel and Zionism is nearly identical. I know you read the story listed on this site August 4, about Israel restricting the education of Palestinians, to which I replied:

I did some research first because I find most US media suspect when discussing treatment of Palestinians, but the above article was accurate. The fact that only about 1% of Israeli Professors oppose the occupation shows that Israel will NEVER voluntarily make a peace settlement with Palestinians.

I would think that in Israel as in most countries, University Professors are among the most educated, intelligent and rather affluent people and if 99% don’t oppose the occupation, what hope is there for the less educated, average Israeli Jew having a conscience and enough courage to oppose an illegal occupation?

So you see why it is sometimes so difficult to separate Jew from Zionist?

Zakimar,
I think you have a hard time distinguishing between Zionists and Jews.

i.e. "

Why can’t narrow-minded simpletons distinguish between the evil of Zionism and Jews?"

"Be careful if McCain picks a Jew like Portman or Leiberman for VP."

Shouldn't you have substituted Zionist for Jew in that statement if all you're really talking about is the evils of Zionism? You intermix the terms constantly. I'm loath to call people critical of Israel anti-Jewish because I am aware of nuance in the general Israel/Arab
debate. I'm also loath to equate Islam with Terrorism and/or extremism because I'm well aware that it would be a false analogy.

In your tautology, at least expressed by your posts, there is no room for nuance. Israel/Zionism represents oppression of Arabs/Muslims. Ergo if you support Israel's existence you are on the side of oppression. You have many intelligent viewpoints, some of which I've
openly agreed with. However, I've little doubt that since I do support the existence of the State of Israel and I am a Jew, you see
me as an agent of oppression and intolerance. By the same token I as
someone horrified by the intolerance and sexism of most Islamic States don't equate those evils to Islam, merely its' misuse by corrupt leaders. I think my view is less influenced by propaganda and intolerance, than is yours. You see my understanding of ME history sees the shades of gray that color all sides, which I feel yours does not.

My comment about being "bad-ass" was irony. You're giving a lot of power, almost super-human power, to a group that, like any other group has bad-asses and not so bad-asses.

Jill,

People who have eczema are considered as having an impaired immune system, like Chemotherapy patients. Since the smallpox vaccine has some live cowpox virus (which is related, but much less dangerous, and better handled by our immune systems) people with an impaired immune system can have serious complications.

Big M; The politicians that fund Israel do it in order to get kickbacks that make Ted Stevens look like a Monk. It's a vicious cycle; politicians give Israel billions, then Israel funnels some back to AIPAC and the like who finance the campaigns of the politicians who support the most funding for Israel. And since the Jews play both the Democrats and Republicans, they always have the ear of the President. Leiberman even changed allegiances from Dem to Rep when it became obvious that most Dems (with the exception of the likes of Clinton) had no desire to bomb Iran for Israel.

If you think Bush was bad, what do you think would have happened if Gore/Leiberman were in charge of the US Military and Middle East policy? Israel would be getting $6 000 000 000 per year and there would be a war with Iran, Syria and Lebanon.

Be careful if McCain picks a Jew like Portman or Leiberman for VP.

There's a simple reason why Pelosi, and the rest of the congressional traitors, won't touch Bush. They all serve the same master (The Terrorist State of Israel), and 99% of them are completely complicit in the crimes of El Fascista Maximo. If they impeached him, all he'd have to do is point at them and say, "Hey, I couldn't have gotten away with any of this shit if these people hadn't signed on to every single plank in my police-state agenda, and voted to perpetually fund this genocide in the Middle East."

The state legislatures in this country need to demand, under Article V of the Constitution, a new constitutional convention, and pass amendments abolishing the federal government and the standing military. If the federal government isn't killed off, this country WILL be.

Gyges,

What is the connection with smallpox and eczema? On Day to Day (NPR really fluff stuff) they said the Chinese use "Doctor Fish" to treat eczema.

Jill,

One more thing I thought of. In case you guys haven't noticed, I'm a bit of a science nerd. I think the scientific process is the best tool for advancing both Mankind's knowledge and standard of living. Well your comment about getting stuff done ourselves comment has given me a good chance to plug something important to me. I strongly encourage everyone to volunteer to be subjects in scientific studies. You can usually find listings for current studies on University and Research hospitals websites.

