With Friends Like These . . . : Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov Denies Trump Ever Discussed Comey . . . After White House Officials Confirm That He Did

President Donald Trump is finding friends in all the wrong places this week.  Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov seemingly came to his defense by outright denying that he and Trump ever discussed the Comey firing in their controversial visit to the Oval Office.  After all, who are you going to trust if you are not going to take the word of dictator-loving, soulless apparatchik serving Vladimir Putin?

White House officials defending Trump insist that he made the statements to get “concessions” from the Russian or make them feel beholden to him.  National security advisor H.R. McMaster insisted that such comments were meant to reassure the Russians in their discussions with the President.  Instead, Trump himself was criticized later for not only calling Comey a “nut job” (and saying his firing took pressure off the Russian investigation) but for revealing highly classified information  received from Israel.

Lavrov however has now insisted that “We did not touch on that topic at all.”  Well at least the disconnect between the Russians and the White House in the aftermath of the scandal show no signs of coordination or collusion.

Someone might want to send a note to Russia that this type of help is . . . well . . . not helpful.

  1. “After all, who are you going to trust if you are not going to take the word of dictator-loving, soulless apparatchik serving Vladimir Putin?”

To say that he’s “soulless” seems a little extreme, Jonathan. But maybe you know something…

    1. Well, I don’t know if Putin or his apparatchik have souls but it’s a fact that Alexander Litvinenko had his soul removed from the inside out by these two after a spot of radioactive polonium-210 was placed in his tea. To be sure, an ex-KGB and FSB agent cannot be considered entirely an “innocent.” Interestingly, members of the adverse press in Russia have very short lifespans while the MSM in America fare much better; as the Founders intended.

    1. Hi Autumn!!!

I am in and out of the house. I keep checking the Manchester Bombing story during commercials on the 12 Monkeys show I DVR’d. Plus, brushing cats, and strumming guitar between cats. And trying not to make more coffee so I would have an excuse to get back into the Organic Cacao Nibs, which I got my first bag this weekend. Have you ever tried any???

      Do I have ADHD???

      1. LOL Squeek! ADHD? Nah, I think that’s a bogus diagnosis anyhow. Some folks are more stimulated than others naturally – I envision their brains literally popping over with ideas. Like Prince who was “on” so much writing and performing no wonder he resorted to drugs to calm himself. Glad you take your edge off with the cats, music and writing =) Nope, never tried nibs.

  2. Could anyone please explain to me what deals the Trumps are personally get from the Saudies on this trip. I don’t mean deals in general. Explain what these special personal deals are they are getting.

    🙂 Well put.

    1. Trump tried to enlist Rogers and Coats in his coverup
But they refused as did Comey.

    1. Autumn, I think much of this offense by the Dems and their MSM is defense about the Seth Rich murder. He died to show that Bernie was getting swindled, but Bernie and his people have been silent..People are scared. Kim Dotcom may be a key to this. If the roles were reversed and a Rep operative was murdered that would be 24/7 coverage,

      1. Good points all Nick. Bernie may be silent (I think he has been silenced), but trust me, all the folks he inspired to pay attention to politics during the primaries and the GE are most definitely not. We probably despise the DNC establishment even more than die hard partisan Republicans =)

  4. The President of the U.S. cannot speak to a Russian ambassador or foreign minister of any sort. Nor can anyone who holds elective office. Nor can anyone doing business in the world. You just cannot speak with a Russian. Next are the Red Chinese.

  5. On May 10, it was widely reported that Comey said that Trump was “outside the realm of normal” and “crazy”.
Trump being Trump, he was bound to return the insult in kind (over a week later).
Trump seems to retaliate 100 % of the time to any actual, or perceived, insult or slight.
I think he may even be a bit thin-skinned.😄😏

  6. JT, do you really believe anything that the disgraceful population of msm make up ? Your entire blog is based on the premise that what you heard from the media had any truth to it . I’m speechless if anyone still uses American media as the source of the underlying basic premise of his/her blog
