Bus Driver Charged With Sending 1,068 Text Messages While Driving

– Evelyn Guzman, 47, a school bus driver in Connecticut, may have set something of a record. She has been criminally charged after a video showed her sending over 1,000 text messages while driving. Her daughter has also been charged in the abuse of a little girl


According to the article below, the video was the result of a ten-month investigation into ” an assault complaint regarding the school bus monitor, Guzman’s daughter Jennifer Davila.”

Guzman is now charged with risk of injury to a minor and second-degree reckless endangerment.

Police made the arrest after a 10-month investigation that stemmed from an assault complaint regarding the school bus monitor, Guzman’s daughter Jennifer Davila. A nine-year-old autistic girl repeatedly came home with bruises. Davila was charged with assaulting the child.

    With luck it will be self-limiting, abuse of a disabled child (if that’s the charge and she’s found guilty) will put the daughter away for awhile; at least she won’t breed while incarcerated.

  9. Does it really matter if the person receiving the text message was aware of the person driving a school bus? One wonder where stupid stops and starts.   12. What could one say that could not wait until stopped at a light….hell even the school zone is safer….at least you are supposed to only go 15 to 20 mph…..yeah right….its still a criminal offense to do so in Texas and up to a 500 dollar fine….

  13. If she gets time, she will not be able to take her cell phone or Blackberry with her. That will undoubtedly trigger texting withdrawal. I can envision her curled up in the corner, fetal position, shaking and sweating profusely. She will cry out as she has chills and headaches as she hallucinates. I understand texting withdrawal is pretty bad, possibly worse than opiate withdrawal. :-/
