Victorian Police From West Midlands

However, we have not really seen the other side so here are the officers from Birmingham.  This is the local police from the Moor Street public office in Birmingham between the 1850s and 1870s.

That is a pretty thin looking terrier.

Here is a shot of the streets once roamed by the likes of the Peaky Blinders.

  1. When there is constabulary duty to be done
    Chorus: To be done
A policeman’s lot is not a happy one
    Chorus: Happy one

  2. I share our host’s interest in historical photographs as they often provide not only contemporaneous depiction of the subject but in some ways can offer the opportunity to reflect on today. Here is a photograph of Lewis Powell, one of the conspirators in the assassination of President Lincoln.

Since I first beheld this photograph there was almost a certain artistry underlying the pose. At the very least reminiscent of an Abercrombe & Fitch advert. Surely facing his fate, Mr. Powell would certainly disagree on the need for such an interpretation.

Yet there have been several interpretations of this 153 year old photograph. One I found recently is below. I do not know the designer but this is one form of art I find inspiring.

    1. You might find that occasionally setting aside your resolve to constrain your expressions and underlying thoughts solely to the topic of your loathing of one individual, and allowing yourself numerous opportunities to experience all the other realms of the world will benefit you greater and foster more personal growth and independence.

By submitting yourself to your anger against any one individual, you subjugate yourself to the power you grant your nemeses, for you allow them to control you without them even lifting a finger against you.
