D.C. Council Member Who Believed That Jewish Bankers Control the Weather Leaves Holocaust Museum Tour Early After Bizarre Observations

Trayon_WhiteWe recently discussed the bizarre statement from D.C. Council member Trayon White Sr. (D-Ward 8) that Jewish bankers controlled the weather.  White’s stupefying stupidity became an international sensation, which he did not help with his apology: “I have spoke [sic] to leader and my friends at Jews United for Justice and they are helping me to understand the history of comment [sic] made against Jews.”   Putting aside the need for a refresher, White sought to mollify his critics with a visit to the Holocaust Museum which has made the situation only worse with bizarre questions and an early departure.

At one point, White stopped to look at this picture of a woman being paraded down a street wearing a large sign reading “I am a German girl and allowed myself to be defiled by a Jew.” She is surrounded by Nazi stormtroopers.  Here is how the Washington Post reported the exchange that followed:

D.C. Council member Trayon White Sr. (D-Ward 8) studied the image. “Are they protecting her?”

Lynn Williams, an expert on educational programs at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and White’s tour guide for the day, stared at the photo.

“No,” she said. “They’re marching her through.”

“Marching through is protecting,” White said.

“I think they’re humiliating her,” Williams replied.

White then disappeared and later, when called by a Rabbi, explained that he had to go to a ward meeting half way through tour.

His staff fared little better.  When the Rabbi was showing White’s staff images of the Wassaw Ghetto, one of the staffers asked whether it was similar to “a gated community.”

It must taken considerable self-control for the Rabbi, who responded “Yeah, I wouldn’t call it a gated community. More like a prison.”

When asked if he no longer believed the Jewish banking family the Rothschilds controlled the weather, White said    “This opportunity has given me the chance to meet a lot of great Jews, a lot of people. A lot of good Jews that I’ve never had the chance to meet before,  It’s an awesome experience.”

“Ken, you write: ‘It would take us too far afield here to do justice to the causes of the Korean War, …U.S. Air Force, in response to the North Korean invasion ‘

“North Korea attacked South Korea and when the UN entered the war your logic is that the North Koreans remember US bombing. You totally dismiss the fact that it was North Korea that attacked South Korea.”

Leaving aside for the moment the fact that the US was not attacked by North Korea, are you saying that whoever initiates a military conflict should be subject to any retaliatory action whatsoever by the party attacked or by its allies, including the napalming and carpet bombing of civilian men, women, and children and the destruction of the aggressing nation’s food supply?

Do you similarly think that Russia or China, both of whose governments opposed the US invasion of Iraq, would have been justified in laying waste to the entire US, reducing its population by 20% in the process, as the US did to North Korea?

Whatever your position in that regard, what’s important is the North Korean government’sposition on the question, as they’re the ones who have to become convinced that there won’t be a reprise of what happened to North Korea during the Korean War, as well as what happened in Iraq, Libya, and Syria.

Now if you think that Jong-un’s just some tin pot paranoiac whose fears concerning what the USG might do to him and his country are nothing more than symptoms of his mental illness, I want to remind you that if so, he’s a tin pot paranoiac with nuclear weapons, and there remains the challenge of getting him to give them up.

And if you think John Bolton has the right idea when he writes, “It is perfectly legitimate for the United States to respond to … North Korea’s nuclear weapons by striking first,..” “Given the gaps in U.S. intelligence about North Korea, we should not wait until the very last minute.”, then I urge you to watch the video linked to below, because I’m confident that you don’t know what a mountain of grief you’re asking for:

    1. “Do you similarly think that Russia or China, both of whose governments opposed the US invasion of Iraq, would have been justified in laying waste to the entire US,”

If in the 1950’s Russia had the ability to wipe out the US they would have done so and you would be typing in Russian.

“Whatever your position in that regard, what’s important is the North Korean government’sposition on the question, as they’re the ones who have to become convinced that there won’t be a reprise of what happened to North Korea during the Korean War”

No. You are the one that is convinced.

“Now if you think that Jong-un’s just some tin pot paranoiac whose fears concerning what the USG might do to him and his country are nothing more than symptoms of his mental illness,”

I won’t play the game of psychiatrically characterizing Kim, but we have seen what he and his predecessor have done. A starving population and the murder of anyone that gets in the way. We know exactly what type of murderous man we are dealing with.

