“That’s Not A Good Place”: Moore States That George Soros Is Going To Hell With All Other Non-Christians
Judge_Roy_Moore250px-Hortus_Deliciarum_-_HellWe recently discussed the bizarre defense of Roy Moore earlier this month from Orthodox Rabbi Noson Shmuel Leiter.  Leiter declared that “Democratic and Republican homosexualists” were attacking Moore because he is standing up to “homosexualist gay terrorists” and “the LGBT transgender mafia.”  It appears however that Leiter would fare little better in the Moore world of self-righteous bigotry.  In a new released statement, Moore is shown denouncing George Soros, who is Jewish and noting that Jewish people will all go to Hell: “He’s still going to the same place that people who don’t recognize God and morality and accept his salvation are going. And that’s not a good place.” No that is not a nice place but would be the destination (in Moore’s view) of everyone from Leiter to Jared Kushner to Ivanka Trump to conservative donor Sheldon Gary Adelson.

Moore made the comments in an interview with radio host Bryan Fischer on his Alabama show, The Ordinary People Society.

Moore often raises damnation for his opponents.  For example, he believes that 9-11 may have been divine punishment for the declining faith in God and legitimizing abortion and “sodomy.”  He noted “You know, we’ve suffered a lot in this country. Maybe, just maybe, because we’ve distanced ourselves from the one that has it within his hands to heal this land.”
It is a curious way of campaigning but Tuesday will tell how many voters are left after you remove the damned among the voter rolls.

  2. Late4 Dinner, There are people who convert to Judaism who are not ethnically Jewish. If they decide to leave that religion are they still Jewish. I suspect this would help if you want a career in Hollywood.

The point is that there exist two ethnic groups known as Jews–Ashkenazi Jews and Sephardic Jews. Most of the people practicing Judaism are members of one or the other of those two ethnic groups. There were also Hebrew speaking peoples who lived before, during and after biblical times. And, in any case, refuting the part does not refute the whole.

In the segment, Steve Kroft, the interviewer, noted with prosecutorial gusto that George’s father had “bribed a government official to swear that you were his godson,” and added that this survival strategy “carried a heavy price tag.” For, he continued, “as hundreds of thousands of Jews were being shipped off to the Nazi death camps, a thirteen-year-old George Soros accompanied his phony godfather on his rounds, confiscating property from the Jews.” Visibly dumbfounded by the line of questioning, Soros could only manage to say that he had no role in the seizure of property and was merely a spectator. To underscore Kroft’s point, film footage showed masses of Hungarian Jews being led away at gunpoint.

    This is what actually happened. Shortly after George went to live with Baumbach, the man was assigned to take inventory on the vast estate of Mor Kornfeld, an extremely wealthy aristocrat of Jewish origin. The Kornfeld family had the wealth, wisdom, and connections to be able to leave some of its belongings behind in exchange for permission to make their way to Lisbon. Baumbach was ordered to go to the Kornfeld estate and inventory the artworks, furnishings, and other property. Rather than leave his “godson” behind in Budapest for three days, he took the boy with him. As Baumbach itemized the material, George walked around the grounds and spent time with Kornfeld’s staff. It was his first visit to such a mansion, and the first time he rode a horse. He collaborated with no one and he paid attention to what he understood to be his primary responsibility: making sure that no one doubted that he was Sandor Kiss. Among his practical concerns was to make sure that no one saw him pee.”

    It is in the nature of TV to reduce complex history to mere sound-bites and video-clips that necessarily distort the truth about the world via little snippets squeezed between commercial breaks. In this case, the distortion is grotesque. A thirteen year-old Jewish boy evading capture from the Nazis was made by TV to appear as though he had been collaborating with the Nazis. It was shameless defamation the first time around. And for eleven years since it has remained a recurring, recidivist series of shameless defamations.

    Ken got it almost right when he said, “Since you are not a holocaust survivor shut up.” I am not a holocaust survivor. But I have had neighbors who were holocaust survivors. And I will not shut up when I encounter the shameless defamation of any holocaust survivor. George Soros did not collaborate with the Nazis. All George Soros did was to evade capture during the Nazi occupation of Hungary from 1944 to 1945.

I have a friend who lived in Hungary at the same time Soros was there and he and his wife were sent here on the rat line. They were given jobs in the Catholic hospital in our small town. About 10 years ago his oldest son found out they were looking for his father and mother as war criminals from WWII. His father, a doctor, had been the mayor of the town and was responsible for sending the Jews to the concentration camps. Caused rather a mess in the family although both the mother and father were dead by then.

