While I am not a McCain/Palin supporter, I believe her remark that there are places in Alaska where, if you look, you can see Russia, was made in the context of Russia’s proximity to Alaska and their competing rights and desires with respect to untapped oil reserves just off our own shores, and less about ‘ours’ associated with the environment.

It was an amazing skit. Tina Fey is a dead ringer for Palin and even had her accent down pretty well! The amazing part about the “I can see Russia from my house” claim is that the McCain/Palin actually is trying to claim that living near Russia makes her a foreign policy expert. You can’t make this stuff up. It reads like a novel.

Noticed that NBC legal already got a hold of the youtube link. Here’s the NBC licensed online site, although you will have to watch a 15 second advertisement to see the skit. (Worth it for the “I can see Russia from my house” laugh alone if you ask me.)