Actually one might call him pretty rational. He and his predecessor benefitted greatly from his killing and threatening. He got what he wanted from people that believe like you do and now he even is on the threshold of owning deliverable nuclear missiles. Do you think that will make him less aggressive?

If you do then why don’t you start a program delivering nuclear missiles and rockets to every country of the world and where there is revolutionary action provide the same to the revolutionaries.

He got what he wanted from people that believe like you do and now he even is on the threshold of owning deliverable nuclear missiles. Do you think that will make him less aggressive?”

How could his “killing and threatening” benefit his predecessor?

What is it you think I believe that has helped him get what he wanted?

What did he want and how have people “who believe like I do” gotten him that?

Against whom has he aggressed, other than some of his own people?

Are you aware that the Chinese government has reportedly told him that if North Korea is attacked, they will come to his defense, but if he attacks another country, he is on his own?

Are you up for a war with China?

What is it exactly that you propose doing about North Korea?

        1. Ken: “How could his “killing and threatening” benefit his predecessor?”

That is how they starved a nation and lived in opulence. That is how most vile dictators manage things.

“What is it you think I believe that has helped him get what he wanted?” He must have seen the movie “The Mouse that Roared”. Are you a mouse? There is both truth and sarcasm in the preceding comments.

“What did he want and how have people “who believe like I do” gotten him that?” He’s a dictator and your mindset is the type that dictators love.

“Against whom has he aggressed, other than some of his own people?”

South Korea along with other nations sending missiles towards Japan, threatening Guam and mainland America. Then again he is following the behavior of prior leadership and that leadership invaded South Korea. Next, I will hear that you believe we caused Japan to attack Pearl Harbor by embargoing certain products and you will tell us that Nazi Germany wasn’t doing anything wrong just making sure the Germans outside Germany’s border were appropriate cared for. You will probably tell us it is totally the Tibetans fault that China dominates Tibet.

“Are you aware that the Chinese government has reportedly told him that if North Korea is attacked, they will come to his defense, but if he attacks another country, he is on his own?”

Take note of the word reportedly.

“Are you up for a war with China?”

No, but at the present, China isn’t up for a war with the US. When North Korea has deliverable nuclear weapons they will be more difficult to shut down. I don’t know that at present China is happy with the situation. China has big internal problems.

“What is it exactly that you propose doing about North Korea?”

I think Trump is doing exactly what I would do. Understand, quite frequently I have been against our foreign policy that has gotten us into wars I thought were wrong to be involved in. I still hold that position but I am not foolish enough to close my eyes and wait for another WW2 that could have been prevented.

  2. When the general electorate is as dumb and gullible as the majority of voters in DC, this is the result. The scariest thing, besides his inability to communicate in standard English, is that he was a member of the Board of Education prior to his run for the city council. Is it any wonder the DC schools spend more per student than any other school district in the country and have the lowest overall performance to show for it?

Here are some facts about Hizzoner, the former “community activist”:
    * Raised by his mother after his father abandoned the family
    * In his early teens, White began living with his grandmother [One wonders what happened to mama?]
    * [also in early teen years] He stole cars, and was arrested by the Metropolitan Police

  3. Intersting. Ward 8 is one of the worst areas of DC. “Anacostia” is what most people here refer to that part of the city. It’s the kind of area the police won’t write you a ticket for if you don’t stop at intersections after dark. I’m assuming this guy is a product of the DC public school system which is also the subject of a local controversy these days due to their incredibly low graduation rate (something like 60% of more DC high schoolers drop out) and shenanigans school administrators engaged in to avoid letting those stats to come to light – and to ensure their kids didn’t have to endure certain DC schools in places like Anacostia. In others words, DC which is something like 97% blue, Democrats produced this clown. Jack Ass Party norm, period.

  4. “Crazy Abe” Lincoln would like to say a few words on the subject. Go ahead, Abe.

    Ahem…

“If all earthly power were given me,” said Lincoln in a speech delivered in Peoria, Illinois, on October 16, 1854, “I should not know what to do, as to the existing institution [of slavery]. My first impulse would be to free all the slaves, and send them to Liberia, to their own native land.” After acknowledging that this plan’s “sudden execution is impossible,” he asked whether freed blacks should be made “politically and socially our equals?” “My own feelings will not admit of this,” he said, “and [even] if mine would, we well know that those of the great mass of white people will not … We can not, then, make them equals.”

