The Bush Administration previously told a federal court that there were two tapes of interrogations destroyed showing waterboarding and other brutal treatment of detainees. It has now admitted that at least 92 tapes were destroyed in what appears a clear and knowing effort to destroy evidence.
In a letter to a federal court in New York, Acting U.S. Attorney Lev Dassin admitted that “The CIA can now identify the number of videotapes that were destroyed. Ninety two videotapes were destroyed.” That is just 90 tapes more than what the CIA previously told the court.
As discussed earlier, CIA officials ordered the destruction to “minimize legal issues.”

That is interesting news about the case against Dick Cheney. I expect that he will lie under oath and it will be the testimony of Secret Service agents or someone else “inside” at the time, that will expose Cheney’s words as lies. These 9 memos that have been disclosed are significant in that they are additional evidence of what a lot of us who blog here have been saying for quite some time. Bush and Cheney were running a quiet dictatorship and threw the Constitution out the window in the process. How can someone like John Yoo be allowed to teach future lawyers the Law, when he was doing his best for years to supercede it?
