Day Care Operator Who Drugged Children To Go To Tanning Center Sentenced To Over 21 Years

1520796404976We recently discussed the criminal case against three day care workers accused of giving drugged Gummy Bears to children.  They are unlikely to take much encouragement from the case of January Neatherlin, 32, who was just sentenced to 21 years and four months for drugging kids at an illegal day care facility in Bend, Oregon so she could go tan and do Cross-Fit training.  Neatherlin pleaded guilty to 11 counts of first-degree criminal mistreatment and a count of third-degree assault.

When police arrived at her Little Giggles day care, they could seven children younger than five unattended.  As with the Illinois case involving Kidde Junction, Neatherlin used melatonin to induce sleep in the children. It turns out that she also misrepresented to parents that she was a registered nurse.

The sentence reflects allegations of harm to the children and (thus far) have not been alleged in the Illinois case. It also reflected her  running an illegal center for four years.  She also has prior felony identity-theft convictions under the names January Livsey and January Brooks.

That adds up to 21 years plus four months.

    1. Squeeky – your uncle was just saying he was not banging that crazy chick just so you wouldn’t think less of him. 😉

      1. Possibly. But he is like the epitome of a misogynist, sooo who knows. I could never get a straight story of exactly what they were doing when they were together. He says she liked to watch movies, and was fun to be around. But yeah, he was probably screwing her.

  1. So the daycare gal gets prison while every psychiatrist gets a free pass for drugging children who grow up to be mass killers. Twenty-one years? Seriously, how many years did corrupt bankers and Wall Street crooks get? The judicial system is comprised of sadistic psychopaths who don’t know whether to sh*t or go blind. They’d cane and shock her, too, if they could get away with it.

    1. Stop with the banker $hit and the psychiatrist bs and attempt, if you can, to stick with the facts at hand–this broad drugged the kids and left them alone to go to a tanning spa. How would you feel if that happened with one of your own kids, where, one of your own kids was sedated, without your permission, and deserted by the child’s caregiver? Do you only comprehend the severity of dangerous actions when, and if, they personally, happen to you? Okay. . .now go back to your rant about the greedy bankers and the corporate scoundrels, because that makes so much sense in response to this article.

  2. This is a slightly different fact set. She is running an illegal daycare. She left the kids alone to go to the gym and get a tan. And she misrepresented herself as a registered nurse. I don’t see a similar fact pattern.

  3. Several regular contributors, bizarrely and oddly, supported the three stooges, from the other thread, who gave melatonin-laced gummy bears to kids in their daycare in an effort to make them sleep. They claimed that it was no big deal, just like administering milk and basically–harmless–harping on some false theory that supplements pose no danger to anyone and making sure to chastise anyone daring to believe otherwise–accusing those, with valid and legitimate concerns, as alarmists. Yeah. Right.

    1. No one ‘supported’ those women.

      Stop misconstruing what people said.

  4. I sure hope she is serving her time at some non country club prison.

She needs 21 years of a chain gang or breaking rocks.
