While I’m in agreement with both your comments I would like to call attention to the 800 lb gorilla in the room. Where is the Mayor of NYC, one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the world? This guy has gotten great press based on his entwinement with the NYC moneyed elite (permanent government) and pretends to be liberal socially. The NYPD, while in many ways laudable, has a long history of ignoring bigotry in its’ midst. While this a problem that needs national attention, the solution is available more easily on a local level. However, the Mayor is a man perceived more by undue reputation, than by actual good governance.
