I think that it is most certainly wrong to try to force a child to marry a man of significant maturity in comparison to her own. I believe that if you are going to be in a relationship then the maturity level of the two individuals should be matched. I am not against arranged marriage, but I am against this kind of behavior. To suggest that means we have given up on over half of the population in countries that practice this abuse. I, for one, can never agree that nothing can be done. We must do everything possible to convince these countries that it is in their best interest to treat all of their citizens humanely and equitably. The world has a stake in what happens to women and children in every country. I realize that there is a long way to go to prevent this kind of result, but if we don't start now, it may never improve. I have a difficult time understanding this. Why any person would choose such an abusive and unequal status with another person is beyond me. How can anyone take delight in dominance over another, specifically dominance over a child?