    1. But Lincoln grew in office and overcame the racism of his culture and times to become “The Great Emancipator” and, perhaps saving George Washington, our greatest President.

    1. George is also our resident true believer in whacky conspiracy theories.
In light of that I find his comment unremarkable.

      1. wildbill99 – clearly the DNC believes in conspiracies, as does Hillary.

          1. wildbill99 – it was a conspiracy that started WWI, not that that was the intention. It was a conspiracy to assassinate Rasputin. Valkyrie was one of the conspiracies to murder Hitler. The Night of the Long Knives was a conspiracy to decimate the leadership of the Brownshirts. And it appears that Brennan and Comey conspired to get the Steele Dossier published.

Conspiracies are going on all the time. You just have to be aware of them.

            1. You have two or three problems with conspiracy theories: the notion that conspiracies are the motor of history (which trades on the idea that intentional cabals in a room can move institutions, communities, and nations with ease) and the other which cannot be bothered with inductive reasoning, verification, and common sense. (Discussion of the Kennedy Assassination tends to be overrun with the discussion of some participants favorite grab-bag of factoids).

              1. DSS – you are reading into my comment something that is not there. I only present the conspiracy. Not that it is a great engine of change, except for the assassination of the Grand Duke, and that was accidental, which I noted.

                1. I wasn’t reading much of anything into your comment. My argument with Ralph Adamo.

            2. That’s why the qualifier “whacky” is so important. The Illuminati do not secretly rule the world. The CIA did not assassinate JFK, RFK, or MLK.
Jewish Bankers cannot control the weather. These are all “whacky” conspiracy theories, just the sort that folks like Ralph and George revel in.
BTW, I thought it was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo that was the immediate cause of the First World War.

              1. wildbill99 – the Serbian Secret Police (Service) supplied the weapons to the anarchists who conspired to assassinate the Archduke and his wife. It was a double conspiracy. However, they only wanted to get rid of the Archduke, not start a war and Serbia did not expect to get caught with their hand in the cookie jar. 😉

                1. Paul, your comment said it was the assassination of Rasputin that started WW1.
Hence my confusion, especially when Rasputin was assassinated in 1916.

                  1. wildbill99 – I am sure I said it started with an assassination, did not say who. Rasputin was a different conspiracy

                    1. “ it was a conspiracy that started WWI, not that that was the intention. It was a conspiracy to assassinate Rasputin. “

You can see how confusing that is, Paul?

      2. @wildbill99 April 22, 2018 at 10:16 AM
“George is also our resident true believer in whacky conspiracy theories.”

Is Hillary Clinton’s theory of a “vast right-wing conspiracy ” of the “whacky” kind, Bill?

Where on the “whacky” scale is the DNC’s theory that the Russians conspired to influence the 2016 presidential election?

Are all conspiracy theories “whacky”? If so, isn’t this adjective redundant? If not, how do you distinguish between the whacky ones and the non-whacky ones?

You’ve obviously given this some thought, Bill, so please share your conclusions. 🙂

        1. Are all conspiracy theories “whacky”?

Pretty much. The people who trade in them have an allergy to inductive reasoning.

          1. @Insufferable April 23, 2018 at 10:25 AM
” ‘Are all conspiracy theories “whacky”?’

“Pretty much. The people who trade in them have an allergy to inductive reasoning.”

If someone confesses to having conspired with others to commit a crime for which he has the means and motive, identifies co-conspirators in the crime, and provides independently verifiable evidence of his having committed the crime, would a prosecutor be a “whacky conspiracy theorist” to file conspiracy charges against that person?

            1. Again, there is a distinction between an unlawful combination for discrete ends (on the one hand) and beginning with the notion that some set of historical events must be the result of the machinations of guys in a room and reasoning deductively from there.

        2. Hillary Clinton’s assertion of a vast, right wing conspiracy was sort of whacky, yes.
Not all conspiracy theories are whacky, hence the need for the qualifier to accurately describe the nonsense George and Ralph routinely spew.
And that the Russians did attempt to influence the 2016 election is pretty much a given now, the only debatable aspects being how effective they were and whether there was any collusion with members of the Trump campaign.

