Report: Trump Intervened To Give Ivanka A Security Clearance

On the heels of the story that President Donald Trump did order intelligence and legal staff to give his son-in-law Jared Kushner a high security clearance, CNN is reporting that he also intervened in his daughter’s security clearance despite both their denials of his playing such a role. The report is likely to deepen the growing rift with Congress over the House Oversight Committee demands for evidence on the controversy.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings has demanded the evidence and this would seem a legitimate matter for oversight investigation. If the President overrode security staff to benefit family members, the Congress has an obvious interest in the matter. There is no question that the President has the authority to order the granting of such clearances. However, that does not mean that the exercise of such authority cannot be an abuse of power, particularly when there are questions of nepotism or favoritism raised by the action.

In what is likely to be a pattern for the next two years, the White House has issued a categorical refusal and set up a fight over subpoenas.

On Tuesday, the White House White House counsel Pat Cipollone said the committee’s request for the information was “without legal support, clearly premature, and suggests a breach of the constitutionally required accommodation process.” I fail to see why the request is without legal support or premature. It is the type of demand that is likely to be upheld if a subpoena fight occurs, but that will take time and time is not on the side of Congress.

  1. From Chairman Cummings letter to WH Counsel Pat Cipollone as excerpted from the CNN article to which Turley linked in his original post for this thread:

“If true, these new reports raise grave questions about what derogatory information career officials obtained about Mr. Kushner to recommend denying him access to our nation’s most sensitive secrets, why President Trump concealed his role in overruling that recommendation, why General Kelly and Mr. McGahn both felt compelled to document these actions, and why your office is continuing to withhold key documents and witnesses from this Committee,” Cummings wrote on Friday.

    [end excerpt]

Lookie, lookie, what Chairman Cummings already knows. Gen. Kelly and McGahn both documented Trump’s effort to overrule and to conceal his overruling of career officials who recommended denying Kushner a security clearance. Both McGahn and Gen. Kelly have left the Trump administration. It’s a reasonable inference that Kushner is responsible for the fact that Gen. Kelly and McGahn no longer work for Trump.

Did any of you Trumpers ever see Jared Kushner’s name on a ballot for President of the United States?

How bad is the kompromat that Kushner has on Trump? Worse than Manafort’s kompromat on Trump? Worse than Cohen’s kompromat on Trump? Worse than Putin’s kompromat on Trump? Oy geveldt.

  2. TRUMP OVERRODE ALL CONCERNS..

TO GIVE JARED KUSHNER SECURITY CLEARANCE

Unease about Mr. Kushner’s access to secret information appears to go beyond politics. Mr. Trump’s own intelligence officials are said to have balked at the idea of giving his son-in-law such access, as did Donald McGahn during his stint as White House counsel.

Mr. Trump overrode such advice and ordered Mr. Kushner’s clearance granted, which it was last May.

These were not casual, offhand objections. After the president made his decision, Mr. McGahn was reportedly so troubled that he wrote an internal memo detailing the concerns about Mr. Kushner — including from the C.I.A. — and making clear that he had recommended against the move.

John Kelly, at that time the White House chief of staff, is said to have felt similarly moved to write a memo stating that he had been explicitly “ordered” by the president to grant Mr. Kushner’s clearance.

If true, this is yet another point on which Mr. Trump has misled the public, insisting in January that he had played no role in arranging his son-in-law’s clearance. Just last month, Ivanka Trump made a similar claim, asserting that her father “had no involvement pertaining to my clearance or my husband’s clearance, zero.”

Those untruths are nowhere near as troubling as the fact that intelligence and administration officials were reportedly loath to grant Mr. Kushner access to the government’s deepest secrets.

What was the C.I.A.’s specific hesitation concerning Mr. Kushner and top-secret information? Why does the agency continue to deny him access to “sensitive compartmentalized information”? Why did the F.B.I. raise questions about foreign influence over Mr. Kushner?

As The Times reported last month:

“The full scope of intelligence officials’ concerns about Mr. Kushner is not known. But the clearance had been held up in part over questions from the F.B.I. and the C.I.A. about his foreign and business contacts, including those related to Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Russia, according to multiple people familiar with the events.”

Mr. Kushner’s inaccurate statements to the F.B.I. about his foreign interactions are cause for additional concern.

And many, many eyebrows have been raised over Mr. Kushner’s special friendship with Mohammed bin Salman, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia — a coziness strategically and aggressively cultivated by the Saudis. Out of fear that Mr. Kushner, naïve in the ways of diplomacy and foreign affairs, was susceptible to manipulation by the prince, Mr. Kelly attempted to curtail the two men’s private talks by reinstating a requirement that National Security Council officials participate in calls with foreign leaders.

