Vatican’s Chief Exorcist Claims Devil Is Gaining Ground Within the Church

The Vatican’s Chief Exorcist, Father Gabriele Amorth, 85, has gone public with an allegation that “the Devil is at work inside the Vatican.” He also reveals that the devil has a playful side and often mocks him.

Father Amorth says that he has handled 70,000 cases of demonic possession and sees satanic influences in the Church, including “cardinals who do not believe in Jesus, and bishops who are linked to the Demon.”

What is interesting is that he not only cites the abuse cases but what he calls the “cover-up” in the 1998 death of Alois Estermann, the then commander of the Swiss Guard, who was found with the bodies of his wife and Corporal Cedric Tornay, a Swiss Guard. The Church quickly closed the case, finding that Corporal Tornay shot the commander and his wife and then turned his gun on himself after being passed over for a medal. However there has long been a belief that there was a homosexual relationship and that a fourth person was involved. Last week, the Vatican was rocked by another scandal involving gay liaisons, here.

Father Amorth sees the devil behind everything from the mentally disturbed woman who threw herself at Pope Benedict XVI at the start of Midnight Mass to corruption in the church. He explains that the devil is “pure spirit, invisible. But he manifests himself with blasphemies and afflictions in the person he possesses. He can remain hidden, or speak in different languages, transform himself or appear to be agreeable. At times he makes fun of me.”

He previously warned against reading J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter novels but he likes the 1973 film The Exorcist.

He is the president of honor of the Association of Exorcists. The association’s conventions must be a gas.

No doubt the Church Lady is often present at such gatherings:

  1. Anon nurse, given the form of precipitation forecast, perhaps an asbestos lined stainless steel umbrella would be in order.

Ever since I first heard a hellfire and brimstone evangelical preacher ranting as a youngster, I have had this fantasy of a giant lightning bolt coming through the ceiling and striking the preacher in mid-rant.

  2. CWFG and Katherine.

Your concern is duly noted. I have a suggestion. You live your lives and let others live theirs as they see fit. That sounds like workable plan.

  3. For all of you doubters, I feel bad for you. You know so little about what you are. You are the creation of something so beautiful and yet you insist on making fun of those who would speak of things that sound strange. You are so intent on answering to yourselves that you misread things. You overlook flaws in your beliefs. I have battled your ways for a while and tiresome I have become. I insist that you bow before the God above a beg, because you need a word. You need Him. Sorry for anything that I have said that insults you, I only speak if what I have learned and what I have seen and felt. God bles you.

  4. CELTIC WARRIOR FOR GOD,

The name what a contradiction, when was the conversion of the klan? Even though the Celt’s language is older than the Organized Church it is not a race or ethnic origin. It is a language which, if I recall started after the shift from Egypt. What nationality are you and when was the actual conversion of your soul? I see you are trying to give everyone here the sole….
