CNN is running a related story today about a 75 year Saudi woman who was sentenced to 40 lashes, for “mingling”: http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/meast/03/09/saudi.arabia.lashes/index.html

One of the two men who visited the woman in her home to deliver some bread to her, claims it was all “Kosher” because, after all, when the man (who is now 24) was an infant, this woman had breast fed him, which apparently under Sharia law allows the man and woman to be together, un-chaperoned, so to speak.

Apparently the cops did not buy the breast feeding excuse and he was arrested, as was the friend that accompanied him on the bread delivery.

Just proves that there really is an alternate universe, where black is white and white is black, where you can be stoned to death for talking to a member of the opposite sex, but just given a few years in prison for killing someone. I think I’ll go stand on my hands now, and walk backward…

Fundamentalist religion of every faith is the real abomination. It has nothing to do with piety and everything to do with the neurosis of the believer. While followers of these beliefs share a minor part of the blame for going with outrages,most of the blame falls squarely on the shoulders of religious leaders and their minions. Those who hold themselves up as teachers of the faith, or enforcers of the teachings, in reality are ego driven sadists. They have learned to temper their sadism by doing to others, what is too painful to do to themselves. They take secret delight in judging others, because they can’t face the true judgment of their own inner spiritual struggles.

Here is another religion with its law made into the law of the land and killing women for adultery,while this same government/religion only gives a 15 year imprisonment for killing a person. Women are treated like slaves here and in most major religions. This is a Taliban-like situation and in it women are an endangered species.