No matter: Mr. Kushner and Prince Mohammed’s bond grew, even withstanding the conclusion by American intelligence agencies that the prince ordered the torture and murder of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Amid global outrage over the killing, Mr. Kushner has been among the prince’s fiercest defenders.

    1. TRUMP IS PRESIDENT AND IS ABLE TO RELEASE CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS.

NO PROOF JARAD KUSHNER SHOULDN’T GET SECURITY STATUS

PLENTY OF PROOF BIDEN AND KERRY INVOLVED IN EQUITY FUND THAT MADE MONEY KNOWING WHAT FOREIGN POLICY MOVES WOULD BE MADE BY BIDEN AND KERRY.

Rather than set up shop in New York City, the financial capital of the world, Rosemont Seneca leased space in Washington, DC. They occupied an all-brick building on Wisconsin Avenue, the main thoroughfare of exclusive Georgetown. Their offices would be less than a mile from John and Teresa Kerry’s 23-room Georgetown mansion, and just two miles from both Joe Biden’s office in the White House and his residence at the Naval Observatory.

In short, the Chinese government was literally funding a business that it co-owned along with the sons of two of America’s most powerful decision makers.
Over the next seven years, as both Joe Biden and John Kerry negotiated sensitive and high-stakes deals with foreign governments, Rosemont entities secured a series of exclusive deals often with those same foreign governments.

        1. Lookie, lookie! It’s The Exposed Nerve Ending’s old pal, Peter Schweizer, with a new book to follow up on his previous effort in “Clinton Cash.” And he gets a glowing review from . . . (that’s right) . . . The New York Post.

  3. The left is in a tither over Ivanka and her involvement in government but forgets the collusion of the left and the Democratic Party with violent communists, Antifa, etc. A lot of Democrats that I am friendly with are totally against communism and violence and “the murder of the rich”, but I don’t think the leftist group on this list know what they are dealing with and some of them don’t care.

Revealed: Antifa Leader Relied On Anonymity To Push Radical, Violent Communist Agenda

Joseph “Jose” Alcoff works with congressional Democrats as part of his day job as a manager with a DC-based advocacy group. But he spreads socialist and communist propaganda when going by the name “Jose Martin.” Identifying as “Chepe,” Alcoff advocates for the violent overthrow of the government and for the murder of the rich. He has relished the mainstreaming of Antifa’s militant tactics in the Trump era.
A 2017 book identified Chepe as an organizer behind Smash Racism DC, the Antifa group that mobbed Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s home in November and ran Ted Cruz out of a restaurant in September.
Smash Racism DC organizer Jose Martin, also known as “Chepe,” is a radical communist and Antifa leader operating in the U.S. He advocates for the violent overthrow of the government and for the murder of the rich and claims to have international involvement in left-wing movements.

Smash Racism DC is the Antifa group that protested in front of Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s house and berated Sen. Ted Cruz at a restaurant until he and his wife were forced to leave. It’s only one of the Antifa leader’s radical left-wing projects.

      2. I’m glad Diane that you actually read the piece posted. You like these violent types like Alcoff, right?

      1. Today is Friday–the end of the week. They said that Mueller would submit his confidential report to AG Barr by the end of this week. Of course, they said that the week before this week. They also said by the end of the month last month. They also said by the end of the year last year. All the same, it could happen today. You never know until . . .

  4. Presidents choose their inner circle. Barring a problematic background check, why wouldn’t Ivanka or Jared qualify for clearance?

We all know about the repeated leaks from the White House. There are significant allegations of various government agencies actively working against Donald Trump. The most prominent example would be James Comey. As I’ve remarked obsessively about before, the mere fact that Mueller is studiously not investigating the candidate who coordinated with Russian spies in an effort to defraud voters, and instead focused on her victim, is indicative of misuse of power. A just investigation would have been about Russian spies providing fraudulent information in a dossier intended to mislead voters, how that dossier became the foundation of a FISA warrant, improper unmasking, as well as cyber security threats. Instead we get “bombshells” like the allegation that Donald Trump said, “Great!” when he heard a rumor about a Wikileaks dump on Democrats. I think we all were interested in what was in it.

Jared and Ivanka won’t turn on Donald Trump. That is a rare commodity for a firebrand conservative President in the White House.

