“It’s A Good Day For You To Die”: Tennessee Man Allegedly Pulls Gun On Couple Wearing MAGA Hats

One of my favorite scenes from the comedy “The President’s Analyst” was when actor James Coburn (the overly cerebral, new-age psychiatrist) grabs an M-16 and sprays approaching lines of telephone company security guards while screaming “Take that you hostile son of a . . . ” The scene came to mind this week with the arrest of James Phillips, 57, of Cottontown, Tennessee, who reacted to a couple wearing “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) hats at a Sam’s Club by pulling out a gun and threatening, “It’s a good day for you to die.” That will show those unhinged MAGA people.

Phillips was shopping with his mother at the store.

Terry Pierce told WNKY that he and his wife Cherrie were shopping when Phillips allegedly flipped the bird and, when confronted, Phillips said he did it because of the “hats you’ve got on.”  He then allegedly pulled out a .40 caliber handgun and said “This is a good day for you to die.”

Terry Pierce reportedly challenged Phillips to either shoot him or fight him. Phillips however left with his mother and was followed by the Pierces. Phillips says that Terry Pierce grabbed him in the parking lot, but police say that surveillance videos confirmed Pierce’s denial of grabbing Phillips. However, Phillips was outside of the camera when he allegedly pulled the gun. Yet, in the parking lot, Phillips told Cherrie, “It’s a good day to die, bitch.”

Phillips entered a not-guilty plea in court for first-degree wanton endangerment according to WBKO.

  1. The whole point is the insane reactions of people who might otherwise be normal when they are exposed to “MAGA” hats.

In a civil society, people do not point guns at others over the hats being worn; those are the actions of people acting out a war. Civil people also don’t react with violence just because of words that are spoken (which is effectively the same as expressions on a hat). And no one has an automatic right to not be offended. So get over it, everybody!

  2. “A U.S. Coast Guard lieutenant and self-identified white nationalist was arrested after federal investigators uncovered a cache of weapons and ammunition in his Maryland home that authorities say he stockpiled to launch a widespread domestic terrorist attack targeting politicians and journalists….

Though court documents do not detail a specific planned date for an attack, the government said he had been amassing supplies and weapons since at least 2017, developed a spreadsheet of targets that included House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and searched the Internet using phrases such as “best place in dc to see congress people” and “are supreme court justices protected.”…

In recent weeks, according to the court filings, Hasson developed a spreadsheet of targets that included top Democratic congressional leaders and media personalities. The list includes “JOEY,” what prosecutors say is a reference to former congressman Joe Scarborough (R-Fla.), now of MSNBC; “cortez,” an alleged reference to freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.); and “Sen blumen jew,” presumably about Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.)…..”

    1. Before anyone can judge or form a “valid” opinion, more information about this incident is needed like:
Where is Hassons Trump Van plastered with 300 pro-Trump stickers?
Where is his collection of red MAGA hats, one for each day of the week and the special ones with elastic stay put bands used only when conducting terrorist acts that jostle the head with explosions that blow the hair too much?
Did he possess the weapons illegally? ( I’m guessing not or that would have been the first line in the first paragraph.)
Can someone cite the statute that makes possession of a spreadsheet illegal?
According to reports so far, Hasson only had a draft of a list and had communicated nothing by email or
via other means. Does this mean that possession of any diary, note to self, fantasy committed to paper, draft of ideas for a spy novel etc. found in a raid by 29 agents is now a prosecutable offense?
Are any and all other non-narrative compliant ventings, rants, musings, lively debates and all other postings on websites now prosecutable offenses as well?
In addition to keeping this country safe is The Patriot Act now an all purpose tool for persecution?
And finally is the Patrior Act itself, which is designed to facillitate such evil, immoral, politically incorrect acts as keeping this country and It’s People safe and panders to the tiny minority of People who do not want their children murdered by gangs of marauding illegal criminals, even legal anymore?
We can’t really chose from the 1 Officially State Sanctioned opinion without these questions being answered….oh yeah, and recieving input from a few dozen rigged polls and CNN telling us with simplistic childish colorful graphics what the State Mandated opinion of the day is.

