  1. I watched a fews moments of the puke and gag set wasting time on our dime and then it hit me. All of th eleftists from the Marxists to the secular regressives without exception had one thing in common. I’ll put it this way Were i being question by Senator Patrick Leahy progressive socialist of Vermont my answer would be, “Senator? Since November 8th 2016 since the majority of US Citizens following the rules of federal elections put President Trump in the White House we have heard this three million figure overe and over. Never mind it was 48.2% and did not qualify at the federal level where only majorities count and never mind they disregard Klein and Johnson so let’s say ALL of the Constitutional rules on elections you say should have been thrown out the window and never mind your oath of office….I’ll ask one question.

What? Senator Leahy have you done to initiate an amendment to the Constitution of the United States in to do away with the electoral college system and thus honor your oath of office before during or after the events of ‘Nov 8th?’ Isn’t it true the answer is you have done nothing and does this not measure how much importance you attach to this three million votes nonesense?

Somehow I don’t believe you really care either way except for a way to grab headlines and delay the business of the nation, the people and the espcecially the citizens – your employers.

Then apply that standard and the answer is not one of these Senators has done barfo except arfo.

  2. Sandy Phillips of Boerne, Tx. sued an ammunition manufacturer after someone killed her daughter. As a result of playing the straw-plaintiff in a bit of tort-law adventurism, she got hit with a bill for the manufacturers legal costs. I’m sorry this woman was conned by a couple of BigLaw attorneys (one of them and old ambulance chaser, the other a lawyer-left denizen who takes pro bono work) into filing this case. Anything she’d have to say is bound to be a publicity stunt (and, btw, it was Richard Matsch who tossed out her case and awarded the defendants costs).

  3. Is it still crooked Hilary ?

I suppose Comey will be looking elsewhere for employment. He just called Trump a liar.

    So it “lying Trump.”

Does anyone know if Melanja Trump is a citizen of the US, has dual citizenship or is a green card holder or still a foreign citizen only here because of a K-1 visa ?

If not, does she have a K-2 visa? Or she doesn’t work.

    1. The Steak-Salesman dispatched his Hawaii-based investigative team to discover the truth. Fantastic tremendousness they’re finding.

    1. These are only bad things in the addled minds of progtrash.

    1. Teachout maintains no conception of the judicial role other than a series of power grabs. She projects this on everyone else.

    2. Smart man. They create the jobs and the rest of us reciprocate by buying the products. win win win

    1. “voter suppression” is progtrash code for what normal people call ‘inhibiting vote fraud’.

  4. Tell Gorsuch to keep his religion to himself. Of course the Christian Taliban want gradual theocracy, so that’s unlikely.

    1. Dave137 – he has a right to his religion and you have NO right to stop him.

        1. Dave137 – just like gays, he has a right to be ‘loud and proud.’

            1. websterisback – I am not a happy camper about the Pope, either. However, I am agnostic.

  5. BB and anonymous,

What’s even worse is Gorsuch justifies torture under the basis that the executive may, in effect, overrule the law of our nation–that the executive is above the law. So what other horrors will Gorsuch have in store for people as the obedient servant of the executive?

This is contrary to everything JT has written since he began this blog and it is difficult to believe he would support such a person.

Our nation needs people who will stand up to cruelty by the powerful.

  6. The title speaks volumes: “Gorsuch Hearing To Start Monday; Turley To Testify On Thursday”

The following would have been preferable, IMHO:

    “Gorsuch Hearing To Start Monday”

(That you will be testifying might better have been stated in the body of your posting, but “as is” — it’s telling.)

    1. I imagine most of the hearings will be muddled out because of Trumps insane twit rants. I swear this man (not much of one or he would apologize for the lies) is going to get The US into a major war with his Twitter Account. He is worse than the Kardadhians. He has no boundaries.

  7. JT,

This is what you are supporting: “Lawyers for the man accused of orchestrating the USS Cole bombing are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene in the military tribunal here using accounts of the captive’s CIA torture drawn from declassified documents and an interrogator’s recent memoirs.

The 38-page petition with hundreds of pages of supporting documents describes Abd al Rahim al Nashiri’s being sodomized, kept naked and kenneled like a dog, crammed into a box the size of an office safe and being threatened with a revved power drill while hanging shackled and nude from a cell ceiling.

And that’s from the portion that isn’t blacked out.”

This is evil. Gorsuch is all for it and he will greenlight this and worse on the SC. This isn’t our law. It’s not our values. He doesn’t deserve support, he deserves opposition.

    1. I am in complete agreement. It’s specifically outlawed by international treaties we have signed and it’s inhuman. As you point out, it’s not our values. Over the last 16 years, we have beomce ruled by fear and intimidation.

  8. There is a very good article about the Gorsuch nomination and the politics of it all in the New York Times today, written by Adam Liptak.

  9. JT,

I don’t understand how you are supporting a man who sanctions torture and other unlawful actions by the executive. Torture is against our law. He supports torture. Therefore he is not upholding the rule of law and is not qualified to be a supreme court justice. His own position on this matter disqualifies him.

The right of a president to order torture is settled. A president may not do this. Of course they do do it, but that is because powerful people basically do whatever they want with no consequences. The last thing we need is a SC member who will give a legal free pass to a president who orders torture.

    Please reconsider supporting Gorsuch.

  10. I remember when JT wrote about the equal rights under law. And now since he does not even pretend to uphold everybody’s due process unless your a corporation or a political hack. Due process and law is only for who can afford it, and other wise your guilty until proven innocent.

    1. […] and other wise your guilty until proven innocent -> and otherwise you’re guilty until you can afford to be innocent.

    2. I was unmoved by this Justice until I read about his views on same sex marriages. He wrote a dissertation on it. It is sicking and the Pope has already stated that this type of behavior is unacceptable to a Christian.

  11. I am unfamiliar with the process. What does “minority” and “majority” refer to? Those who oppose and those who support the confirmation?

    Will this be televised?

    1. Which party has the most votes. Just now the Republicants are the majority party and the Demorats are the minority party.