          My remark about the Hitler Youth was not that Soros was a member, although he might have been because everyone was, however rather that 13-year-olds can be vicious. Try teaching jr, high sometime.

I first learned that as a Catholic I would suffer eternal damnation during a conversation with a sweet young Southern Baptist cashier when I worked as a bagger and stock boy at Hill’s Supermarket in Huntsville, Alabama in June of 1963. My family had moved to Huntsville earlier that year after my father accepted a position with NASA as an optics instructor. I was 16 and had returned from my high school in El Paso for the summer. I was the first Catholic this particular young lady had ever met, or so she said. We somehow got on the subject of religion during one of our conversations and she patiently, and almost sorrowfully, explained to me that Catholics are not Christians because we are not “born again” and are accordingly condemned to everlasting hellfire.

    That was also the summer that I learned about Jim Crow laws: segregated restaurants and theatres, separate water fountains and “whites only” signs. I also learned about some of the unwritten Jim Crow laws, like black people looking down and stepping aside for white people on sidewalks. In my grocery store, I learned that the established “custom” was to welcome black customers on Saturday nights.

    Several months before we moved to Huntsville, a Catholic priest had been literally run out of a small town outside of Huntsville when he arrived to establish a Catholic parish. And, of course, that was also the summer that George Corley Wallace, who earlier that year had given his “segregation forever” speech, attempted to blockade the entrance to the University of Alabama to prevent the enrollment of black students.

    Now I don’t know whether George Soros is going to hell or not. I also don’t know how Roy Moore spent the summer of 1963 in Gadsden, or what my other contemporary Jeff Sessions was doing in Selma in those days, but for me it was one serious summer of culture shock.

Only if you perpetuate the lie that one cannot be Jewish and Christian can you draw such an inference. Rabbi Leitner may disagree, but I can assure you that 100% of the first Christians were all Jewish: born, raised, and died Jewish (not to mention Jesus himself). The first serious theological issue confronting the Christian Church was the question of whether NON-Jews could be Christian. (Read it yourself in Acts.) The Apostles, all Jewish, were persecuted by fellow Jews (e.g., Saul of Tarsus) over the question of whether or not Jesus of Nazareth was the Messiah, but never, ever, did their persecutors dispute their Jewishness. That came much later.

    The problem is the dual, distinct meanings of the word “Jewish”: it means an ethnicity and a heritage, which depends on ancestry alone and is impossible to change regardless of one’s religion (including atheism, which is still a religion, and is George Soros’ religion), and it also means a religion (or set of related religions), one to which an Eskimo or anyone else can convert. In a religious sense only, then yes, an adherent of modern rabbinical Judaism (the spiritual descendants of the Biblical Pharisees) does not believe that Yeshua is Messiah and cannot also be Christian—that would be contradictory. It is nothing short of sloppy thinking and sloppy writing to confuse these two very, very different uses of the term ‘Jewish’. Shame on you for such sloppy thinking; you should do better than that.

    The lie that one cannot be a Christian and still be Jewish was perpetrated by the Catholic Church (and continued by break-away groups), who wanted Jewish Christians to be under their control and not the rabbis’, and also by the rabbis, who wanted (and still do) their flock to be under their control and not run to a competing religion, under penalty of complete ostracism. It’s amazing that Jews are mostly okay with a fellow Jew being an atheist, even a Hindu, but believe in Jesus as the fulfillment of Isaiah 53—oh my! That passage refers to the suffering, death, burial, and resurrection of the Messiah, whoever he is. If they think it refers to someone else—well, they don’t actually think about it. Don’t know if Moore considers Catholics to be Christians but I doubt it. Since Alabama has very little religious diversity, it probably does not hurt him. Having spent some time around these rapture types in Texas, I don’t think I care to end up with them in the after life if there is one.

            Soros was 13 years old in March 1944 when Nazi Germany occupied Hungary. Jewish children were barred from attending school by the Nazis, and Soros and the other schoolchildren were made to report to the Judenrat (“Jewish Council”) which had been established during the occupation. Soros later described this time to writer Michael Lewis: “The Jewish Council asked the little kids to hand out the deportation notices. I was told to go to the Jewish Council. And there I was given these small slips of paper…. I took this piece of paper to my father. He instantly recognized it. This was a list of Hungarian Jewish lawyers. He said, “You deliver the slips of paper and tell the people that if they report they will be deported.”

