Charles Ludington, a college friend of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, released a statement that directly contradicted the testimony of the judge on this drinking in college. Ludington told The Washington Post that he gave a statement to the FBI that Kavanaugh was “belligerent and aggressive” as a drunk in college and once threw a beer in the face of someone who insulted him. He is the third college friend who described Kavanaugh as a belligerent drinker in college.
Ludington is an associate professor at North Carolina State University and stated that “When Brett got drunk, he was often belligerent and aggressive. On one of the last occasions I purposely socialized with Brett, I witnessed him respond to a semi-hostile remark, not by defusing the situation, but by throwing his beer in the man’s face and starting a fight that ended with one of our mutual friends in jail.”
Former classmates Lynne Brookes and Elizabeth Swisher have also given accounts similar to Ludington’s statement.
Ludington has taught at North Carolina State University since 2004 and, according to his bio on the university’s website, Ludington specializes in northern European history. He has also taught at the Marie Curie Senior Research Fellow at University College Cork and the Universite de Bordeaux-Michel Montaigne in France.
Ludington earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Yale in 1987 and a Doctor of Philosophy and History in 2003 from Columbia University.
He also played basketball for Yale and briefly played professionally in Europe in Paris and Spain. He has published two books: The Politics of Wine in Britain: A New Cultural History (2013) and A Long Shadow: The Story of an Ulster-Irish Family (2016).
The drinking question could be deemed relevant in two ways. It could taken as reaffirming the description of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. It could also be taken as evidence of perjury by Kavanaugh who denied such excessive drinking. The latter raises a tough question on the use of such an issue as drinking in college should be determinative in a Supreme Court confirmation. Clearly perjury is perjury but these are matters of opinions on how Kavanaugh acted as a college student when drunk.

Very significantly, text messages show Brett reaching out to potential witnesses about Ramirez before the article was published. In his testimony, he said he only learned of these allegations after reading the article. That is a clear case of perjury. See NBC news for that story.
Which means his legal team was given the article to get their response for the story. Or they were advised of the allegation. Relax the grip on your pearls. You are the same party who blissfully ignored Hillary Clinton and her team smashing her Blackberries and laptops with hammers to destroy evidence while under subpoena, and deleting 30,000 work emails, and then using Bleach Bit to wipe her computer…and no, not with a cloth. Your party lost all credibility about law and order years ago in your defense of a criminal.

First, he was a shoe in. Eminently qualified. Then he was accused of being a rapist. Except all named witnesses have no memory of what the heck she’s talking about, and it’s based on a repressed memory, which has been debunked in science.
Then it was about his high school yearbook. Then it was high school drinking. Then it was accusations of perjury because “I loved beer” did not adequately describe his drinking in college and was therefore a bar to the Supreme Court. Then it was that he threw a beer in someone’s face, except a police report said that he threw ice at someone. Ice cubes. In college. He was never charged with a crime.
This is so stupid. You cannot possibly believe that anyone takes this seriously anymore. This is just political terrorism to try to destroy not only a conservative candidate, but to try to tighten any conservative candidate from ever accepting a nomination again.

With friends like Charles Ludington, who needs any enemies? I heard Kavanaugh discuss too much drinking in college, big deal. I was more concerned about Kavanaugh working for Bush II and all the abuses of the Constitution he engaged in: torture, kill list, the Patriot Act, not friendly to the 4th amendment, I can overlook those flaw considering these crazies attempt to stop him

If his team worked to get evidence disputing Ramirez’s claim before it went public, that indicates that their legal team was advised of the allegation.
