Michael Wolff, the author of “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House” , is under fire this week after being accused of faking audio problems and then walking off a set of the Australian Today morning show on Sunday.  Journalists were suspicious that Wolff was having no difficulty with his audio until he was asked about his conflicting statements on whether President Donald Trump is currently having an affair.  After Wolff left, the show publicly stated that there was nothing wrong with Wolff’s audio.

The tense moment occurred over Wolff’s earlier suggestion that Trump was having an affair with the US ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley.  Last week Wolff did a reversal and told a Dutch TV show “I do not know if the president is having an affair.”

“Today” show host Ben Fordham asked Wolff a question of his recent 180 degree turn on the allegation:

“You said during a TV interview just last month that you are ‘absolutely sure’ that Donald Trump is currently having an affair while president behind the back of the first lady, and I repeat you said you were ‘absolutely sure’ . . . Just last week however you backflipped and said I quote ‘I do not know if the president is having an affair.’ Do you owe the president and the first lady an apology, Mr. Wolff?”

Wolff began complaining of technical difficulties in the London studio and finally responded by saying, “I can’t hear you.”  He asked for help as he continued “I’m not getting anything.”  He then removed his earpiece and left to the amazement of the show.

You can see the video here.

After the departure, Fordham’s cohost Georgie Gardner said, “Gee, that was an unfortunate question to miss, wasn’t it?” Fordham replied “I think he may have heard it.”

The studio then reported that it could hear the audio working in London.

  1. I simply wanted to appreciate you all over again. I do not know the things that I might have used in the absence of the basics shared by you on that question. It absolutely was the hard case in my opinion, nevertheless being able to view this skilled way you handled the issue forced me to weep over happiness. I will be thankful for this work and in addition have high hopes you really know what a powerful job you have been providing educating some other people via a blog. Most likely you’ve never got to know all of us.

  2. Who does he think he is, Mariah Carey?

If Adele could perform with no microphone, and two figure skaters could perform with their costumes hanging off, then Wolff could have pressed on. I’m sure the journalists present with him in the studio could have relayed the question through pantomime or interpretive dance.

Wolff is a demonstrable liar. It is reprehensible for him to have dragged Nikki Haley, who is married, into his political guerrilla warfare.

People are willing to go way too far because they do not like who won the presidency. For shame.

  3. Trump’s Tuesday tweets included a Turley quote derived from his assembled anti-collusion opinion.
Might have been a feather in Turley’s cap if the public didn’t know about the Trump lawyer who wrote Stormy’s check nor, about another Trump lawyer, Dowd, you took credit for writing damning Trump tweets, nor, about Trump getting all of his info. from the unvetted Fox echo chamber.

  4. Off topic – but I think that Hope Hicks sees her appearance before the House Intel Committee as just that – an event in which she’s mostly just a celebrity who’ll get miles of positive PR just for being there.

On the other hand, as a highly experienced professional, she might well take the whole thing seriously. As a celebrity whose closeness to the Orange Dreamsicle man assures her that as a team player, she has nothing to fear.

    1. Funny, how those who are the first to claim to support for the ME TOO movement, proudly walking alongside throngs of women wearing pink-pussy-hats, are the very first to throw stones at an attractive woman, residing in another part of the political spectrum, for simply performing her job. She is denounced as simply wanting to be a celebrity, cashing in on her looks and lacking in any real intelligence or ability. My, my, my. . .how so very un-pink-pussy-hat of you. Denouncing an individual, of whom you know nothing, simply because she is a woman. Where is the outrage? The moral indignation? Where is the condemnation, from the left, when an attractive woman is immediately–immediately–cast as nothing more than a whore. . .a woman having an affair with the President? Huh? Every attractive woman, connected with the administration, is, automatically, labeled as one whose value could only be in her sexual talents, and the left is fine with that narrative. Fine with supporting that opinion. Fine with reducing every attractive woman, in the administration, to nothing more than a whore; yet, when men, in the past, have viewed women, in precisely the same manner and acted upon those beliefs, they are shunned and punished with ostracism. Funny, isn’t it?

      1. bam

how about: “a serious, hardworking, attractive celebrity” – who may or may not be Ivanka’s rival?

