Idaho Man Arrested After Driving Down Highway With 40 Foot Stolen Pipes Sticking Out Windows

Anderson, 47, does not appear to have seriously thought out his criminal scheme.  Anderson is accused of stealing 40 foot sections of irrigation pipe and then driving down the highway with the pipes sticking out the car windows.  He proceeded to hit other cars with pipes before being pulled over by police.

Anderson allegedly stole the pipe section from a farm and was trying to bring them to a recycling facility with the pipe sticking out of his Silver Chevy Impala. He might hahve made it if it were not for his whacking cars along the way.

 

He is now facing changes possession of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia as well as petit theft and reckless driving.  He hit at least three cars in his modern version of the Ben Hur chariot race.

What I fail to understand is how recycling center can just take such material from people seeking payment without proof of lawful ownership.

  2. Turley, it happens all the time in California. There’s an entire subculture of people that subsist by taking things to recycling centers for cash. They go through people’s trash and pick what they think they can get a buck off of. They steal copper out of wiring in the dead of night.

    Special Counsel Robert Mueller indicted foreign citizens for trying to influence the American public about an election because those citizens did not register as a foreign agent nor record their financial expenditures to the Federal Elections Commission. By that theory, when will Mueller indict Christopher Steele, FusionGPS, PerkinsCoie, the DNC and the Clinton Campaign? Mueller’s indictment against 13 Russian trolls claimed their social media political activity was criminal because: they were foreign citizens; they tried to influence an election; and they neither registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act nor reported their funding to the Federal Elections Commission.

    First, if Mueller’s theory is correct, three things make Steele a criminal: first, he is a foreign citizen; second, he tried to influence an election, which he received payments to do (including from the FBI itself); and third, he neither registered as a foreign agent nor listed his receipts and expenditures to the Federal Election Commission. Also, according to the FBI, along the way, Steele lied…a lot, while the dossier he disseminated contained its own lies based on bought-and-paid for smears from foreign sources reliant on rumors and innuendo.

    Second, if Mueller’s theory is correct, three things make FusionGPS a criminal co-conspirator: it knew Steele was a foreign citizen; it knew, and paid, Steele to influence an election; and it knew, and facilitated, Steele neither registering as a foreign agent nor reporting his funding from the Democratic National Committee and the Clinton campaign to the Federal Election Commission.

    Third, if Mueller’s theory is correct, then three things make PerkinsCoie a potential target: it knew Steele was a foreign citizen; it knew, and paid, Steele to influence an election; and it knew, and facilitated, Steele neither registering as a foreign agent nor reporting his funding from the Democratic National Committee and the Clinton campaign to the Federal Election Commission, by disguising its receipt of payments from the Clinton campaign as a “legal expense.”

    Fourth, if Mueller’s theory is correct, then three things make the DNC a potential target: it knew Steele was a foreign citizen; it knew, and paid, Steele to influence an election; and it knew, and facilitated, Steele neither registering as a foreign agent nor reporting his funding from the Democratic National Committee and the Clinton campaign to the Federal Election Commission, by disguising its payments to Steele as laundered legal expenses to a law firm.

    Fifth, if Mueller’s theory is correct, three things make the Clinton Campaign a potential target: it knew Steele was a foreign citizen; it knew, and paid, Steele to influence an election; and it knew, and facilitated, Steele neither registering as a foreign agent nor reporting his funding from the Clinton campaign to the Federal Election Commission, by disguising its funding of payments to Steele laundered through a law firm as a “legal expense.”

    Don’t expect such an indictment. Mueller chose his targets because he knows they will never appear in court, never contest the charges, and cannot be arrested or extradited as Russian citizens. Mueller’s unprecedented prosecution raises three novel arguments: first, that speaking out about American politics requires a foreign citizen to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act; second, that speaking out about American politics requires a foreign citizen list their source and expenditure of funding to the Federal Election Commission; and third, that mistakes on visa applications constitute “fraud” on the State Department. All appear to borrow from the now-discredited “honest services” theories Mueller’s team previously used in corporate and bribery cases, cases the Supreme Court overturned for their unconstitutional vagueness. The indictment raises serious issues under the free speech clause of the First Amendment and due process rights under the Fifth Amendment.

