It appears that Qatari will be left “waiting for Gadot” for some time after the government banned the move “Wonder Women.” The reason is that lead actress Gal Gadot (who plays Diana Prince) is Israeli. The government joins Lebanon and Tunisia in banning the film. The Muslim countries appear to agree with Wonder Woman in saying ” It’s about what you believe.” Gadot believes in the Torah and that is enough for the Qatar government. (Of course, Wonder Woman added “And I believe in love. Only love will truly save the world.”) That part is clearly not part of this decision.
The film was supposed to air in a matters of days before the government stepped in to ban it. She was born in Rosh Ha’ayin, Israel, to Irit, a teacher, and Michael, an engineer. She won the Miss Israel title in 2004. It was not simply the fact that Gadot, 32, is Jewish but she also served in the Israeli Defense Force. She has publicly supported the IDF during the 2014 Gaza War and served as a combat instructor during the 2006 Lebanon War.
Notably, Qatar has been struggling against allegations from other Muslim nations that it is a main funder of terrorism and extremists. Declaring war on Wonder Woman will hardly help matters.

I’d have more respect for them if they just said they are banning it because it’s just another dumb superhero movie.
Karl Kolchak – I saw Wonder Woman twice and liked it both times. It is going to be a tentpole franchise. I was not happy that they moved it to WWI when Wonder Woman was created to fight Nazis in WWII. However, they did keep with the theme. They were historically inaccurate about certain major characters, but they did stay true to the history of the fiction.
Well, the Middle East is statistically severely anti-Semitic and chauvenistic, sometimes violently so. I’m sure a movie about a Super Hero woman, strong in body and mind and scantily clad, played by an Israeli actress, would put many countries in the Middle East into fits.

I’ve read a translation of the Quran. Those terms appear nowhere. What is stated, over 100 times, is to argue gently with the people of the book, i.e., the holy bible.

You say you read a translation of the Quran, which translation? There are some translations of the Quran that have been completely sanitized for use of those that are naive.
Do you know what Dhimmi status is? Essentially it is a second class citizen with very abridged rights.
Do you recognize the implications of Sharia Law? That is where religion mixes with politics.
The important thing is what we are seeing today for you can argue the Quran said one thing and I can show another passage demonstrating the opposite. We can argue over the timeline and which verse takes precedence over the other. I can quote from many authors who you can reject and quote your own, so we have to look at what we see in the present recognizing historically the three choices of non-Muslims in threatened land.

I am sure there are many peaceful Muslims in the world, but their voices need to be heard. If they don’t accept political Islam as part of their beliefs then I have no problems, but as we have seen from surveys all too many ascribe to political Islam which means the rights of anyone not Muslim are abridged.

In 1967–fifty years ago–Omar Sherif caused an uproar in the Arab world when he committed the grave and unforgivable sin of kissing a Jewish Barbra Streisand, onscreen, in the film, Funny Girl. He almost lost his Egyptian citizenship over that act. She may have been an American, but she was a Jew, nonetheless. That may, indeed, have occurred fifty years ago, but the Muslim throwbacks have changed very little–banning a film simply because an Israeli Jewish woman is featured in it. You have to ask–where are the protests, of the so-called feminists, in their pu$$y-inspired caps, bullhorns in hand, demanding justice, equality and fairness for all women, the world over? Huh? Crickets, as usual. It’s an Israeli and Jew–a double whammy. She is undeserving of any protection or demands for fairness. Imagine, if you can, that this were some broad, cast as the heroine, donning a hijab and Israel, instead, had decided to ban the film, simply based upon the religion or the nationality of the female protagonist. Yeah. Imagine the never ending protests and relentless demands for condemnation. It would be running 24/7 on every new program. I can only chuckle as I wonder what Egypt would’ve done to Sherif in 1967, had it known the truth about its golden boy–that the actor didn’t merely kiss Babs; both of the actors, who were married to different people at the time of the film, were having a full blown affair.