Hillary Clinton’s closest confidante, Uma Abedin, was married to an obsessive sexual deviant, who sexted minors, and her parents run an anti-semitic rather extremist Islamic publication. That didn’t interfere with her security clearance, even when Weiner sexted from her laptop, which improperly contained classified information. I have not heard of a legitimate objection to either Jared or Ivanka. In fact, it is usual and customary for Presidents to make appointments to friends, ambassador being the most common. One would hope they were diplomatic.

I don’t know anything about Jared, but I quite like Ivanka. She seems to have a soothing influence.

“If the President overrode security staff to benefit family members, the Congress has an obvious interest in the matter.” In what way did Trump override security staff? Did they object that Ivanka had ties to terrorism or liked to take selfies in nuclear subs? Or did they question their posting due to a lack of political background…to a newly elected President without a political background? The only objection that I know of is Kushner’s family real estate interests overseas. International business ties preventing clearance would preclude any businessman who operated international, as well as anyone who worked on a large charity (Clinton) from ever becoming President or a senior adviser. Huma’s mother published a radical magazine and a misogynistic book, and that was not a problem.

Unless there was a security concern, it is the President’s purview to appoint advisers, with the concomitant security clearance required to attend meetings. Without clearance, he cannot confide his concerns in the small circle of people he trusted most, and would instead rely on the questionable loyalty of Brutus.

Honestly, I question why this is news. They aren’t terrorists. We all know that anyone can set up a secret server in their bathroom, containing top secret information, and upload it to the Cloud. Anyone without any clearance whatsoever can have access to it, and it’s not a problem. Ivanka could wallpaper a server in pink polkadots and brag about having the nuclear codes in her handbag, and the precedent that has been set would preclude prosecution.

    1. I agree. It’s a reasonable wager this is payback from the allies of Brennan, Clapper, and others in the apparat.

    2. I would love to know if their clearance application was denied and on what grounds however, having had clearances myself, the information one puts into an application and subsequent interviews is intensely private for good reasons; Or, in other words, it’s no one’s damn business. The conspiracy theorists should find something constructive to do with their lives. This isn’t it.

    3. ” Barring a problematic background check, why wouldn’t Ivanka or Jared qualify for clearance?”

Apparently there was a problem and the WH high security advisors to the President cautioned against the clearance.

      1. Of course it might just be due to their desire to hold onto as much power as they have and Ivanka or Jarad could place an extra door between them and the President.

We don’t know the answer, but we do know that there are a lot of big egos all around the White House.

  5. So? The NSC Rules and laws are set in place by an office fullyi under the Executive Branch. Congress made it that way. The President is the Chief Executive Officer of The Executive Branch. Duuuhhhh. Especially when an overly large faction of the Congressional Branch has consistently foisted their job off on other branches and the Judicial Branch has refused to control it’s underlings again foisting them off on the
    Executive Branch.

Get what you asked for and forgot to take it out of force before turning mensheviks? Too damn bad.

  6. Trump giving security clearances over professional advice, is not shocking at all. His governing style of kakistocracy, incompetence, corruption and outright lying is par for the course. Nobody could’ve predicted that a mentally unstable, narcissist with no government experience would instantly be a failure running the most complex office in the world. So give Princess Ivanka and Jared a break, or they will go to their room holding their breath till somebody is nice to them.

    1. If Trump is incompetent, he’s hardly the first president or Executive staff to be so. Consequently, I don’t see your point other than to again complain about Trump which, BTW. is a bore.

  7. LET’S TALK ABOUT 666 FIFTH AVENUE

In January 2007, on the eve of The Great Recession, Kushner Properties paid $1.8 billion for a New York skyscraper known as 666 Fifth Avenue. That price was the highest ever paid for an individual building in Manhattan.

666 Fifth Avenue is a 41 story tower from 1957. Kushner Properties paid that record price with the intention of razing said tower. Kushner reasoned that the tower’s lot on Fifth Avenue, near Rockefeller Center, would be a prime development site for a much taller skyscraper. ..Then The Great Recession hit..!

It appears that Kushner Properties nearly bled to death trying to keep up payments on 666. The company might have crashed had Donald Trump ‘not’ gotten the White House. In fact, the financial pressures 666 put on Kushner’s family was a leading reason Jared had trouble obtaining a White House Security Clearance for his job as Senior Advisor.

Observers have suspected that Jared Kushner used his new position to seek investors for 666. Jared’s bromance with the new Saudi Crown Prince may have been partly motivated by the need to unload 666.

