“The Mystery Emails”: State Department Report References Key Emails That Were Not Previously Turned Over [UPDATED]

The interview lacks questions on most of the contradictions that we discussed and Clinton insists that the report actually vindicates her — a truly breathtaking spin. Unfortunately, the reporter seemed to move as quickly as possible away from the report to turn to Donald Trump — with no follow up questions. However, there is a far more intriguing issue raised by the emails discussed in the report. Some of the emails revealed that Clinton believed that her personal, unsecure server had been hacked and she stated her desire to use a separate system to protect her personal emails from review — both serious contradictions to prior statements. Yet, the November 2010 reportedly was not among those turned over to the State Department. Indeed, at least three emails had not been seen before. Clinton previously insisted that all work related emails were turned over while her staff deleted personal emails.


Now 14 months later, the concerns over the criteria and motivations of the Clinton staff in deleting emails have been magnified since these emails were clearly work related. They appear to have come from the four former top Clinton aides after the State Department reconstructed communications lost by the prior deletions. It is not clear why (if these emails were not turned over) the State Department did not address their deletions or withholding in the Clinton emails.

What is particularly concerning are the prior demands for production from the Senate. Senate investigators say that they were never given these highly material emails. Thus, even though they would feature prominently in the State Department report, they were never turned over to the Senate. So there is the question of whether Clinton turned over the emails to the State Department and the additional question of why the emails were not turned over to Congress.

The emails were from one of the four key aides: Clinton’s former chief of staff, Cheryl Mills, and top aides Huma Abedin, Jake Sullivan and Philippe Reines. Abedin authored the key email in November 2010 that provoked Clinton’s concerns about outsiders obtaining her personal emails. Clinton tried to send the email to all department employees but it was blocked by the spam filter because she was using a personal server. Abedin suggested using an official email or make her private address available to the agency. Clinton said that she didn’t want “any risk of the personal being accessible.” Clinton never agreed to use an official State Department address despite being told of the risks of using private emails.

The “mystery emails” have caused a stir in the Senate and some media.  

Update: the State Department is now saying that it does not know why the emails were not included in those turned over by Clinton. That is a rather matter-of-fact admission given the representation that all work-related emails were turned over and not deleted.  That would also be a serious violation of the rules governing federal records.  Yet, there appears little follow up by reporters on the issue and a surprising failure of the State Department to raise the question of whether the emails were “scrubbed” by Clinton staffers to delete such potentially incriminating or embarrassing emails.

    If you refrain from using profanity in your comments you will not have to experience their removal. It is not difficult to respect this rule. If decorum is something you find objectionable, there are other websites that can accommodate your expectations. You can write dissentions to whatever might be voiced here, but if you choose to instead engage in course language, your comment will disappear. That’s the way it works.

    I can GUARANTEE that DONALD will never EVER censor anyone’s post that criticizes him. Instead he will sue the posting person silly until they have lost all of the orange in their hair. People should absolutely be free to criticize DONALD as long as they are prepared to write a big fat check to him afterwards.

  9. Showing too many photos of ugly Hillary on the blog here may run some people off the blog. I think that the selling of Hillary toilet paper could raise money and votes for Donald. He is a choice and not an echo of Bush and he is not a creep like Paul Ryan. We need a new scandal on Hillary. An old event perhaps but new scandal to the public awareness. The dog rumor is interesting.

  11. I think that we need to have a preliminary primary in California between Hillary and Trump. Select a thousand people at random. Feed them beans and hold them in a corral until they have to poop. Then have them go into non gender bathrooms and take their respective dumps. Give them a choice and not an echo with the toilet paper. One with Donald’s face on the toilet paper and the other choice has Hillary’s pug on the toilet paper.

    Each choice will be rung up by a lever when they flush.

    If someone wipes with Hillary they are really voting for Donald and vice versa. But, there are some voters who would never let anything about her get near their butts.

    Can someone show some Hillary and Donald toilet paper on the blog here?

  12. Paul. my point was that she was more concerned about herself than the rest of us, just as she voted for the horrible bankruptcy bill for her “constituents”, the financiers. The rest of us who thought we were also her constituents didn’t count, we didn’t give her millions. We just voted for her, well, I didn’t vote for her but even so, the winner is supposed to represent all of us.

  13. hmmm, when she thought she was hacked she was concerned more about her personal emails than those related to her job? Her personal, what, embarrassment?, was more important than the country?

    1. bettykath – I think it is the emails between Hillary and Huma that are Hillary’s problem. They are not ready to come out yet.

    POTOSI, Mo. • A Potosi Correctional Center prisoner has been charged with first-degree murder for allegedly beating to death his cellmate, a man serving life in prison for beating his infant to death in St. Louis in 2010.

    Brandon Kulhanek, 38, was charged this week in the Oct. 14, 2015, death of Daniel Wilson.

    A probable cause statement said Kulhanek and Wilson got into a fight in their cell. Wilson, 35, was pronounced dead at Washington County Hospital. The autopsy showed Wilson died from a crushed larynx.

    He had been serving a life sentence for second-degree murder from St. Louis. His 7-month-old died after suffering a fractured skull and severe brain injuries in a January 2010 beating. He lived in the 1300 block of Graham Street in Dogtown at the time.

    Kulhanek had been serving an 18-year sentence for assault and other charges.

  20. Res ipsa locatra, the thing speaks for itself. What we need to speak up for is the right to vote. The right to vote for Trump. These schmucks in my state want me to have a photo ID. I have an old one from San Quentin but they say that is not good enough cause it does not have a current photo. Speaking of photos, look at the ugly one’s of The Hillary on this blog! Jeso. “My daddy didn’t vote and I ain’t votin”. (no spelling errors here, that is how it is said) Unless I get a photo ID. I should sue to make them put a photo of Hillary on the ballot- the one with her reading her smartphone. Eye before eeeh except after Cee.