If you're healthy chances are you'd be in a control group, which means that they just use you as an example of what's normal for what ever it is they're studying. As a control you're not having in strange new drugs tested on you, you just show up and have a few test done. If you've got whatever affliction they're studying this can be a good way to receive medical treatment for cheap or free. The studies are pretty heavily regulated, so the risk to you is kept minimal. Depending on the institution and study they sometimes reimburse you for your time.

This is something concrete that you can do to help your fellow man, and it has a very long lasting positive effect. Right now I'm participating in a study that will help develop a vaccine for Smallpox for people with eczema. My wife and son were involved in a study that will hopefully help us to understand more about how the immune system works during pregnancy and what sort of info is passed from mother to child.

I have called and begged. I have done everything, only to be told to run along and let the big boys and girls take care of everything.

I can't wait till her book tour comes here. I have a question to ask.

I think something we can do is make a committed effort to:

1. attend the book signings and every public appearance of pelosi
2. when someone asks the question about impeachment, and they get carted out, ask the speaker why she will not allow free speech, and back up that person. They can't arrest an entire room. I mean they can, but do they want that kind of publicity?

Oh, that's right. They control the publicity. It's TIME TO TAKE THAT AWAY from them.

Pelsoi, by the way, is one of THEM>

Jill,

In Ellensberg WA there's a town owned solar "farm" and the individuals pay a certain amount for the panels, which are tied into the cities grid. They then get a credit in their utility bill equal to what their panel puts into the grid.

It it obvious to more people than just me that Nancy Pelosi is obviously one of the people having her phone illegally tapped in order to intimidate her into becoming the spineless administration enabling failure of a Speaker of the House that she is. That crime is probably right in your face Nancy and you're too scared to do anything about it besides retroactively making it legal. Frankley I don't think that's legal.

Dave,

This is one thing I thought of. The Nature Consevancy goes out and buys land with direct contributions. Maybe progressives should do the same. Our politicians, almost without exception, seem bought and paid for by people who do not have this country's best interests at heart (to be charitable). Instead of donating to political campaigns why not donate the money for example, to the solar thermal plant in NV that, with the money, could supply most of the US electricity needs?

Why not invest in a hugh trust to cover every man, woman and child's health care needs?

These entities already exist. They are working towards progressive aims, why not support them? The political class doesn't seem particularly interested in solving our problems. Let them go ahead and get their money from those they serve. Of course when it comes to gutting the Constitution we need to find and vote for the person who is least likely to make that worse, but for many things, I say forget about asking, just go do it.

Don't know where all the craziness/anti-Semitic stuff is coming from, but thanks Mespo, Jill and several others for a good conversation above, especially Bruce who makes the analogy between losing one's parents and losing one's country when he says "we have to stop depending on them and start to take care of ourselves."

I've been very involved in the impeachment movement here in NYC but recently completely lost my bearings when I learned that Elizabeth Holtzman endorsed Jerry Nadler for re-election. Nadler is a powerful incumbent and a total shoe-in for re-election: he doesn't need anyone's endorsement. Attention must be paid when one of the most visible, eloquent and knowledgeable impeachment supporter (Holtzman) endorses the Chair of the Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties (Nadler) who refuses to let any of Kucinich's impeachment resolutions out of his subcommittee.

Sadly Holtzman is not the only pro-impeachment Democrat to endorse Nadler - Robert Wexler, Maxine Waters, even Dennis Kucinich have also endorsed Nadler. The sense of priorities as evidenced in these people’s endorsement of Nadler tips the hand of the Democratic status quo. What we see here is that Party Loyalty trumps everything else, and to me, this betrayal – there’s no other word for it - resonates with Bruce’s comment above. We have to stop depending on the Democrats, especially “progressive” Democrats, and start figuring something else out.

Discussing possible support for independents like Nader or third party candidates like McKinney invites a tidal wave of abuse from political realists, not all of it unjustified. But as a fairly informed, activist minded citizen, I really don’t know what to do here. The question of why the hell this country hasn’t demanded impeachment hearings since the publication of the Downing Street Memo should remain a vital issue for everyone who cares about the Constitutional order long after these two war criminals waltz out of office without ever having been held accountable for their stupendously impeachable acts. Obviously the corporatization of our government and mainstream media is a huge part of the problem, but as with electoral politics, what are the best ways to legally and peacefully fight back on the citizen/street level? If anyone, especially in NYC, wants to discuss this further I invite you to email me at drobinson@nycmail.com.

To (mis)quote a line from Gore Vidal: We were all set to investigate this whole matter but now Pelosi's too busy playing at being a statesman to be one.

