Lisa Snyder has been finally stopped. Because some parents in her neighborhood have to go to work before the bus picks up their kids in front of Snyder’s house, Snyder watches three children in Middleville, Michigan for the 15 or so minutes while they wait. The Michigan Department of Human Services has now filed a complaint against her for illegally operating a child care home.
When the Department received a complaint, they told Snyder to get a license if she wanted to watch the kids at the bus stop or face formal charges.
Mother Mindy Rose insisted that she is a “friend.” Really Mindy? Or are you just one more enabling parent who is encouraging these types of opportunistic, predatorial acts of kindness. Do you think that block parties and other scourges of society just happen, Mindy? No, it starts with parents like you and Snyder, the child watcher.
The DHS insists that they are just protecting Michigan’s children. It is a cautionary tale for us all. If it were not for the people at the DHS, we could see an outbreak of neighbors venturing out of their homes to watch and protect neighborhood children. Not only would this be horrific for pedophiles and felons, but it would only encourage the creation of neighborhood ties and associations that are the bane of our collective existence. Lisa Snyder is a menace and should be stopped. Thank God for the thin line of DHS investigators to keep neighbors apart.
This is not the first such act of brilliance by the Michigan DHS as shown in this other remarkable case.

Again. Civilian review boards, heavily armed, with powers to arrest state and local police, prosecutors, judges, and various officials. They would have the final say over cases, and situations like this.
There should be a open public record at DHS identifying the neighbor who filed the complaint. Let’s find out who that person is and what axe they have to grind. Has anyone searched the records for pedophiles living in the neighborhood or at DHS ? The children are safer at a parents home waiting for the school bus than waiting at a bus stop alone.

I live in said school district. I am basically a Mr. Mom with a very small business that I attempt to keep going in this economically challenged state of Michigan. Yes, I am married with two young daughters and a wife who has a very lucrative business.
So, the “play dates”, “slumber parties”, “pool parties” (yes, we have a pool that is used extensively throughout the warm months) are illegal? I have even taken friends kids to school and picked them up for school.
This government has nudged, pushed and shoved us closer to the treshold of somebody breaking. Come and get me. I am waiting.
I think people need to help people out when they can. That’s what’s wrong with this world no a days. It’s all about me, me, me….it’s not about us anymore. People have been doing this for years and will ALWAYS do this. It is not the states or anyones business. And as for that neighborhood who made the complaint….how do you sleep at night? We need more people to help with our children like that lady did. Alot of people can not afford to pay for school care etc. We have losy jobs, single households etc.
This is just another why for the state to get money. They really don’t give a flying F— about the kids…it’s all about the dollar.
tmaxPA…do YOU live in middleville or Michigan? It sounds to me like you have a problem with people in general! Get a note from the parent that gives you permission to treat their child if anything should happen in those 10 minutes they are waiting for the bus. Friends…everyone should have them!!! And if you can’t trust them then who can you!?! Mean neighbors who like nobody cause problems like this…if you don’t like people find some land far away from everyone else and keep your grumpy attitude to yourself!
So when do we as parents have the right to determine what’s best for our own children? As for the DHS comment, “tell the parents to buy and umbrella.” Really? Now that sounds like a system that cares! So they are fine to stay out there alone with an umbrella but not in her house with a adult supervising? There are so many things wrong with our system!
DHS is underfunded and understaffed like most state agencies. They probably are not all that excited about enforcing this stupid complaint. Unfortunately, they have the unenviable task of enforcing state law, even when it is unreasonable, until a legislator steps up and changes the law. “Bureaucrats” in state agencies do not make law and cannot change law. If you want this to change, yell at the legislators who created the flawed law and tell them to change it NOW!

Are you kidding me!!!!!! They are only dropping kids off at a designated bus stop per Middleville school distric who happens to also be a friend and not caring for the child. Like millions of other parents do in this world. IT IS A BUS STOP LIKE EVERY OTHER BUS STOP IN THE US!!!!!!!! GET OVER IT!

No but in 1998,9 in NYC I was responsible for reforming the practices and policies of the Human Resources Administration’s Child Care Agency and personally wrote a five year Corrective Action Plan in order to save NYC $40 million in possible sanctions from NY State. Besides that I worked 32 years for NYC/HRA both in welfare and child abuse so I have some knowledge of the field. With 23 years as an executive. Also below there is a link to a form she would have to fill out today if she applied in NYC. It’s a 12 page form and each answer would be checked out by an appropriate worker and further information and/or proof required. So I am not unknowledgeable in this field even though I don’t live in Michigan.

Doesn’t Michigan DHS in Middleville have more pressing situations to assess?
Or is this excuse for an intervention just a cover-up to maintain the precious jobs of caseworkers.
There are rumors in some states that DHS, CPS caseworkers make- up complaints just to keep their positions.
Wouldn’t most folks love to ensure their job security that way.

I observed that photo and that woman in red peddle-pushers seems fine to be. Now, had it been a man a’warin’ those p-pushers them my LEO instincts might have kicked in and I might have been concerned with those youngsters. However, I still would not have called DHS.
There are people doing this all over. But they don’t get complaints filed with DHS about it. If nobody complains, there is no way any DHS bureaucrat would get involved. But once a complaint is filed, they have to. I’d love to know what the complaint was. Was it another jealous neighbor whose kids she wouldn’t watch? Was she charging money?