We will have to wait and see on those.

          1. “And that the Russians did attempt to influence the 2016 election is pretty much a given now,”

Wildbill can you tell me an election the Russians didn’t attempt to influence. Sometimes you sound as if you were just born into the world of politics.

            1. The scale and method of the Russian 2016 interference is unprecedented in US Presidential elections.
Hell, who even knows who Putin preferred in the 2012 election?

              1. How do you know? You don’t. Try providing a comparison. The scale of your awareness of Russian involvement is unprecedented.

You are basing a lot of your comments on leftist talking points. You realize of course those talking points from the left change based on what makes the left look best at the time. There is little truth in that type of talking point which is totally self-serving and you seem to fall for each and every one of them.

                1. You have some proof of Russian interference in another American Presidential election on the scale of 2016 ? If so, provide it.

                    1. In other words, you can’t provide an example of such interference in any previous election. No surprise there.

                    2. No. It has been reported that Russians have interfered in other elections. In fact, the US interferes in foreign elections. I don’t think there is any question about that. The only thing to be proven is your comment: “The scale and method of the Russian 2016 interference is unprecedented in US Presidential elections.” that wasn’t accompanied by any evidence.

    1. willistina556 – would you cite a source for that claim, please?

            1. David Benson – it is not that I am lazy, I just don’t follow orders. Order following is for sheeple.

      1. https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/1995/09/slavery-and-the-jews/376462/

a review of an interesting book

Jews were slave traders throughout the Muslim world, as well as money-changers and lenders, and lawyers and doctors, peddlers, etc. I’m sorry, it may have been bad, but it was a lawful trade. There’s ample historical evidence of this, it goes with the understanding that they were generally not farmers and could be kicked out of one principality or another for centuries. Only today are people incensed by the obvious historical truth, which is now relentlessly politicized.

        1. wiki has a thorough and interesting article on it. study the sources if you want to nitpick. this is just what I am reading, i am not an authority on such things

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_views_on_slavery#Assessing_the_extent_of_Jewish_involvement_in_the_Atlantic_slave_trade

Historian Seymour Drescher emphasized the problems of determining whether or not slave-traders were Jewish. He concludes that New Christian merchants managed to gain control of a sizeable share of all segments of the Portuguese Atlantic slave trade during the Iberian-dominated phase of the Atlantic system. Due to forcible conversions of Jews to Christianity many New Christians continued to practice Judaism in secret, meaning it is impossible for historians to determine what portion of these slave traders were Jewish, because to do so would require the historian to choose one of several definitions of “Jewish”.[135][136]

        2. The entire word dealt with slaves at one time and the biggest slave traders that remain are Muslim. Even blacks owned slaves in America and there were even white slaves in America that so happen to be treated worse than black slaves. You are an anti-Semite and ignorant of history. Where you come from I don’t know but I pity those that must live in close quarters with you.

            1. What about it? Slavery is terrible, no matter who suffers under it. That white slavery has existed doesn’t make the black slavery any less abominable.

              1. “What about it? Slavery is terrible, no matter who suffers under it. ”

                That is the point.

  5. They are taught to hate white people. Look at small children of every color, they play happily and have a great time. As they grow they learn hate. In Chicago you die in exorbitant numbers. Not completing high school is not unusual. So misdirected hate, fear of dying, not taking advantage of the free education combine so that so many children get lost in a dismal system. I expect to be called Racist.

      1. My guess, no. And doubtless they would be surprised that their stereotypes might be found offensive.
        Absolutely Clueless.

        1. 1. The South Side of Chicago, the West Side of Chicago; Harvey, Illinois; East Chicago, Indiana; and Gary Indiana have homicide rates around about 47 per 100,000. The national mean is about 5 per 100,000 and the rate for remainder of greater Chicago is around 3 per 100,000.

          2. Yes school disorder and academic failure are a problem in those named areas. In fact, some peddlers of comparative assessments find Chicago’s schools to be the nation’s worst.

            1. “Which is a result of race or poverty?”

Wildbill, this demonstrates that you have little understanding of cause and effect. You limit the variables to only two variables under the assumption if it is not one it must be the other. You have never learned how conclusions are supposed to be drawn.

