Boxer Aide Arrested for Child Pornography

220px-barbara_boxer_2005Jeffrey P. Rosato, a senior aide to Boxer and a senior policy adviser on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, was fired after his arrest for the distribution and receipt of child pornography. He is only the latest of government staffers to become entangled in such investigations.

Rosato was arrested last Friday and charged with one count each of receipt and distribution of child pornography. According to an FBI affidavit, an unnamed person “distributed more than 600 files containing graphic images and movies of child pornography to an undercover detective that [Rosato] believed was a 13-year-old boy.” He allegedly had over 15 online chats over a three-week period in January.

This follows the arrest and firing of a James Michael McHaney, an aide to Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.). McHaney, 28, was sentenced to three years in prison on a federal charge of possession of child pornography.

Then there is Brian Doyle55, from the Department of Homeland Security who was arrested for seven counts of use of a computer to seduce a child and 16 counts of transmission of harmful material to a minor.

  1. I can attest to another motivation for entering government employment besides a desire to perform public service – ‘automatic’ power.

    It comes with the job.

  2. Has anyone ever done a study to determine the conection of government jobs to the liklihood of being a pedophile? This is a litle nuts. I am a litle surprised at the law enforcement emphasis on this problem. Can’t these people just stick to adult pornography like everyone else?
