Note to Self: Finish First, Celebrate Second

CIV race leader Riccardo Russo thought the race was over. He proceeded to celebrate as every other competitor passed him by.

Yamaha Team Italia FMI rider Russo tried to get back into the race. However, he came in 14th. The 2012 Italian CIV championship was won by Alessandro Nocco.

Ah, another real-life case of what Keith Olbermann refers to as “premature jocularity.”

Much as Obama supporters are celebrating the beginning of his second term in July, five months before the election. I have made myself unpopular several places by reminding them of the running back for the San Diego Chargers who was so elated by scoring a touchdown that he spiked the ball on the five yard line. “Cross the goal line, people,” I am advising, “before you start the victory dance.” I’ve actually been banned from one blog for being a “Romney-loving troll.”

This is good advice for climate change deniers too:

As of Tuesday, about 61% of the contiguous United States (excluding Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico) was experiencing drought conditions … That has left 1,016 counties in 26 states termed as natural disaster areas, the Department of Agriculture said this week.

(CNN). That is about a third of the counties, and over half of the states.

So much for the crops (food). Wisconsin is experiencing the worst drought in decades. State of emergency declared so they can divert water from rivers, streams and lakes.