I'm reading "The Golden Age," it strikes notes with very sympathetic vibrations to what we're going through now.

EC,

Do you have suggestions on how to file charges? This justice dept. won't do that. Bob Esq. addresses this somewhat in his post above.

Certainly, I agree with everyone who thinks a recall of Pelosi is a start.

Neither Bush nor Pelosi because the last time I checked America was still a democracy and if Pelosi was "recalled", the next Speaker would begin Impeachment proceedings right away. The American people may not have the power to impeach a President, but they have the power to not re-elect a confirmed madman, recall a traitor and not now have a virtual split between the next madman and some skinny, elitist, unpatriotic, Black guy.

I'll save the "historians" the trouble; the American People have done the most harm to the Constitution. And since the US still has a "democracy", the People are getting the Government they deserve.

Eight years of McCain please, and we'll discuss this in 2017, if the Government still allows Blogs and Internet access.

Impeaching Bush, Cheney & Co. would direct incriminating illumination on Speaker Pelosi herself and her Democratic cohorts in the Gang of Eight as at best willing enablers and accomplices in administration crimes and its epic strategic disasters.

Pelosi's infantile justifications deceive no one minimally attentive to the US government's antics. Lock her up with the rest of this repulsive mob of disgraceful foolish gangsters.

As recall, Nixon did not cooperate with the House Judiciary Commitee. There is a principle of law called 'obstruction of justice'. Those who engage in it may be PROSECUTED as well as impeached.

Robert,

I saw that quote as well. No american or person from any other nation, even if you want to think those people are complete idiots, deserve harm.

I noticed quite a bit of blood thirsty rhetoric in some of the posts. I find that disturbing. If you want to get away from a death and hate filled way of doing things, then you really have to get away from it. Just switching to another target won't work. This country has seen enought mindless killing and torture. No more-not for anybody.

If you want to get away from a death and hate filled way of doing things, then you really have to get away from it. Just switching to another target won’t work. This country has seen enought mindless killing and torture. No more-not for anybody.

dogismyth: "Instead of going to sleep and having a nightmare, these sleepy americans will awake to a nightmare. And rightly so."

Unfortunately, we few americans who are relatively awake are stuck here as well. No other country will take american political refugees (unless they happen to be super-wealthy).

I will second the motion. Pelosi and Reid are every bit as bad as Bush and Cheney. All of them have helped destroy what's left of our republic.

"Both parties were on the take for the 911 and Anthrax attacks. Billy GoatClinton funded the new pearl harbour attacks. Bush could not have done it alone in 8 months in office. Wake-up Doozzie america"

How's the new antipsychotic regimen going. Judging from your comments more work looks necessary. Good luck.

Wow! Go away for a weekend and a lot of crazy stuff happens! Pelosi has proven herself unworthy of her title as Speaker and as Congresswoman. Time for her to go. I can't even believe the stuff that she is spewing on the impeachment issue. Since Impeachment is off the Table for Bush, there is plenty of room on the table for her impeachment.

Sorry, My process got interrupted.

I was just going to say:

The important thing would be to get everyone to testify under oath.
Who knew what when?
Who did what?
Who said what?

We would doubtless see the “I don't remember" card played again, but - Oh well!

Maybe a better question for a candidate than "Why don't you wear a flag lapel pin" might be "How's your memory?"

george in TO; I never heard the term "Crypto Jew" before, but after researching it, I agree. I would call her a closet Jew but same difference. And of course Bush and the neocons couldn't have planned 911. As I stated previously, Bush/McCain types couldn't find their own asses with a flashlight and a mirror.
Why am I not surprised that one of the few people who isn't afraid to call it correctly also isn't American?

BTW, the Clintons are in the pocket of the Jews more than the Bushes will ever be, because the Bushes created their own wealth, with the help of the Saudis and other Arabs of course, but the Clintons needed the Jews as did Gore. How much do you think Rich paid for his pardon? And if you look at Gore's voting record, he ALWAYS voted to get money, contracts, weapons, aid... to Jews and to Israel. In the end, picking Leiberman is what cost him the Presidency. He lost his own Bible Belt State because he picked a Jew over ANY Christian. And we all see that not only couldn't Leiberman deliver the Jews in Florida, he became a Republican. Let's see if McCain is dumb enough to pick Portman.

Well she was given the power by the people, so then take it away before she gets critically dangerous. I thought having Bush for another 4 years was going to be disastrous (and it was), now we might have Pelosi for another 4. What a nightmare for the country.