A better statement (though still not terribly good) would be ‘Which is a result of race, poverty or an unstated variable?’

It is things like this that make a lot of your comments substandard.

  6. Oh…my…God.

This is an indictment on the public education system. And the people who raised someone this ignorant.

Clearly, they erred in thinking that a trip to the Holocaust museum would do it. He has absolutely no idea what happened. They need to start at square one and show him a documentary. Approach this like he’s a native Persian who was raised, i.e. brainwashed, into thinking that the Holocaust didn’t really happen.

The Museum has some good resources:

    https://www.ushmm.org/educators/teaching-about-the-holocaust/general-teaching-guidelines

This incident can circle back around to free speech and employment. He has the right to voice his ignorant opinions. The government may not oppress him for it. But those opinions reflect upon his education and character, and it can impact his employment. If the people in his district continue to vote him in, then what does that tell you about their own level of education and anti-semitism?

As I’ve said before, the phrase “Never forget” in regards to the Holocaust should be amended to, “Never forget to teach your children about the Holocaust.” Otherwise, we will be doomed to keep repeating the failed mistakes of the past. To illustrate our poor grasp on history, academics continue to preach the evils of capitalism and the glamour of socialism, when the latter killed millions of people and was the worst polluter. They put a shine on fool’s gold and keep trying to sell it to kids who weren’t taught any better.

    1. Karen S – the Holocaust is barely touched on in history anymore. That is if you get to WWII at all.

      1. @Paul C Schulte April 21, 2018 at 2:53 PM
“Karen S – the Holocaust is barely touched on in history anymore. That is if you get to WWII at all.”

Dr. Norman Finkelstein says not to worry, the exploiters of the Holocaust industry will make sure that the world never forgets whom it owes an eternal debt:

The Holocaust Industry: Reflections on the Exploitation of Jewish Suffering is a 2000 book by Norman Finkelstein, [Ph.D.], in which the author argues that the American Jewish Establishment exploits the memory of the Nazi Holocaust for political and financial gain, as well as to further the interests of Israel.

“According to Finkelstein, this ‘Holocaust industry’ has corrupted Jewish culture and the authentic memory of the Holocaust.

“Finkelstein states that his consciousness of ‘the Nazi holocaust’ is rooted in his parents’ experiences in the Warsaw Ghetto. With the exception of his parents themselves, ‘every family member on both sides was exterminated by the Nazis.’ Nonetheless, during his childhood, no one ever asked any questions about what his mother and father had suffered. He suggests, ‘This was not a respectful silence. It was indifference.’

“It was only after the establishment of ‘the Holocaust industry,’ he suggests, that outpourings of anguish over the plight of the Jews in World War II began. This ideology in turn served to endow Israel with a status as ‘victim’ state’ despite its ‘horrendous’ human rights record.”
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Holocaust_Industry

        1. Finkelstein is a supporter of terrorism and terrorist organizations. ” I do want to express solidarity with them” He thinks the extermination of over half the Jewish population of the world because they were Jews was a nothingburger. Anti-Semites get a charge from this heinous individual because it can promote their own anti-Semitism.

Ken, my comments are not directed at you unless you take Finkelstein a bit too seriously.

          1. @Allan April 22, 2018 at 7:24 PM
“Finkelstein is a supporter of terrorism and terrorist organizations.”

If he supports “terrorist organizations,” it’s tautological that he supports “terrorism,” but which ones does he support?

            1. It’s a false accusation. They hate Finkelstein. She probably means he supports telling the truth about the Palestinian suffering under Israeli occupation. Finkelstein also dares to tell the truth about such things as the ethnic cleansing of hundreds of thousands of Arabs from newly-formed “Israel” in which they were lucky to escape with their lives, but their homes were stolen by the Zionist state, forcibly, with no just compensation. Here that is forbidden by our fifth amendment. If there is eminent domain, the state has to pay.