Last year Vornado Realty Trust, a Maryland-based company, rescued Kushner’s stake in 666. Then in August of 2018, Brookfield Properties, a company with Canadian roots, purchased 666. Terms of the deal were not publicly disclosed. Vornado and Brookfield properties are associated companies.
    ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

The following passage is from Wikipedia’s article on 666 Fifth Avenue:

In January 2007, Tishman Speyer, along with the German investment firm TMW, announced the sale of the building to the Kushner Properties for $1.8 billion (about $2.1 billion in 2016, at the time the highest price ever paid for an individual building in Manhattan. This was an unconventional price for such a short building by New York standards, standing at 483 ft (147 m). 666 Fifth is not among the top 100 tallest buildings in New York City, but its high price was mainly because of its location on Fifth Avenue near Rockefeller Center. Kushner sold the retail condominium portion of 666 Fifth to a Stanley Chera-led group for $525 million in 2008 (about $590 million in 2016. In March 2017, reports were made that Anbang Insurance Group of China was in talks to purchase an interest in the building, based on a value of $2.85 billion ($1.6 billion for the office section, and $1.25 billion for the retail section); some of the alleged terms of the deal were called “unusually favorable,” including an exit for Vornado Realty Trust and retirement of the Kushner organization’s remaining debt at 20 cents on the dollar, raising concerns about political influence on the Donald Trump presidential administration due to Jared Kushner’s position. Shortly after the reports were made, Anbang denied that they were looking to invest in the building.

In March 2017, Zaha Hadid Architects announced plans for a $12 billion, 1,400 foot skyscraper being developed by the Kushner organization to replace the current building. The new building, to include retail and residential space and a hotel, would be completed by 2025 at the earliest, and would face a park, created by razing a block of current buildings. The developers also plan to change the name to 660 Fifth Avenue, to avoid the diabolical association with the number 666. The plans to replace the current building were later withdrawn.

In late April 2017, Charles Kushner met with Qatari Finance Minister Sharif Al Emadi in an attempt to secure funding for the tower from Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund. Emadi did not agree to invest Qatar’s fund in the project. About one month later, the 2017-18 Qatar diplomatic crisis began. Jared Kushner reportedly undermined United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s efforts to resolve the crisis.

In September 2017, the Washington Post wrote: “With one-fourth of its offices empty, lease revenue does not cover monthly interest payments, according to lending documents. A $1.2 billion mortgage, with escalating interest rates, comes due in 18 months. A ratings agency has classified a $115 million portion of the loan as ‘troubled,’ and company officials decline to say whether it will be fully repaid.” Due to the large amount of debt owed on the tower, Vornado Realty Trust, which owned 49.5 percent of the tower, said in February 2018 that it planned to sell its stake in the building. Vornado’s stake in the property was subsequently sold to Kushner Cos. on June 1, 2018.

In August 2018, Brookfield Properties purchased the building.

    1. More excellent work from Mr. H.

Keep an eye on this story. It is NOT going away anytime soon.

      1. The report also notes one of the power plant manufacturers that could benefit from such a deal includes Westinghouse Electric, a subsidiary of Brookfield Asset Management, a company which struck a deal in August to rescue the Kushner family’s 666 Fifth Avenue tower in Manhattan from massive debts.

Scroll downstream for more details. You would not believe.

          1. Thanks, Diane. 666 Fifth Avenue is an under-reported subplot amid all the intrigues involving this White House. Had it not been for the Mueller Probe, Kushner’s financial woes might have been a front burner story.

            1. Maybe 666 has been over reported not under reported. When we deal with Billion dollar real estate purchasers there are only a limited number of groups of people that can possibly be involved. Thus one can data mine connections between one group and another. Therefore, one can find similar connections with almost anyone that deals with such purchases. The same people that buy expensive homes in NY also buy similar homes in Palm Beach Fl, California, Paris and elsewhere. They are all relatively closely linked. That is why real proof is needed and that real proof doesn’t exist or at least doesn’t exist in a public venue.

    2. Did someone say 666 *sigh*

They always get my number wrong. It’s 616.

C’mon now. Or at least that’s the one I left back in Virginnie.

      616 people!!!

That shall include 3 exclamation points.

I only go with 3, 6, or 9. Special numbers if you ask me.

Nikola Tesla knows what I am talking about…

      😈

  8. Oh look, another news bit that is sure to place Trump in the White House in 2020 while the Dems chase russia collusion
At least Americans know: Trump loves Amercians while the Dems hate us and crave power

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/more-migrant-families-arrested-at-border-in-five-months-than-any-previous-full-year-11551810657

Record Immigration Surge at the Border
Number has been steadily rising since fiscal 2015, when fewer than 40,000 such migrants were arrested

Arrests of families crossing into the U.S. illegally in the past five months hit a record, prompting the chief of Customs and Border Protection to say the system is at “the breaking point.”

