Start, as always, with the Constitution but also see Scalia&#039;s dissent in Lawrence v. Texas.]]></description>

The Defense of Marriage Act signed in under Clinton keeps other states from having to recognize their marriages.  Which makes me wonder how a federal statute can trump the constitution?]]></description>
