Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin-Abdullah al-Sheikh has again made a mockery of his own religion. We previously discussed how the Sunni religious leader banned Muslims from playing chess. Now he is warning that driving is a road to perdition for women and is a “dangerous matter that exposed women to evil.”
Saudi Arabia has been under intense pressure to allow women to drive. However, the cleric warned that driving would expose women to “weak-spirited” men “obsessed with women.” He also said that families would be constantly unsure where their women might be.
The Grand Mufti personifies the medieval mentality that controls the Kingdom.
Loujain al-Hathloul, 25, was stopped by border guards when she tried to drive a car across the border with a UAE passport. She in custody for a month.
With all due respect to the Grand Mufti, the one “obsessed with women” strikes me as the cleric who thinks that women will be driving themselves to hell if they get behind the wheel.

Start by studying the Quran. Not just what others state about it, often without having read it themselves.

Well I could be wrong, but I think what Benson is trying to say, and very poorly, is that Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin-Abdullah al-Sheikh is invoking “proper” Islam — not a “perversion” of it.
Of course, the “Koran”, like the “Bible” is a complex piece of work. And my view is that “The Book of Joshua” was never necessary and never should have been included in the Jewish or Christian religions. I’d like to the Council of Nicaea vote on that Book. Maybe you have it.

Would a return to an economy which promotes family values instead of instant gratification help?
Would an economy that recognized the need for parental… specifically female, nurture in the home help? Our industrious economy has striven to drive as many as possible into the workforce and wages have “declined”… or stagnated for decades. If our society could find itself in the moral mindset to recognize that young families need a little more help with some of the basicsdue to wage stagnation would it help?
Would it help if all our children weren’t taught that instant gratification and that they deserve the newest and best all the time? I drove cars worth less than $3000 for the 27 years I had children at home. As far as physical possessions and economic security go I had few and none.
That’s life. Our millennial s by and large were not taught those concepts.
I enjoy what I have now. I earned it, I “did my time”. “paid my dues.” It makes the little bit more I have now all the sweeter.

I’m old fashioned. I think the primary cause of insanity in modern-day Western women is that they believed the lie that they could have a rewarding career (using their intellect) while simultaneously being able to do a good job handling the domestic and child-rearing responsibilities. Hiring out your house-cleaning and lawn maintenance is inconsequential; hiring out your parenting is not. Based on the behavior of students from K-college over the last 20+ yrs, it is clearly childrearing that has suffered the most. But the economy is bad for many sectors of society and for myriad reasons, yet costs of living continue to increase—so what do we find? A Catch Doubley-Deuce. Women are forced to work and the adverse consequences (including decreased fertility rates) will likely continue.

Well, I suppose they do need to be careful. The way they repress and control, and neurotically obsess about what a woman is thinking, saying, wearing, talking about, whom she’s talking to, where she is, many women would absolutely rebel and try to escape the first second they could. Plus, Saudi Arabia is one of those countries where Female Genital Mutilation is still practiced. They are so obsessed with controlling sexual desire in women that they mutilate their genitals to make intercourse excruciatingly painful, for life, and childbirth dangerous, just to destroy their sexual drive. Sadly, Type III is the most common form of FGM found in Saudi Arabia: Type III: removal of all or part of the labia minora and labia majora , and the stitching of a seal across the vagina, leaving a small opening for the passage of urine and menstrual blood (infibulation). Oh, by the way, this “seal” requires a lady wth a knife to open the bride on her wedding knife. And then they control every single aspect of their lives. Many may not be aware that the Arabs used to sew up the vulva of their prized war mares before going into battle to avoid their breeding with undesirable enemy stallions. So this obsession with lady parts goes way, way back.
There seems to be an intense pressure of neurosis about sexuality in Saudi Arabia. The men are neurotic about controlling women and ruining sex for them for their entire lives. And those in Saudi Arabia who still perform FGM cause them severe medical complications due to their savage mutilation of their bodies as children. But there is also intense neurosis among women in Saudi Arabia. It is usually a female relative who takes the girl child in to be mutilated, because she has been brainwashed that she won’t get a good groom otherwise. And even in those areas where FGM is not performed in Saudi Arabia, the women are so repressed and controlled. Foreign brides usually ask each other if they’ve “hit bottom” yet, because that’s the predictable course of their mental health in that forsaken country.
Without iron control, I think that country would empty of women, hysterically screaming as they crossed the border. As a women, I feel so bad for all of the women in repressive countries like this. We women here in the West are so indescribably blessed, for the most part. Just to be born in a country where we have equal rights and the freedom to go anywhere we want and say anything we want is inconceivable to millions of women across the globe.
Oh, I forgot to mention, that with all those loveless arranged marriages between strangers, of course they would worry about women talking to other men when they go out. That’s what happens when you marry a women against her will to someone she doesn’t want, isn’t attracted to, doesn’t love, and who tries to control her every move like a kidnapper.

I’m a woman, and I have absolutely no idea.
I do know that Linda Sarsour denies that any harm is done to women directly as a result of Islam. That such harm is cultural only and not religious. It appears that she couches her argument in such a way that it sounds like women have the right to tie a pretty scarf over their head in any style that they want.
It has never made any sense to me why women would be attracted to an activist who was affiliated with Hamas, anti-semitism, and who fights for an agenda which would see women treated like second class citizens. Seems like the ghost of suffragettes past would be distraught. I have this strong urge to force her female supporters to watch Iron Angels, read up about the fight for women’s equality in the US, and then sit them down to watch thousands of hours about what actually happens, in reality and not Linda Sarsour’s imagination, to women under Sharia Law.

So I suppose the appeal would be to men and women who spend absolutely no time at all learning about the plight of women globally under Sharia Law, every single place where it is practiced. Plus there would be the allure of “free stuff” that seems to hook people who don’t use common sense. How many times have tax and spend policies been passed because it promised “free stuff”?
Linda Sarsour brings to mind the phenomenon of women hurting other females. Take Female Genital Mutilation, for example. It is indisputable that all 4 types cause lasting harm, ranging from discomfort during relations to massive risk during childbirth. And yet, it is the females of the family who take little girls as young as 5 to be mutilated. They insist upon it, because they have been brainwashed to believe that the girls will not be able to marry well without it. Even in Iran, where so many Persians have sworn that it has died out, there are a surprising number of pockets where this dark scourge is alive and well. Linda Sarsour is fighting for a cause that, were it to succeed, would lead to her losing her megaphone, and her right to agitate. It would relegate Sarsour herself to her own home. Even in Sharia Law regions where women are allowed to work, they are not considered equal to a man, their testimony is not equal to a man’s, they need a man’s permission for a great many activities we are free to enjoy, and she would not inherit the same as a man. So she is working to erode her own rights. What a stupid thing to do.
You are right with everything you say yet Liberal American women march with her despite the danger she poses to our Republic and Constitution. That alone would label Liberal woment as naive and gullible or just persons that like to follow a leader wearing a dumb looking hat.

It ends in a trade off. The 10% or so women who would never be happy just being wives and mothers will be happier. Meanwhile, the 90% or so of women who could have been quite happy just being wives and mothers, will be more miserable.