From October through February, border agents arrested 136,150 people traveling in families for crossing the border illegally. The prior record for a 12-month period was 107,212, during the fiscal year that ended in September.

    1. Estovir, why aren’t you using your name anymore? Did you wear-it-out??

      1. PETER’S LIE EXPOSED

Peter, instead of trying to accuse the writer of being Estovir you should be thinking of a new excuse why the wall isn’t necessary. We know there will always be one but until now it was because you said the numbers were falling. Others tried to show evidence that what you said wasn’t true but to no avail.

Isn’t it amazing how almost everything Peter says is untrue or a lie?

        1. One of the topics often ignored and dismissed is the rampant child and sexual trafficking that occurs through the southern boarder. A wall would help to funnel human traffic through staffed checkpoints thereby aiding detection and administrative actions. Peter’s position statements, in my opinion, merely provide aid to traffickers under the angelic umbrella that anyone walking across the boarder is an innocent, substantiated on political ignorance and void of factual evidence.

The purpose of a wall IS NOT to zero illegal foot traffic but to increase the cost and effort to those who attempt circumvention. Digging a tunnel is non-trivial engineering and a significant amount of effort. A ladder requires someone to carry a ladder through the parched boarder environment presumably on no additional calorie and liquid sustenance, and under the belief of non-existent response.

          Pfttt.

          1. Thomas, I agree with you completely. We have to add drug trafficking as well. As you say Peter is providing the environment of more human trafficking with rape and murder along with child abuse and drug trafficking where drug overdoses killed about 72,000 per year last count (far more than Vietnam and more than double for auto deaths) We are seeing outbreaks of infectious diseases which may be a result of unvaccinated children enterring our borders. The Democrats have reduced the beds at the border where families were getting medical attention and children vaccinations. Because of Democratic policy these unvaccinated potentially ill children and adults go directly from the border into our cities.

There is a total lack of regard for the welfare of our citizens and those children and adults trying to cross the border by people like Peter and the present Democratic Party.

    2. You need to stop this Us v. Americans rhetoric. Most Americans: 1. Did not vote for Trump; 2. Think he is a crook; 3. Believe Michael Cohen, an admitted and convicted liar over Trump ; 4. Would never vote for Trump in 2020; 5. Disapprove of him; and 6. Voted Democratic last fall, when Trump stated that the election was to be a referendum on him. You Trumpsters are the outliers.

The so-called “surge” at the border (which I question because Trump and his administration are known, chronic, habitual liars) is 100% the fault of Trump, due to incarcerating families and taking away their children just for seeking legal asylum, thereby forcing people to bypass legal immigration. Never forget Trump’s campaign promise: Mexico will pay to build a wall. Mexico isn’t going to pay for the wall, and neither are American taxpayers. Trying to use his illegal tactics to discourage legal immigration to force taxpayers to fulfill his campaign promise is disingenuous.

      1. “Commissioner for U.S. Customs and Border Protection Kevin K. McAleenan strongly rebuked claims by opponents Wednesday that the border is not a crisis. He said he “fundamentally disagrees” with those who called President Donald Trump’s national emergency a “fake emergency” and laid out a litany of statistics exposing the serious humanitarian crisis and national security implications for the United States. He noted “in the first four months of the fiscal year, CBP has encountered an average of 60,000 migrants crossing illegally and presenting at ports of entry without documents.“In February, DHS projects that we will apprehend or encounter over 76,000 migrants, 87 percent of whom are being interdicted crossing the border illegally—a 25 percent increase from January, and what would be the highest February total in more than a decade. By the middle of March—less than six months into the fiscal year— we will have apprehended more people crossing illegally than all of FY 2017,” he said. He was backed up by President Obama’s Board Patrol Chief, Mark Morgan….is he a liar also? He said Trump needs to stay the course.

      2. “Most Americans…” Okay, lets look at that.

When people write about the popular vote what they are implicitly saying is California, Illinois, New York, and the other northeast and west coast states – roughly 28% of the country by population, and ignoring other blue/purple states such as Colorado – should dictate to the rest of the country. That’s not how it works. Get over it.

        “Think he is a crook…”

Maybe. There’s more political rhetoric to these statements from the same people who predicted Hillary would win 2016 than substantiated statistical data.

        “Believe Michael Cohen…”

Really? You’re going to go there?

        “Disapprove of him..”

        More unsubstantiated statistical nonsense.

        “Voted Democrat last fall…”

If you read history then you will find flipping branches during a President’s first term is not a new thing. Look at Clinton and Obama. Again, history.