I think all the wheels have been set in motion. I think Amerika is going to hell in a handbasket for the next 3 to 5 years. Its not going to matter who's at the helm. They're all bought and paid for by elitist.

I know thats pessimistic. Americans have had their chance to wake up and get angry about the corruption, deceit, murder, mayhem, poverty, neglect, fraud, robbery hoisted on them, but they chose to continue to shine their SUVs, suck down Aspartame drinks, eat like pagans, form shrines of their TVs, and expect everything they want using credit.

Instead of going to sleep and having a nightmare, these sleepy americans will awake to a nightmare. And rightly so.

Several months before 9/11 Bush gave Dick Cheney sole authority to be in charge of NORAD. This is the military's domain from what I understand. NORAD has never stood down when any and all airplanes have strayed or been in trouble in the past. But why did NORAD stand down on 9/11 when Dick was in charge? Enquiring minds want to know.

Our country has changed in the last 30 years from one where people were at least embarrassed to be exposed as lawbreakers, but the Republican revolution years have ended that.
No crime is bad enough that you can't find some corporate evil to employ you after you get your slap on the wrist. Oliver North, Ralph Reed, Spymaster Poindexter all of these criminals have managed to survive and even prosper after their treasonous acts.
The fact that the upside of subverting our constitution is buckets of cash now and even more later, and the downside is merely a delay in the paycheck is a guarantee that we will see more of this in the future.
Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are an instrumental part of the dismantling of our Constitution. Without their cooperation the Bush Crime League would be running scared and our nations future would be safe, but thanks to these traitors pissing away our heritage we are on track to live in a police state corporatacracy.

Justice delayed is Justice denied......Gladstone.

The war mongering criminals in the white house and their appointee
accomplices will never be brought to justice.

For the life of me, I do not know why.....

Is congress AFRAID? For what reason do they cower in the shadows
from the light of day shown upon the current misdeeds and corruption
of the bush administration?

Why not simply impeach Pelosi?

If Bush can't stand trial, then we can attack his symps and aiders and abettors. She clearly is HELPING him and therefor, should stand trial for TREASON just the same.

Pelosi is a treasonous, unAmerican pro-China Symp.

Pelosi must be RECALLED.

If found guilty of the crime of Treason against the State -- the punishment is Execution.

Pelosi wanted to the be the first Woman Speaker, now she can be the first woman speaker who was impeached, found guilty of Treason and Hung. Just not the way she had hoped.

I think she called her book "Know Your Power" because "Know Your Place: A Message To Americans" would have been a bit too obvious even for her.

There's no action on any of these issues because the D's and R's are united in treason against the Constitution and the people.

The old United States as we remembered or imagined it is over. The call is for everyone to contribute to and participate in the creation of a new political system.

In the life of every person and of every people there's the moment when we must face the reality that our parents are dying, and no matter how frightened or sad that makes us there's nothing we can do to stop it. The only thing we can do for them is honor their service, and their passing, and let them go. And before we can let them go, which is what frees them to open to whatever is next for them, we have to stop depending on them and start to take care of ourselves.

Each of these incidents is simply another reminder from life that it's time...and that we can.

There’s no action on any of these issues because the D’s and R’s are united in treason against the Constitution and the people.

Kennedy

It all goes back to Vietnam & Watergate. The convential wisdom is that Nixon's impeachment proved how healthy & vigorous the American system of government is. The fact of the matter is that Nixon almost got off. He was only brought down by a happy & improbable convergence of actors, institutions & forces. If any one of these factors were absent, he would have remained in office.

To give you some examples: What if Vietnam had not thoroughly shaken public confidence & trust in the government? What if Nixon had not taped his own criminal conspiracy? What if Nixon had had the presence of mind to simply hang the Plumbers & their higher-placed handlers out to dry?

Then there was the aftermath: 1. Ford pardons Nixon, setting the precedent for Contragate's resolution & most recently Scooter Libbey's get-out-of-jail-free card. 2. The Church commision inaugurates some feeble checks on the Imperial Presidency. They do no real good, but they inflame elements on the Right with the mission of reinvigorating the Executive Branch.

This was precisely Cheney's & Rumsfeld's & Addington's agenda: to undo the effects of Vietnam & Watergate --even before 9/11. With an Endless War on Terror to propel them they have cowed the press, broken the back of Congress & so corrupted & enlarged the Executive that we now live under an authoritarian regime, to put a charitable label on it. It is the Bourbon reaction to the era of Vietnam & Watergate.
