Turley To Speak At Brazosport 50th Anniversary Celebration

downloadToday I have the honor of serving as the keynote address at the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Brazosport College in Lake Jackson, Texas. I have previously spoken at the college which was selected as one of the top ten community colleges in the nation by the Aspen Institute. The Clute and Lake Jackson areas is also the location of the Ron Paul Institute.

The keynote is entitled “Unpacking the Supreme Court: History, Hierarchy and Headlines.”

Brazosport has gone from only 25 graduates in 1970 to more than a 1,000 graduates annually in more than 75 degree and certificate programs, including one of four schools in Texas offering a Bachelor of Applied Technology degree.

The luncheon is hosted by the Brazoria County Council of Chambers and the Economic Development Alliance for Brazoria County from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dow Academic Center at Brazosport College. It is being sponsored by Olin.

It is a beautiful location with a vibrant academic community headed by University President Dr. Millicent Valek.

  1. Community colleges should br promoted and approved. Parents should approved of their kids going to one and not some state frat school like Missou. In St. Louis the Community Colleges are excellent. Go there for two years and transfer to UMSL. Good education. Reasonable tuition.

  2. Professor Turley,
I know they’ll enjoy having you!
And yes, it is beautiful, especially the live oaks.
You probably know that near there was the location of the first Capital of the Republic of Texas, nine years before we became a state. Lots of history.
    Enjoy your trip!