Speaking of chronic and habitual liars, take a look at the anti-gun industry, or “if you like your doctor,” or Eric Holder held in contempt of congress, or the many of the other instances of activism and political fraud. Trump isn’t “forcing” anyone to bypass the immigration system – that statement in-and-of itself is disingenuous and ignorant of boarder politics dating decades. Again, there is this thing called “history.” You should read it.

What I would like to know is if it’s ok to ignore illegal immigration then what laws may I commit that can also be ignored? Personally, I’m tired of taxation.

        1. That’s some funny stuff.

So, “Americans” doesn’t include people in NY, California, Illinois, etc..and Thomas wants people in S Dakota “dictating” to the rest of the country. What about New Mexico? Can you score all the states that are “American” so we’ll know what nonsense you are talking about?

          1. Anon, learn your American history. We wouldn’t be having the problems we have today if the federal government didn’t usurp so much of the power from the people and the states. You would even stop complaining because you would have little to complain about since the individual states would be managing most of the things in dispute. In other words what you really want is one state, NY or California. You are all about fascism / socialism and progressive thinking where individual rights are abridged and people work for the state rather than the state working for the people.

          2. Of course I did not say or imply any of the irrelevant things Allan posts above. He’s not even good at trolling.

If Thomas or anyone else wants to discuss why they think “Americans” means the chronic minority obedient to Trump and opposed to any number of popular ideas like increases gun control, immigration reform including dealing constructively with the millions of undocumented immigrants already here, Obamacare or alternative universal health plans, and intelligent planning to combat global climate change, let’s hear it.

            1. “Of course I did not say or imply any of the irrelevant things Allan posts above. ”

Anon, you can’t resurrect yourself after your dismal appearance here after using 2 different aliases especially with the attitude you had as Jan F. when you left in a huff.

Notice how you can’t define what Allan said that you object to. Instead you become non specific to include everything.

              1)Anon, learn your American history.
2)We wouldn’t be having the problems we have today if the federal government didn’t usurp so much of the power from the people and the states.
3)You would even stop complaining because you would have little to complain about since the individual states would be managing most of the things in dispute.
4)In other words what you really want is one state, NY or California.
5)You are all about fascism / socialism and progressive thinking where individual rights are abridged and people work for the state rather than the state working for the people.

The only item in question is number 5 not because your ideas aren’t fascist / socialist rather I don’t know that you even understand what the different terms mean. Think of these ideologies as a hammer that puts the nail (the individual) in its place by force.

              1. The Obdurate Blob both wants and doesn’t want the several states along the border with Mexico to build Trump’s boondoggle wall at the expense of their own taxpayers. This is standard boilerplate for anti-federalist libertarians. They want what they don’t want. And they don’t want what they want. They’re all tied up want knots.

                1. Now Diane you are pretending to read my mind. You have enough trouble reading the minds of your multiple personalities that I would think that would be more than enough for you. I am not a crazy nut that leaves the door open for murderers, rapists and thieves. I make sure i know who the person is before I let anyone in.

  9. Meanwhile in truly cringe worthy news ignored by the MSM that is making the Dems totally irrelevant

Anti-Semitism Rebuke Threatens Rift Among House Democrats

(Bloomberg) — A decision by House Democratic leaders to hold a vote on an anti-Semitism resolution that indirectly rebukes one of their own members, Ilhan Omar, has drawn the ire of her allies, threatening to open a generational rift in the party.

    https://news.yahoo.com/anti-semitism-rebuke-threatens-rift-090000290.html

    1. AB, excellent reminder for those on the non thinking left. Thanks. I hope intermittently you remind us all of the important news out there that is being forgotten.

    2. I’m not sure how controversy about anti-Semitism is good news to people like AB, and one wonders if he also celebrated the GOP’s struggle with Rep King or Trump’s defense of the Charlottesville anti-Semitic demonstrators as “good people”.

  10. 1. It’s CNN ‘reporting’.

    2. What ‘denial’? What is the text of what he said?

    3. Why shouldn’t Jared and Ivanka have clearances? They gave Bradley Manning and Edward Snowden mega clearances.

    1. Tabby who is ‘they’ with regards to Manning and Snowden?

And ‘why’ should those traitors justify clearance for Jared and Ivanka?

Arguably Manning and Snowden are good reasons to ‘tighten’ security clearances.

    1. She’s a hugely popular figure for the US and her father who is POTUS. I know people who loathe Trump and yet still like Ivanka. She’s a strong asset for us all.

Jared, not sure about that guy. !

      1. Maybe in Saudi Arabia and Russia, but I guarantee most of our allies hate her guts.

        1. well you must surely know precisely what our allies are thinking, which is why you are typing here anonymously such grandiose sweeping assertions!

at least I know I am a humble person!

