Woman Gropes TSA Agent

It is the modern equivalent of the “man bites dog” story. Every week, TSA agents are accused of groping old ladies or toddlers. Now, Yukari Mihamae, 61, is accused of groping a TSA agent at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix.

The agent alleges that the Colorado woman grabbed her left breast with both hands. The charge is sexual assault as opposed to simple assault. Mihamae now faces a felony count of sexual abuse.

It is a measure of the widespread opposition to the practices of the TSA that groups have sprung up to support Mihamae and to call for her acquittal. That may be unlikely because she reportedly admitted to the act and it was likely on videotape. Nevertheless, she has been compared to civil rights figures. One supporter proclaimed “She’s a modern day Rosa Parks, standing up to ‘Authority’!” Of course, Parks just refused to get up, she didn’t grope bus driver James Blake in Montgomery, Alabama.

As one who’s been on the receiving end of the Magic Wand Of Security and none too few gropes at the hands of TSA agents, I can’t help but wish for her release and acquittal. Not that I think that will happen…

    Good for her….

When such groping is done by a heroic agent of the state, it is called “acting in the line of duty”, when a mere peon turns the tables and performs the same act, it is called “sexual assault”. TSA agents can also feel up children, something that would immediately get a mundane charged with child molestation–there is something drastically wrong with this.

    The terrorists have won!

Truly the terrorists did win, most probably more than they ever hoped for

Surely the security area in an airport is officially a Constitutional vacuum zone, where normal laws involving breach of privacy and sexual assault to not apply?

    Why was this woman charged?

What if she said she thought she saw an explosive device hidden in the TSA agent’s brassiere, and was only acting in the interests of National Security?

Gotta watch out for those aging baby-boomers. There are going to be millions of them with nothing better to do than harass the government … it’s gonna get ugly :)

The “sauce for the goose” rule applies.

How are they going to find an impartial jury? Aside from TSA employees, every person in the country will be on Ms. Mihamae’s side.

Hurray for this lady. Was it a male she groped, if it was I would have tugged at his balls.

    BetteNoir-

In this case, “What’s sauce for the gooser is sauce for the grabber”.

“The agent alleges that the Colorado woman grabbed her left breast with both hands. The charge is sexual assault as opposed to simple assault. Mihamae now faces a felony count of sexual abuse.”

Mihamae definitely assaulted the TSA agent.

We can all debate (and mostly agree) on whether her act was assault, whether it was deserved, whether it’s good for the gander, whether the TSA goes way overboard.

But was Mihamae’s assault “sexual assault” or just assault?

This is where we go off the rails and enable authoritarian courts, legislators, and police to control and imprison us in the name of political correctness and pandering condescending, un-needed, over-protection of the women that institutionalizes that women are not the equal of men, and have to be treated differently, better, constitution be damned.

Who will vote against criminalizing something termed “sexual assault?” Who will stand against harsh penalties?

Tragedy of the commons, the commons being our rights.

She should tell the court she was checking to see if the TSA agent had stolen her iPad. I’d also like to know why the TSA thinks groping passengers is acceptable and not sexual assault considering it’s unwanted sexual contact. Unwanted sexual contact is unwanted sexual contact. That it is allegedly done under the color of authority doesn’t make it not sexual assault. It apparently just immunizes the perpetrators against prosecution.

    @ yesmyliege, who said:

What do you want? Duty free!

Government is getting too big to grope isn’t it?

    Can’t they take a joke?

  17. 18 It is All About Me 1, July 19, 2011 at 1:02 pm

If I had been the TSA I would have taken her back and shown her everything. That just sounds so exciting.

  18. 19 robin theis 1, July 19, 2011 at 4:30 pm

What you idiots don’t want to admit is that the TSA does not grope anyone. They do professional searches without touching private parts…guaranteed! This is just your way of justifying this crazy women’s act of assault. She deserves to be charged with assault on a Federal officer and she still may be. I can only hope!

  19. 20 Robin H= NYC 1, July 19, 2011 at 7:15 pm

lmao @ robin theis sure they do and making a 90 yr old woman take off her diaper is also professional. fyi it isnt the muslim terrorist we need worry about. ITS THE GOVERNMENT OF THE COUNTRIES. and the bankers who get paid billions from the wars that we need to watch out for. could i prove all im saying and more. heck yes i can should I? not to idiots like you. who has yet to sit down and wonder exactly how a bunch of so called muslims managed to hijack 4 planes with weapons in the first place. how exactly did they get past security.

i mean let’s think about this now!!?? planes have been getting hijacked since??? and up until 9/11 we had no security in the airports to prevent any more planes from being hijacked? only a true idiot would not sit down and do some serious research on that
