Detroit Officers Posing As Drug Dealers Get Into Brawl With Detroit Officers Posing As Drug Buyers

downloadIt appears that crime is so low in Detroit that police are left trying to arrest each other.  On the East side of Detroit, the 12th Precinct sent in a team of special ops officers to pretend to be drug dealers.  At the same time, the 11th Precinct sent in officers pretending to a drug buyers. The rest will long be the subject of law enforcement legend.

Sources say that both undercover teams pulled their guns in attempting to arrest the other and ordered the other team to drop to the ground.  That is when the rest of the special ops team from the 12th Precinct showed up, and officers began raiding a house in the 19300 block of Andover.

That last part is is a bit odd for the homeowner: two teams of police officers try to arrest each other and then raid a house nearby.  Accounts say that the homeowner stood by and watched officers punching each other in the melee.

This is not the first time that there has been such confusion and some have far more tragic results. In Albuquerque an undercover police officer was shot several times by his own lieutenant. Albuquerque Police Department Lt. Greg Brachle reportedly did not attend the briefing on the operation before he hit APD Officer Jacob Grant eight times  in January 2015. Grant settled a lawsuit for  $6.5 million.

  1. he is seriously hurt didnt your listen? gunshots to major organs. he’s lucky to be alive
    cops need to calm down!
better training and information sharing too.
undercover crap is out of control!

  2. Glad no one got seriously hurt. It sounds like a Monty Python skit where the good guys are all fighting each other while the bad guys look on. Scary to think how badly this could have gone sideways. I’m curious if they raided the correct house, or if that was a snafu too?

Hopefully, they learn from this and put in place an SOP for cooperating with and informing neighboring precincts, as well as how to deal with such an incident in situ.