          1. If you are so humble, why are you declaring the world’s love for Little Miss Richie-Rich?

              1. I like women without the silicone and plastic surgery, but hey, it’s a free country if that’s what you like.

                1. The humble country lawyer has quite the fashion sense.

And his remark about jealousy is positively catty.

        2. Coming from one (Jan F. / Anon) that gave up one alias for another based on integrity problems.

            1. “So saith the typing carbuncle, again.”

OK Diane, I will say it again.

“Coming from one (Jan F. / Anon) that gave up one alias for another based on integrity problems.”

Diane, does you own lack of integrity provide you with a bond to JanF. / Anon?

              1. No. That’s all your work, Obdurate Blob, with a little help from Doubly Absurd and Ptom Gnash.

                1. “No.”

Diane it sounds as if you want to seperate yourself from the integrity problems of Jan F. / Anon. I guess you realize that you have enough of your own.

                  1. Axiom Schema followed by The Obdurate Blob:

                    Assumption A supports assumption B.
                    Assumption B supports assumption C.
                    Assumption C supports assumption A.

                    All fall down.

                    1. “Assumption A supports assumption B.
                      Assumption B supports assumption C.
                      Assumption C supports assumption A.”

Diane with you it is all very clear. You have no integrity. A,B,C you have integrity, Whether Diane, anonymous or Elaine you have no inegrity.

      1. Enigma, that’s either a sentence fragment, or an assignment. if it’s an assignment, I’ll need a retainer first. let me know.

        1. That’s what she’s skilled at, using her family name and connections to make money. Of course, sometimes it’s fraud and money laundering. A girl has to make a living.

          1. i saw a nice white wool double breasted ladies’ coat branded ivanka the other day. that’s not fraud. that’s branding a nice wool coat. im not sure what you mean money laundering. I guess you could throw that coat in the laundry and it might have some stray singles in it. that would be ivanka money laundering in a way

            https://www.amazon.com/Ivanka-Trump-Womens-Quilted-Raincoat/dp/B078B78BV1/ref=asc_df_B078B78BV1/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=241959365935&hvpos=1o4&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10483662840158221773&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016255&hvtargid=pla-583761878140&psc=1

              1. Enigma:

You disappoint me. Did you not read the very article you posted? It states that a Saudi bought diamonds from Ivanka’s line in order to hide assets after he defaulted upon a loan with a Dubai bank.

Ivanka didn’t launder any money. The article, from over a year ago, expressly stated that her business was not accused of any wrongdoing.

These continued hoaxes targeting conservatives have got to stop. It’s harassment.

                1. First it’s not a hoax, the money laundering is real along with the involvement of Ivanka’s business. She also escaped a faud prosecution after a Manhattan D.A. dropped the charges after a visit from a Trump lawyer who later made a hefty donation to his campaign. There are video’s of Ivanka misrepresenting the condo’s she was hawking. Don Jr was also involved in the fraud case. This is a family of crooks, don’t be disappointed in me, I’m just a messenger.
                  https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-soho-criminal-fraud-case-ivanka-don-jr-dropped-after-campaign-donation-2017-10

                  1. there was a paid ad on google hawking some report about a supposed fraud involving their Panama hotel. Cool hotel! Love to visit sometime.

I hear a rumor…. you know how when you go to the hotel there is a little plastic bag in the closet for dry cleaning with a price list like $5 for a shirt etc?

I hear there, it’s a duffel back and the price lists says “$1 per $20, $10 per $100, etc”

Ha just kidding. could not resist trying for a joke

                    1. lavanderia, ay que rica!

                      Panama-Se queda en ti!

Mossback Fonseca, should have interviewed there, now it’s too late. (llora)

                2. Lying is second nature to some people. In this case the mind is sick and the person wants to justify his hate.

            1. Nothing hateful about enigma’s post though some might disagree with it’s content. Allan’s inability to discuss issues based on facts and logic leads him to personally attack other posters – I’m a target. If he was good at it of course that would be upsetting, but this guy is just an annoying creep. Has he always been this screwed up?

A few elbows and insults here and there can liven things up OK, but that’s not what we have here.

              1. Anon /Jan F have little credibility. I can back up almost everything I say. You can’t which accounts for you running away and changing aliases. Your behavior has been atrocous and deserves all the derision it gets.

              2. Anon asks, “Has he [Allan] always been this screwed up?”

Yes. Since early July of 2017 that I’m aware of. Lately, he’s been under a load of additional stress due to the absence of several of his usual running mates this past week or so. (I’ve taken a vow never to feel sorry for the poor schnook.)

