DWI: Driving While Impolitic in Oklahoma

thumb_policeman_cartoonChip Harrison was driving in Oklahoma City when he was stopped by a member of the Oklahoma City Police Department for displaying a sign on his car critical of President Obama. The officer confiscated the sign saying “Abort Obama Not the Unborn” under the theory that the Secret Service might view it as a threat on the President’s life — ignoring that he would first have to be returned to a fetal state .

Capt. Steve McCool (no I did not make up this name) of the Oklahoma City Police Department said that the officer was out of bounds. He insisted that a supervisor “intervened and quickly returned the sign” and “Obviously, it was not a good decision to confiscate the sign.”

It appears that there will be no discipline for an officer who takes it upon himself to regulate speech of residents. Yet, I would suggest that at a minimum that Captain McCool sign the following song to the Oklahoma censor police:

ICE

You’ll laugh. Yeah, now you all better dig this and dit it good. No matter who or what is eatin’ at you, man you show it and you are dead. You are cuttin’ a hole in yourselves for them to stick in a red hot umbrella and open it. Wide. You wanna live in this lousy world? You play it cool.

ACTION

I wanna get even!

ICE

Get cool!

A-RAB

I wanna bust!

ICE

Bust cool!

ACTION

I wanna go!

ICE

Go cool!

Boy, boy, crazy boy

Get cool, boy

Got a rocket in your pocket

Keep cooly cool boy

Don’t get hot

‘Cause man you got

Some high times ahead

Take it slow

And Daddy-o

You can live it up and die in bed

Boy, boy, crazy boy

Stay loose, boy

Breeze it

Buzz it

Easy does it

Turn off the juice, boy

Go man, go

But not like a yo-yo school boy

Just play it cool, boy

Real cool

Boy, boy, crazy boy

Stay loose, boy

Breeze it

Buzz it

Easy does it

Turn off the juice, boy

Just play it cool, boy

Real cool

Thank you, Captian McCool, thank you.

We’ve got people driving around Indiana with “Ditch Mitch” stickers (our Governer, Mitch Daniels).

One could say that such a person wishes his body to be found in a ditch??

That makes as much sense as the Officer McCool’s reason for removing the guy’s sign.

Now that’s high quality police work! Ya know, I my last name was McCool, I’d try to live up to that instead of being a douche bag who doesn’t get that the First Amendment doesn’t read “freedom of speech only when approved by guys named Steve.” And how in the Hell did someone so obviously deficient in BASIC understanding of the laws you’re supposed to “enforce” rise to the rank of Captain? Whose leg are you humping, Steve-o? Your behavior is not just an insult to We the People’s intelligence, but it makes the whole OKCPD look like a bunch of hicks. If you’re a Captain, how stupid are the grunts? Good show and a fine example of why cops get so little respect. For every one doing their job as PEACE OFFICERS, there are 15 imbecilic jackbooted thugs like yourself.

Very Off Topic, but I don’t know how to send you a lead in any other format except commenting.

Please see the following and I hope you feel it worthy of some post:

    BuelahMan,

Thanks for that info. I’ve been noticing the increasing stories linking economic crisis and possible need for US military intervention in civilian affairs. NPR did two stories on this in the past few days.
” Around the world, unemployment is rising and incomes are falling, and it isn’t clear how long the recession will last or how deep it will get. The global economic situation is so serious that the head of U.S. intelligence agencies now says it has surpassed terrorism as the top threat to national security.”

    Buddah,

Good morning. I think that the Captain was the one who intervened and returned the sign. It was the officer who had his head up his ass.

    “Captain McCool”

Captain McCool was not the one who took the sign. It was one of his officers.

    chris,

I stand corrected. Hasty morning reading makes for a sloppy post. Thank you.
