Japanese Police Arrest Three Men For Unlicensed Provision of Coffee Enemas

We have often followed torts and criminal cases alleging different forms of professional practice without a license. This one, however, is a bit of a surprise. Chikayoshi Hishiki, 55, and two associates were arrested for violating Japan’s Medical Practitioners Law by providing coffee enemas without a license.

The enemas are billed as a beauty treatment. In the United States, they are not considered a medical treatment. An undisclosed stool pigeon called police, leading to the arrests.

  1. Hey there! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice
from an established blog. Is it very difficult to set up
your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast.
I’m thinking about setting up my own but I’m not sure where
to start. Do you have any ideas or suggestions?
    Many thanks

I like the Starbucks idea! How about the Dunkin Donuts line, “America runs on Dunkin”? Takes on a whole new meaning with this latest coffee use!

  4. Yikes! I must have led a sheltered life. I did not know that coffee could be used in such an disgusting manner! I can maybe understand the colon cleansing theory, but getting coffee shot up your backside as a beauty treatment just amazes me. People sure are gullible.

  6. Was the stool pigeon at least sent for analysis? You never know when you might find an undiagnosed colon cancer. 🙂

  7. These enemas are quite common in L.A. where people are into colon cleansing.[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHttmR3YEpI&fs=1&hl=en_US]

Lottakatz beat me to the punch. Very clever…

  11. From the article: “Hishiki insists that nothing untoward occurred. He admits that while he helped the patients prepare for the enema and assisted in the cleanup afterwards, the patients administered the enemas to themselves.”

A do-it-yourself enema? I don’t want to picture THAT in my mind!

  13. _Unlicensed_ coffee enemas … as opposed to the perfectly acceptable, licensed variety…. Suggests a new understanding of the “lost decade.”
