Yes, This man needs to repent. He should pile high a burnt offering of new tires and place upon it the fruits of his scams–flashy diamond pinky rings, golf clubs and Rotary memberships. This sweet smell will placate Satan, who will then “disaffect” his wife from her new beau–the evil and soon to be even more, Dr. Bittar! Dr. Bittar will be wishing for that pre-nup soon enough.

My father was a car salesman and went broke with two dealerships. I grew up seeing the business from the inside.
It is definitely a Satanic activity and while I believe in bailing out the automakers for the sake of the workers, there is a part of me that gloats at them having been laid low.

You are both wrong. Haven’t you heard of Satan? Have you not seen his work in this world? Of course, I always think of car dealerships as the work of Satan (sorry to my adopted dad about that!) so I’m not sure what Satan was doing in this case.

I’m with Mike S. on this one. I believe that most states (including Florida) have abolished the old tort of alienation of affections. This cause of action is a throwback to the days when women and children were essentially regarded as chattels. Consensual relationships between adults by definition require a conscious determination by both parties. The suggestion that a person can be “induced” into infidelity is absurd on its face and insulting to the straying spouse.

Rafflaw,
When you marry a trophy wife, don’t expect miracles of faithfulness. That’s my take on this. Also I think its’ time to put alienation of affection statues to rest. They are in essence sexist, in that supposedly the people involved were not involved in the decision to cheat. No one is seduced without their own complicity.

Bob Rohrman is on TV here in Illinois every day with one of his ads. Even during the auto industry crisis, his ads never stopped. It would be interesting to see if he can be successful with a suit like this in the ultra conservative DuPage County. I am not holding my breath that he will win, but it would be fodder for the TV news here in Northern Illinois if he is successful. Is it me or does she look a lot younger than Bob in the picture Professor Turley provided?