            Soros did not return to that job; his family purchased documents to say that they were Christians, thereby allowing them to survive the war. Later that year at age 14, Soros posed as the Christian godson of an official of the collaborationist Hungarian government’s Ministry of Agriculture, who himself had a Jewish wife in hiding. On one occasion, rather than leave the 14 year old alone, the official took Soros with him while he inventoried a rich Jewish family’s estate, though Soros did not take part. Tivadar not only saved his immediate family but also many other Hungarian Jews, and George would later write that 1944 had been “the happiest [year] of his life,” for it had given him the opportunity to witness his father’s heroism. It’s been eleven years already that your damnable alt.right lying machine has been repeating your grotesque distortion of Soros’ boyhood experience of surviving the Nazi occupation of Hungary. Now go read what the Anti-Defamation League has to say about your alt.right lying machine.

            And so you can see how the alt.right lie machine shamelessly distorts history by falsely equating the evasion of the Nazi occupation of Hungary with supposed collaboration with the Nazis. Will the alt.right ever tire of adding insult to injury?

              Abraham Foxman, the executive director of the ADL, objected strongly to Beck’s attacks:

              “Glenn Beck’s description of George Soros’ actions during the Holocaust is completely inappropriate, offensive and over the top. For a political commentator or entertainer to have the audacity to say – inaccurately – that there’s a Jewish boy sending Jews to death camps, as part of a broader assault on Mr. Soros, that’s horrific.

              While I, too, may disagree with many of Soros’ views and analysis on the issues, to bring in this kind of innuendo about his past is unacceptable. To hold a young boy responsible for what was going on around him during the Holocaust as part of a larger effort to denigrate the man is repugnant.

              The Holocaust was a horrific time, and many people had to make excruciating choices to ensure their survival. George Soros has been forthright about his childhood experiences and his family’s history, and there the matter should rest.”

              Thusly did Mespo Torquemada insist that he objected only to Soros’ lack of religiosity and accused Soros of having done ghoulish work for the Nazis to evade Nazi discovery of Soros’ Jewish ethnicity, which The Grand Inquisitor, Esposito, further disparaged as “superficial” Jewishness, because Soros did not practice the ethnic religion known as Judaism, and despite the fact that the Nazis sought to make Europe free of all Jews whether or not they practiced the ethnic religion known as Judaism that the Nazis forbade them to practice anyway. Mespo727272 has twisted his native tongue so torturously as to be unrecognizable as any tongue more articulate than FUBAR.

                Is that supposed to be the proof for the statement, “Soros hates Israel”? I’m guessing that Mespo727272 doesn’t deny the Jews their right to a national existence. But might Mespo727272 want to be a part of the Jewish State of Israel? I have no idea. Are there no Jewish atheists in Israel? I have no idea. Must one practice Judaism to be a citizen of Israel? No. There are Christian citizens of Israel.

                So what else exactly might Mespo727272 be trying to prove with the video-clip he posted upstream from here, if not the statement, “Soros hates Israel,” because Soros is not a devout Jew, and because Soros wants no part of the Jewish State of Israel?

          2. Diane – as I said before, Soros is as much Jewish as Jack Kennedy is Catholic. They were both born into the faith, but really did not practice it as adults.

            1. Judaism is an ethnic religion. Hinduism is an ethnic religion. Catholicism is not an ethnic religion. When one ceases practicing Catholicism, one ceases to be a Catholic. When one ceases practicing Hinduism, one continues being a member of the Hindu ethnic group. When one ceases practicing Judaism, one continues being a member of the Jewish ethnic group. Throughout the Roman and post-Byzantine episodes of the Jewish diaspora, many European Jews were prevented by law from publicly practicing Judaism, but continuously persecuted for being Jews, anyway.               Key phrases from above: non-observant, uncomfortable with their roots, wryly described as a Jewish anti-Semitic home and changed their name from the German-Jewish Schwartz to Soros, as protective camouflage in increasingly antisemitic Hungary.

              The alt.right lie machine has twisted each of the observations in those key phrases to defame Soros. For instance, it would not be too unusual for Jews living in an anti-Semitic country to be non-observant Jews who were uncomfortable with their roots. Nor would a wry sense of humor that describes such a predicament as a Jewish anti-Semitic home be especially unusual. Likeiwse, changing one’s name from Schwartz to Soros to avoid anti-Semitism might also be excusable, at least if one were familiar with the work of Franz Kafka who lived under similar circumstances in anti-Semitic Hungary. But the alt.right lie machine defames Soros on the grounds that he supposedly admitted to being an anti-Semite. The alt.right has no shame nor any decency. And neither do Mespo727272 nor Paul C. Schulte.
