"Notably, Frost asked permission to do to the prom and England signed a form allowing him to go, but threatened that there would be “consequences” for his decision. England noted “In life, we constantly make decisions whether we are going to please self or please God. (Frost) chose one path, and the School Committee chose the other.”

I agree with JT that if this was the school's policy, obviously it was and the parent's signed their kid on then they must abide by it. The above quote though does more to show the bare underbelly of these supposed Christians. The Principal set this kid up for this so he would have an example. The Principal might have counseled the boy that this is not what we do and so I can't give you tacit approval by signing the form. No that wasn't good enough, he signed the form to test the boy's faith and then punished him when it was found wanting.

The theory is the old "free will" one that some Christians dredge out when they need it, but forget when Revelations is needed to scare people. This was actually an exercise in sadism and "gotcha" by this Principal. However, the parents of this boy also should take some blame for having the ignorance to send him to such a place. Too late for them now to plead shock and innocence, when they had to know what kind of a place this was. Fundamentalism in any religion breeds evil, misogyny and sadism. It is all about power and control. Unfortunately "Matt. 7:1-5" as Mespo, quotes is only given lip service by Christian Fundamentalists because to take it to heart would only reveal their own sins.

"Jesus did not avoid trouble. He made statements such as, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me” (John 14:6). His statements didn’t make Him popular with the world. Can we expect anything else?"

**************

I thought Jesus said:

"Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment that you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, "Let me take the speck out of your eye," when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye."

I read this yesterday and was wondering why Principal England signed off on sending this boy's soul to hell. I think the school just sent off a cascade of rebellion in the mind's of their students. Good work(s)!