      1. Silly girl.

The State Mandated opinion of the day is on Fox News. That’s where the President of the State gets it.

        1. Silly Comrade, you still don’t get it, the State run propaganda ministry is playing you with countering stories like the Smollet/Hasson combo.
Maybe if adjusted your tin foil babushka things would clear up for you a bit.

      2. they’ll tag him for possession of narcotics at least. found a lot of roids and tramadol the article says. sounds like maybe all the rest is legal, as you suggest. no substantial step, no attempt

they are always scaring people with a “cache of weapons and ammunition.” a “cache” of weapons maybe but one thousand rounds is a CASE not a CACHE

  3. So someone pulled a gun (allegedly as it wasn’t on video inside Sam’s Club where everything is on video) and the victims then followed the man into the parking lot? Something sounds wrong here.

    1. “Something sounds wrong here.”

It certainly sounds refreshingly original from the oh so limp MAGA “hate” crime: a bottle of bleach, a rope hangman’s noose and 2 Nigerian bodybuilders with the body of death being paid off by an insecure black gay queen with a history of lying

    2. Enigma,…
I was thinking the same thing about similar “unusual features” in this story.
If someone pulls a gun on somebody else, it’s strange that the person who had the gun pulled on him would say “fight me or shoot me”.
Then, on top of that, follow the guy who pulled the gun out of the store and into the parking lot.
Without seeing the video and hearing from the other party and witnesses ( if any), it’s hard to determine what really happened.

        1. Enigma,
          Re your comment that pulling a gun should have been on video given Sam’s Club’s video coverage of its entire retail area;
That may be true that their stores have 100% camera coverage in the retail areas of their stores…..I wonder when this incident was reported, and how long retail giants like Sam’s Club typically retain the video footage.
In a shoplifting case, they probably preserve it a long time.
Maybe in a mere case of allegedly pulling a gun, they don’t go out of their way to save the video.😉😊

          1. Large retail stores, even more than trying to stop shoplifters, are concerned about getting sued. Slip and falls or behavior of their employees. If someone files a claim about an incident a year ago, the video is there. Unlike the outdated systems that rewrite over the tape after 24/48 hours. What happens in a major retail store is forever.

        1. I live in the South. If running from a fight is cowadice, running towards a gun is insanity.
          **************************
That’s exactly what police, our military and the brave do all the time. That you don’t even consider it in defense of you and yours tells me everything I need to know. You may be in the South, but you’re not of the South.

              1. You aren’t defending yourself against someone that already left. Chasing after someone who (allegedly) pulled a gun and threatened to kill you is stupid. What could go wrong?

          1. You must never have been to Jacksonville, they proudly refer to themselves as south Georgia. The panhandle, in fact everywhere except Orlando, South Florida, Tampa and the Keys is definitely South.

            1. Yes enigma…I’ve been to Jacksonville….There are pockets here and there, but Floroda is not the South.
Hubby is half Georgian….half Floridian. You’re from Minnesota, correct?

              1. Originally, left there in 1973, went to school in Nashville (South) lived in Jacksonville for 7 years (South) spent time in Atlanta (South) and although I live in Orlando now, the surrounding Southeners are always making their presence known. Confederate flags and gun racks and all.

        Mespo,
Just saw this movie again, and it reminded me about the exchanges/ comments in this thread.
Here’s an example of why it’s a bad idea to challenge or provoke anyone holding a gun on you.

    3. interesting speculation you make but even a really good video coverage system has holes in it, whether it’s inside prison, casino, or a retail store.

  4. I am glad that this did not happen to me because I would have taken the gun and shoved its muzzle into his muzzle, broke a few rotten teeth out in his foul mouth, and then washed them down his throat with a mouthful of blood and hot gas and lead.

that might have been satisfying but not worth the hassle, as they say—
“when the gun is hot and the perp is not”

then again I don’t wear a maga hat. i dont want anybody to see me coming.

  5. What you get with those that hang around with violence mongers. Foreign Wars or obstetric wards All the same with that upbringing wht do you expect? It’s the sugar and starch fed saturday morning violence…..Eating instead of drnking ethanol….