      There is no indication that Mueller is considering action against those involved in the Steele/ Russian Dossier project.
      There are other ongoing investigations outside of the Mueller probe, and there’s already been a criminal referral to the DOJ related to Steele’s activities.
      Given that the Mueller team has far greater resources than a Congressional committee, any real action against those involved with the Steele/ Russian Dossier would probably have to come from the DOJ.
      The DNC and the Hillary for President Committee were able to conceal their funding for the Russian Dossier until late October; that’s when the money trail ( DNC to Perkins Coie/ Mark Elias to Fusion GPS to Christopher Steele) proved that they funded it.
      Once concealment of the role of the DNC/Hillary Campaign Fund was no longer possible, the “talking points” soon emerged as to why their funding for the dossier was noble and patriotic.
      I can tell you the response that you’ll get as to why there’s no wrongdoing involved related to the Russian Dossier project; the collusion with the Russians in funding, compiling, and promoting ( to the media) of the dossier was necessary to determine if Trump was colluding with the Russians.
      In short, that is the main talking point used as a justification for using Russian sources for political opposition research.
      That talking point is usually followed by high praise for Christopher Steele as a ” highly regarded spy”.
      I’ve been over this topic before with Late4Dinner/Links for Breakfast in one of “her” previous columns, so I can save you the suspence of waiting for a reply.

        There is another talking point that I failed to mention; that by bringing up this topic, you’re “undermining the Mueller investigation”.
        It’s never explained just how this “undermines” the Mueller investigation, but that doesn’t seem to matter.

    Well, it is Idaho. Out there, they don’t believe in them pesky regulations, as a suppression of free enterprise. Obviously the legitimate owners of the pipe needed to have a 24/7 armed guard posted, ready to shoot.

    1. California loves regulations and recycling centers operate the same way. They don’t ask questions when someone brings them copper from wiring they stole the night before.

    If one needed proof that Mueller’s investigation was an utter farce, they were in for a treat this morning when the Deputy Attorney General announced the indictment of indicted 13 “Russian trolls,” for allegedly interfering in the 2016 Presidential election by posting on social media accounts.

    Laying Mueller’s disregard of the First Amendment aside, the indictment is blatantly hypocritical in light of active social media intervention by pro-Clinton David Brock and his multi-million dollar efforts to ‘Correct The Record.’

    Going further, the New York Times details fervently the $2 million budget of Daou’s Shareblue and admits that the intent of the entire operation is interference in the outcome of the 2016 Presidential election in favor of Hillary Clinton: “Beyond creating a boisterous echo chamber, the real metric of success for Shareblue, which Mr. Brock said has a budget of $2 million supplied by his political donors, is getting Mrs. Clinton elected. Mr. Daou’s role is deploying a band of committed, outraged followers to harangue Mrs. Clinton’s opponents.”

    The New York Daily News put the matter most bluntly: “Hillary Clinton camp now paying online trolls to attack anyone who disparages her online.” The LA Times described the active election interference: “It is meant to appear to be coming organically from people and their social media networks in a groundswell of activism, when in fact it is highly paid and highly tactical.”

    Despite the millions of dollars poured into a pro-Clinton ‘outrage machine’ bent on her support, Clinton inexplicably lost the election to Donald Trump, a fact which still seems not to have sunk in for the former First Lady and Secretary of State.

    1. Russian spies are not protected under The US Constitution, Squeeky. As for Shareblue and Correct The Record, the counter-propaganda effort was obviously overwhelmed by The Russian troll farm at The Internet Research Agency. Equally obvious is that zerohedge is drawing a false equivalency between foreign-sponsored disinformation versus home-grown counter-propaganda. It’s about the same as the false equivalency between Natalia Veselnitskaya versus Christopher Steele. It that’s the best The Trumpettes can do, then Trump truly is in trouble.

  11. This type of theft is a major problem in many rural areas. The legislatures in many cases clamped down on the ease of criminals selling stolen material to recyclers, a few of which in the past were in on the action. Most now require proof of identity but the thieves know how to circumvent the rules. The best way to catch them however remains at the time, or immediately thereafter of the theft. Circle irrigation systems are a favorite target but even guard rails are occasionally stolen. Then there was a case we had of a guy who went from would-be thief attempting to steal electrical wire from a live substation to a crispy critter in the resulting arc-flash.

    Not the brightest bulbs in the bunch these guys, well except for the last one I guess.

  12. A car coming the other way towards us the other week with pipes hanging out both windows like in the photo but not as bad.

    I stopped the car immediately in the hope that those pipes would not hit us. I know how the driver of the other car was not decapitated as soon as they got on the main road.

  16. In Florida the center I go to requires drivers license and a thumb print before they will take any metal item for recycling.

  17. They were aluminum pipes. He’s probably a meth head. In his mind, it’s OK to steal stuff and better for the farmer and his family to lose their livelihoods, than for him to have to straighten up his act and get a full time job.

  18. Recycling centers generally keep records of items such as irrigation pipe, copper wire, and an assortment of other items that are brought in by certain profiled groups.. Where reports of theft are made, the police often go looking at the center. At least here they do. What group do you think Anderson belongs? Yeah, I was thinking the same thing; that’s one of the groups they profile.

    Everyday we seem to meet a new idiot. What will tomorrow bring?