              1. Ethnic cleansing, Kurtz? I guess you don’t know your history. Let me repeat a bit of the history provided at an earlier time. The families of Palestinian suicide bombers that blow up innocent civilians are paid monthly sums of money far exceeding the income of most Palestinians. Those that attack Israel and don’t die are paid less based on the severity of their acts. That is what you support. You support that while the Palestinian people are taught to hate and kill being kept in ignorance and poverty by their leaders that die with hundreds of millions of dollars in the bank. You support the subjugation of women and their deaths should someone claim they did something wrong. I find that disgusting

Do you realize that the Arab citizens of Israel have complete rights and are represented in the Knesset and on Israel’s Supreme Court? Are you saying that it was OK that Jews were killed and forcibly evicted from Arab lands being forced to leave all their possessions behind? You realize of course the Arabs that left Israel did so on their own accord and were not being killed. Those that remained are now citizens and even serve in the Israeli army. A forgotten fact is that the number of Jews forcibly expelled from Arab lands was equivalent to the number of Palestinians that left on their own accord. There is no Jewish right of return to the Arab lands they were forced to leave under the threat of death.

A bit of history on the Balfour Declaration of 1917. It did not cause the conflict between the Palestinians and the Israeli’s. The League of Nations endorsed the Balfour Declaration. This endorsement was similar to the Ottoman Empire’s communications on the subject and it was accepted by Palestinians and Arab leaders who felt coexistence was beneficial to all. Extremists on the Arab side, unfortunately, gained power. During WW2. Jerusalem’s Mufti Hajj Amin Husseini allied himself with Hitler and was very encouraged by Hitler’s war against the Jews and the extermination of half their population.

Don’t forget Jews have continuously lived in Israel over 2,000 years before Mohammed was born. Also, don’t forget that all too often anti-Zionism is a cloak for anti-Semitism because the objective is that the Jewish people in Israel be driven into the sea. Finally (re your comment about some prominent Jews), remember that just because one is born a Jew doesn’t make what they say any more important than anyone else. A good number of prominent Jews supported Stalin and all the killings under Stalin. Their Jewishness took second place in that slaughter and so it is that some Jews will promote their leftist identities over their Jewishness along with any sense of decency.

                1. @Allan April 23, 2018 at 6:57 PM
“Ethnic cleansing, Kurtz? I guess you don’t know your history.”

Do me a favor and fact check this Israeli General’s son, will you Allan? His history of Israel seems seriously at odds with yours. Thanks for checking him out, and let me know where you think he goes wrong.

                  1. I tried several times Ken, but all the video did was to leave me with the pinwheel of death. There is a lot of history out there that has been purposely manipulated to change history and some of that material is manipulated over and over again. If you wish to provide me the name and the circumstance you are interested in do so and I will see what I can do.

You can see for yourself what is happening and listen to the rhetoric. Take Gaza as an example. With force, Israeli forces removed Jews from Gaza and turned Gaza with its Israeli built infrastructure still intact over without any requests. Israel was hoping that would lead to peace, but since then rockets fly from Gaza to Israel and the Palestinian forces force innocent woman and children to the sites of the launchings so that they may be killed if the Israeli’s retaliate. They send missiles from hospitals and anywhere else that would look bad if there was a response. They have dug tunnels across the border to sneak in and kill Israelis. That is how their money is spent while the people suffer.

“I tried several times Ken, but all the video did was to leave me with the pinwheel of death.”

I just now opened it with no problem. Perhaps you tried it when it was being accessed by a large number of people.

The speaker in the video is the son of an Israeli general and the grandson of one of the founders of Israel. If you can’t refute what he says concerning the history of Israel, you’re hardly going to enjoy any credibility with regard to that history,

                    2. “If you can’t refute what he says concerning the history of Israel, you’re hardly going to enjoy any credibility with regard to that history,”

For some reason, this will not open on my computer which might be my system’s fault, but I don’t doubt that you can find all sorts of people to say good or bad things about Israel. Unfortunately, there is a lot of distortion to history so I don’t doubt that you found someone to say something negative. You can provide me the main point of the video and I’ll try viewing it tomorrow if the video is short, otherwise provide a time stamp and I will listen to the short section you wish.

I have listened to you before on world affairs and you don’t seem to respond when real facts are presented. Your ideas on North Korea alone told me that. However, I will listen to you again and the video if it is short but I won’t waste my time listening to the video if it is long. You can provide the most important one or two items and a time stamp if that is the case. I’m used to people that can’t prove a point so they provide a crazy like Finkelstein to prove their crazy contentions or even people that don’t seem crazy but have a warped view of history.

In the meantime you can review that short history I provided and comment on it. What I wrote is documented in real videos, documents, and history.

