Chinese Man Awarded Settlement After Charging That Wife Bore Him An Ugly Daughter And Concealed Her Own Prior Plastic Surgery

There is a bizarre case out of China were a man, Jian Feng, was awarded $120,000 (£75,000) in a court settlement after alleging that his wife did not reveal that she had had cosmetic surgery — a fact that he said he discovered when she had an ‘incredibly ugly’ child.

Jian Feng said that his wife tricked him into believing that she was a natural beauty but his daughter revealed that she was not. He insisted that “Our daughter was incredibly ugly, to the point where it horrified me.” Nice.

What I fail to understand is the basis for the lawsuit, even in China. He reportedly alleged that his wife cheated on him (I can’t imagine why) and that the child looked like neither of its parents. Putting aside the assumption that a marriage can be premised on looks, his argument on the infidelity seems to contradict his argument on heredity.

He was granted a divorce in addition to the settlement.

  1. Actually the woman makes up in smarts what she originally lacked in looks. She was probably the better catch of the two since her husband apparently had NO smarts at all. Look, women have been making themselves look more attractive to the opposite sex for many thousands of years. Dont’cha think Jian, with all the thousands of years of Chinese history at his disposal, would have been able to figure that out unless he was just plain stupid? I suppose he could have if he had been near average intelligence. His wife should counter sue him for being such a lout masquerading as a competent person. She would probably be awarded twice as much as he was awarded.

  2. Darren Smith, I think the guy’s a bit worried that perhaps his genes weren’t…ugly enough. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!

  3. It would be interesting to see what this dude looks like. As the saying goes, If a man doesn’t look like Brad Pitt, he has no right to expect a woman to look like Angelina Jolie.

  4. Malisha,

You are of course correct. Explaining a societal problem in terms of economy works only for greed.
In China they have no religions based on Abraham’s culture.

So I stiil need more tiem to study. My purpose only being to relate customs, however repulsive we find them, to being based in need.

Abandoning my supercilious voice, I hope you feel better soon.

  5. I wonder if the damage award was reduced by 1/2 due to his contributory negligence of providing half the genes to the daughter.
