DNC CFO Marshall Apologizes For Email Pushing Religious-Based Attack On Sanders [UPDATED]

Wasserman SchultzThe Democratic National Committee (DNC) is still attempting to spin out of the scandal over the recently leaked emails showing that, as long claimed by critics, it was undermining Bernie Sanders and rigging the process for Hillary Clinton during the primaries. It would seem obvious to most of us that not only should Debbie Wasserman Schultz resign, but a number of DNC officials fired for the emails, particularly DNC CFO Brad Marshall. Yet, the DNC is been largely quiet and clearly hoping that Democrats simply do not care if they have been directly misled by the DNC, which sought to engineer the win for Clinton.  It may be right.  Many Democratic voters (like many Republican voters) seem to have simply accepted that politicians lie to them and that people who are demanding honesty from leaders are naive (or do not see “the bigger picture”).  The DNC is clearly hunkering down to see if “this too shall pass” with voters.  While Wasserman Schultz has given up her speaking role at the convention, she is clinging on to the chairmanship of the party. Update: Wasserman Schultz has resigned but there is still little media attention to Marshall, Davey, and others at the DNC who actively plotted against Sanders).

The sheer mendacity of the Democratic leadership in these emails is breathtaking.  At the very time that these officials were denying allegations that they were undermining Sanders at every turn, Marshall and his colleagues were secretly doing exactly what they were publicly denying.  However, Marshall was particularly disgraceful in his effort to use Sanders’ faith against him.  He pushed for an attack on Sanders as an agnostic or atheist. That should not sit well with the millions of agnostics and atheists in this country — one of the fastest going segments of the population.

Marshall wrote that “for KY and WVA can we get someone to ask his belief. Does he believe in a God. He had skated on saying he has a Jewish heritage. I think I read he is an atheist. This could make several points difference with my peeps. My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist.” This went to various DNS communications directors who were also busy denying that any secret effort against Sanders.DNC CEO Amy Dacey responded “Amen”  Both Dacey and Marshall have been part of a concerted denial of such efforts and both should have been fired with other officials involved in these exchanges.

Marshall’s apology only magnifies the problem.  He wrote

“I deeply regret that my insensitive, emotional emails would cause embarrassment to the DNC, the Chairwoman, and all of the staffers who worked hard to make the primary a fair and open process. The comments expressed do not reflect my beliefs nor do they reflect the beliefs of the DNC and its employees. I apologize to those I offended.”

Really?  You send an email to other DNC officials suggesting an attack on a Democratic candidate’s religion and, after being caught, you say that it does not “reflect my beliefs”?  This was not some aside at a party but an email sent to other party functionaries.  Moreover, Marshall makes no mention of the fact that he, Dacey, and Wasserman Schultz were denying such a secret campaign against Sanders at the very time that these emails were sent.  The very fact that the DNC did not immediately dump Marshall, Dacey and others is telling.  Indeed, they should have been let go when these emails were sent, let alone after they were forced to acknowledge their dishonest and disgraceful conduct.

  1. Rotten to the core, everyone knows it, and the DNC doesn’t care because in spite of being caught red handed, they accomplished their goal and got what they wanted. No consequences, no problem!

  2. Electoral voting is somewhat important, everyone should vote, but “Consumer Voting” is where citizen-consumers have real power. Consumers then have more control over the pay-to-play auction of who buys the candidates.

For example: If consumers only purchased antibiotic-free food (a bigger threat than terrorism), that money then drives those corporate campaign contributors. If consumers only used telecom and Internet providers that protected your privacy, it forces the industry to move that direction also. If consumers start buying electric cars or solar panels, it forces the industry to do the same and makes utility-monopolies better serve their customers.

Some organizations, like Human a Rights Campaign, actually publish a consumer guide during the winter holidays/Christmas that grades each store as to their “equality” practices. Consumers then shop at stores that have a proven track record of non-discrimination. Those companies then buy your member of Congress or state politician.

Electoral voting really has little impact in the post-Jimmy Carter pay-to-play auctions, vote with your dollars!

  3. Autumn, The flyboy loves to drop ordinance and leave. He seldom hits his target. He’s funny to read though.

you are right. DWS’s resignation signifies nothing to Progressives – we realize that she would not have been chair anyhow after the convention. What we’d like to see is for HRC to step down. THAT would ensure people support the DNC but ain’t never going to happen. So let the party eat itself.