  5. Dude is a coward – but now a wealthy one.

OT – Killery is going to Australia to promote her own absurd book. Wonder if she will take questions on the millions Aussie taxpayers were forced to “donate” to the Clinton Foundation?

Retired Australian police detective Michael Smith has accumulated startling evidence of millions of dollars mishandled”

  6. Actually there is NO “…questions over his journalistic integrity and recent conduct”. It’s despicable.

I’ve noticed that almost all of the president’s dim detractors make certain never to speak of his war crimes or other crimes with which they all essentially agree on. If they wanted to impeach him, the Dims in Congress could do it, they would just implicate themselves in the process. Not one of these people has integrity or the courage to call out Trump for actual crimes. These are truly evil people. They are willing to use our nation to glorify themselves, to make money while letting the whole nation go to HE#$. Other than true believing Dims and paid trolls, everyone else is disgusted. (And maybe even some of the paid trolls get a little disgusted!)

    1. Most of da dems supported da dear leaders defense budget which is da bigliest ever. Those weapons and secret wars are bankruptin da country.

      1. Look just like the one’s the war monger party you represent has had in place since 1909 607,000 US nchdead d since the Progressives first got elected versus maybe 6000 with the GOP in charge. Can’t argue with facts jack the left is one sick blood thirsty bunch of evil people.

Source any recent NY Times World Almanac in any of their annual editions.

  7. It’s called “pulling a Reagan”, and it’s normally only to be used by elected officials.

  8. So, the $60,000 question of the day:

How much widespread coverage and scrutiny–not to mention, criticism–will this bald midget, from the left, receive, from his complicit cohorts in the media, where they robustly, and accurately, paint Wolff as a blatant and flagrant liar? A man who is not to be believed?

Yeah. That’s the question. The true question. He was onscreen, 24/7, when his book was hitting the shelves. You couldn’t turn on the television without seeing the weasel–that is, when he was playing the part of trashing Trump via his book, which, undoubtedly, is bursting with journalistic integrity and honesty. The Messiah, come to reveal his purported insights into Trump and the White House. Red meat for those so desperate to ingest anything which trashed Trump. His reputation for honesty? Pshahhh. His longstanding reputation, for lying and distorting the truth, was not covered by the media then, and, trust me, this non-story will receive the same lack of traction by his fellow leftists, in the media, who are all too eager for their version of Trump to be disseminated. He will not be branded as a liar, although that is, precisely, who and what this turd is–a consummate liar, whose words and accusations should not be taken at face value. Yeah, folks. . .you read it here. He won’t be bashed by his fellow travelers, where he loses all credibility. That is reserved for those sitting on the other side of the political spectrum. This munchkin is gonna skate.

  9. Granted that Wolff should probably issue a correction to the some of the words in his book, I’m still not sure why the Turley’s of the world think that this one individual would actually know anything about someone else’s sexual activities. Both Wolff and, especially, the media all look stupid and, especially, arrogant with these interactions.

  10. I have tried the “bad hearing” excuse with my wife; didn’t work then either.

Mr. Wolff got his 15 minutes; suspect that he is now on the down slope; but he is laughing all the way to the bank.

    1. Very young children have been known to pull the “I can’t hear you” trick.

Maybe he was following his lawyer’s advise. (And his lawyer is a very young child.)

      1. T rump is tweeting “witch hunt” today. Cause Hope the gal he called the best piece of tale is testifying.

        1. Truxzt Ken to be the first to come with a miss spelled four letter word and gutter level garbage in an adult conversatrion.

          1. Ken is most definitely a permanent resident of the gutter. It’s all he talks about. Ever. I’m starting to think he is really a 13 year old boy.

    2. Paul – That leaves Trump free to tweet he’s been “totally vindicated” and this proves he’s never had an affair in his whole life. I just received a copy of, Fire and Fury in the mail from my library and will attempt to broach it soon. Someone sent me a PDF copy earlier and I found it almost unreadable. Not for the content but for its style and grammar. In his rush to publish, perhaps he missed the part about second and third drafts?

            1. Now you know how the vast majority get bored reading your comments, K en da.

      1. enigma – since no one in the Lame Stream Media expected Trump to win there had to be a rush to publish.