              2. Finkelstein is a lapsed political theorist. He doesn’t have any language skills or any specific background in history or sociology or behavioral political science. He’s notable as a puppy-dog of Noam Chomsky. Chomsky’s a rather poisonous character who adopts perverse political positions for the amusement of it. One of his shticks is loathing of the State of Israel, and Finkelsein runs errands for him in this endeavour.

Finkelstein calls himself a ‘forensic scholar’. What that means in practice is that he has no authentic research programme and just writes polemical pieces attacking other people’s work. I don’t think he has any publications in professional journals other than what he’s placed in the Journal of Palestine Studies, and these do not consist of original research.

He was treated with incredible indulgence by the political science department at DePaul – to the point where the department discredited itself. Superordinate committees of the administration intervened decisively to deny him tenure. Given his employment history (14 years of temporary positions various places, and dismissal from at least one of them) and publication record (again, no original research past the dissertation) that he was hired for a tenure track position at all is indicative of an essentially political motive by DePaul faculty.

                1. Alan Dershowitz writes:

“A version of that ploy is being used today. Norman Finkelstein brags that “never has one of [his] articles been published in a scientific magazine.” By his own account he has been fired by “every school in New York,” including Brooklyn College, Hunter and NYU. His chairman at one of these colleges said that Mr. Finkelstein was fired for “incompetence,” “mental instability” and “abuse” of students with politics different from his own. His prospects seemed bleak, so when radical Islamist Aminah McCloud — a follower of Louis Farrakhan — helped him land a job at DePaul, a school that Mr. Finkelstein describes as “a third-rate Catholic university,” he accepted “exile.”

His prospects did not improve when he wrote a screed against Holocaust survivors called “The Holocaust Industry.” The scholar whose work on the Holocaust was the “stimulus” for this volume, University of Chicago professor Peter Novick, warned that: “No facts alleged by Finkelstein should be assumed to be really facts, no quotation in his book should be assumed to be accurate, without taking the time to carefully compare his claims with the sources he cites. . . .[S]uch an examination reveals that many of those assertions are pure invention.” Nor was he helped when New York Times reviewer Prof. Omer Bartov, an authority on genocide, characterized his book as “a novel variation on the anti-Semitic forgery, ‘The Protocols of the Elders of Zion’ . . . brimming with indifference to historical facts, inner contradictions, strident politics . . . [I]ndecent . . . juvenile, self-righteous, arrogant and stupid.””

            2. I am glad you recognize that support of terrorist organizations means supporting terrorism. There is a bill before Congress that sort of makes that point.

“I am glad you recognize that support of terrorist organizations means supporting terrorism. There is a bill before Congress that sort of makes that point.”

That sounds like something Congress would sort of make a point about. 🙂

Did I overlook the answer to my question regarding which terrorist organizations Dr. Finkelstein purportedly supports, or is it that you don’t know?

                1. Hezbollah. I believe he has also lent his support to Hamas but apparently was more direct about Hezbollah.

                  1. He’s not picky at all. He loathes Israel. He doesn’t care who pulls the trigger, so long as it ends with dead Jews.

His patron Chomsky once wrote a piece (for The Nation, natch) defending the Khmer Rouges in Cambodia. This is one rancid pair.

                    1. I believe what you say is correct, but his comments included Hezbollah in one of his statements, not Hamas though I don’t think it makes a difference to him. He is ignorant and a liar.

        2. Finklestein is a discredited disciple of Noam Chomsky, an actual America hating leftist in the old tradition.
Finklestein’s specialty is hating Israel and supporting terrorist groups like Hamas.

If that’s your cup of tea, fine, but I wouldn’t piss on Finklestein if his heart was on fire.

  7. Couldn’t find the information in either this article or the article “we recently discussed,” but the omitted fact — which goes a LONG way to explain this person’s extraordinary display of Flat Earth Society ignorance is that his a big fan of the Fantastic Farrakhan.

The absence of this information is particularly odd, since Turley went fishing in the WaPo pond for some of the information in this piece, and the omitted information can just as easily be fished for in the same pond.

    1. I think he donated money so right off the bat ‘white people are devils’.

      1. It wasn’t larger, and, in any case, you’ll have a hard time locating credit and underwriting houses that have been in business for > 210 years.