As far as the MSM liars/connivers they are toast. No one under the age of say 45 even watches/reads them. So in a few years they will cease to exist.

On a side note – I was looking for live interviews with Aldous Huxley and came across a UT Austin archive of Mike Wallace interviews. I have watched several of them and was struck by the intelligent discourse and the focus on the person being interviewed – very different from today where the interviewer is always the star.

  5. Democrats complaining about the source of the emails is like a Murderer complaining about a jailhouse snitch leading detectives to evidence of their crime

  6. @tnash

yep, lawsuit is being filed, but I’m sure the Clintons will somehow derail it. I guess the point I wanted to make is that Berniebots are ticked, but steadily moving forward and not caving whereas Hilbots sense that their depraved candidate is most likely gonna lose without us. We refuse to get on board the Crooked Hillary train.

  7. Brazile already had to resign from the Head of DNC right after taking over for DWS.

Hillary has already given a top job in her campaign to DWS.

    So much corruption.

and just think, these are only the small first batch of emails Wikileaks is releasing. Many more to come

  8. All of this outrage against Debbie Wasserman Schultz is total nonsense. She is just the “fall person.” (I’d say “fall guy,” but I don’t want to be accused of being sexist by the leftist politically correct crowd.)

Of course the DNC was 100% behind Clinton. Anyone with an ounce of common sense would know this without reading or hearing about any emails. It’s obvious.

And, of course, just follow the money. The money behind the DNC is Clinton money. You do know that money talks, don’t you? And when money talks, people listen, and follow accordingly. That’s the way the system is rigged. Always has been. Always will be.

But the real story of the leaked emails is not discussed here or anywhere else. And the REAL story is that the MEDIA is 100% behind Clinton too. That is obvious as well to anyone with common sense. If there’s some anti-Trump angle to pursue in the media, it will be front-page news, no matter how trivial or absurd. And any anti-Clinton items will be swept under the rug or spun in the most positive manner conceivable. So even this website doesn’t want to talk about this more important reality. The media and Clinton are joined at the hip because Clinton is the puppet of the global elite. The media writers are merely Presstitutes serving their global corporate masters.

Free speech? — Get it, while supplies last. (This great line, alas, is not my own. I’ve modified it from the Second City troupe’s new show.

  9. Autumn,

Who needs to jump on beds when you get to sit next to Obama? Please, get your priorities in order!

  10. It looks like the Berniacs are more pissed than anybody.
It was pointed out to me that a class action lawsuit was filed against the DNC and Wasserman-Schultz….supposedly 200,000 Sanders supporter are part of the class.
This was inititiated about a month ago……Bernie Sanders himself would seem to have the standing in a lawsuit like this, but I don’t think he’ll sign on.
My guess is that the lawsuit is DOA, but we’ll see.

  11. Is it just me or do Hilbots seem to be getting more angry lately? Reading the comments on various sites I notice more “heat” whereas Bernie/Jill folks are more lighthearted, amused even – still determined, but not incensed. We have paid close attention all along so the Wikileaks email revelations were nothing we didn’t already know. We kinda hoped that Hilbots might do some soul searching and question why/how they could still stand behind such a dishonest candidate, but that has not happened.

  12. @al

bit late for that isn’t it? Or does she need some media coverage? The Donald has destroyed the RNC establishment. Bernie caved, but that’s okay – the DNC is doing a perfectly good job of imploding. I hear the chant in Philly is “Hell no DNC we don’t want Hil-a-ry”

  13. @nick

I am definitely into felines and love all cats big and small. But prefer those with colour and vivid markings – maybe a jaguar or a serval

  14. @randyjet

Bet you’d like one of my bumper stickers “I don’t care how many people she’s killed”

  15. I have to laugh at the GOPers on this site and Prof Turley firing away at Clinton on Bernie’s behalf! Not one of you so called integrity types had no problem with Trump’s lack of such a thing. In fact, you fail to mention any of his lapses at all. Even outright plagerism was defended! It is like the GOPers telling black Americans that the KKK was the terrorist wing of the Democratic party, as though that means anything now. You are either stupid or think we are, which amounts to the same thing. Get Real!

  16. @Jill

Great article. Makes perfect sense though doesn’t it? These big donor folks have a sense of entitlement – I wonder if George Clooney expects to have a room in the WH?