                1. Anyone can read the black and white on their screens to recognize how screwed up you two are. Anon goes byebye and comes back with a new alias but the same Jan F., No Integrity. Diane when she is lucid or when she uses one of her various personalities has No Integrity.

Both have one thing in common. Their lack of concern for the individual. I suggest we get together and buy both of them one way tickets to Venezuela.

  11. This is a clear case of a partisan Democratic Congress trying to usurp the power of the Presidency. Congress has the right to provide oversight on a President, but is using this power as a political move rather than doing its duty. The Democrats seem to lack concern for the nation and its people. The attempt at a soft coup continues but will not succeed and though the country will be hurt in the process by the Democrats they are setting themselves up for a big loss in 2020 and perhaps a loss for the status quo Republicans that have done nothing to protect American freedoms.

One has to continuously fight for individual rights. Democrats have given up on that ideal and so have many Republicans.

    1. If you think for a second the republicans wouldn’t do the same or worse if there was evidence a democrat in the White House was pulling strings to get their family members access to security intel they shouldn’t have you’re kidding yourself. They turned Benghazi into a two year investigation with very limited evidence of anything but a former Secretary of State getting lazy when it came to her emails. Here you have half a dozen members of the campaign either headed to prison, or all facing serious allegations.

      1. No one has explained why Jared Kushner should not have a security clearance.

        1. Ask intell chiefs that Trump hired. Ask White House counsel. They all said no, had to be a reason. And most of all are the people that decide are all non-partisan officials that come from all aspects of intelligence circles. They ARE the true professionals. When you get that many saying no, they HAVE a reason.

          1. yes. the reason is they wanted to hobble and hamstring the Trump presidency from day one, and Ivanka is a huge asset.

Sorry, DJT did not cower before their spooky disapproval! Hail Trump!

            1. Hail Trump? I think you better explain yourself Mr Kurtz. I hope you did not say that with your arm outstretched. If it was a joke, your’e right Hail Trump is funny as hell.

          2. i never hear a bunch of democrats that were such suckups to the “intelligence community” my entire middle aged life with a keen eye on news from boyhood, until the present day. What a bunch of sycophants you have become! Ever heard of the Church committee? Dust off the history books, fawning toadie of spookdom!

        2. Jared Kushner sells the foreign policy and vital national security interests of the United States for personal, financial gain. He is also a wholly owned subsidiary of Mohammed bin Salman, The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. Go ask Bibi Netanyahu what he thinks of Kushner’s scheme to give The Saudis the ability to refine weapons grade plutonium. You are still on Bibi’s team. Aren’t you?

        3. Jared was in desperate financial straits with an upcoming payment due on the 666 Park Avenue building that would have bankrupted his family. He and his family went back and forth between government-owned or supported banks of Russia, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia before finally getting a refinance deal done with the Saudi’s. Then when the Saudi’s ordered the killing of the Washington Post journalist, Jared helped them develop multiple storylines (lies) to try to maintain the US alliance and made sure his partner was able to maintain their relationship despite their criminal and barbaric acts. (Did I mention the reporter was cut up into pieces?). Jared through his various financial deals is beholden to the Saudi’s and other foreign interests, much the same way Trump is beholden to Russian banks.

          1. It is curious that all of this Kushner/Flynn stuff is coming out now. I wonder what it means about the overall process. Did Mueller hand this one off to Elijah Cummings? IIRC, Chairman Cummings was on top of this story before he became Chairman.

            1. Kushner’s SF86 forms are in the custody of The White House. They had been in the custody of the FBI while the FBI was conducting its security clearance background check on Kushner. The people whom the FBI interviewed during that background check most likely reported back to Kushner about the questions the FBI was asking them. Or else the FBI went to White House Counsel Don McGahn with the preliminary results of their background check. Or both. And Kushner revised his SF86 to admit the contact with Veselnitskaya. Further FBI background checks on the revised SF86 eventually led to the public revelation of the June 9th Trump Tower meeting. This is all a matter of public record–except for the SF86 forms, themselves, which remain in the custody of The White House (i.e. Kushner, himself).

Now you show us the paper that names where Barrack Hussein Obama was born–O! Disintegrated One.

              1. “Kushner’s SF86 forms are in the custody of The White House.”
                “most likely”
” Or else” (in other words another choice if the first answer doesn’t work)
“This is all a matter of public record–except for the SF86 forms”

In other words anonymous you also don’t have the proof that Kushner lied. You use a lot of verbiage to hide that fact but in the end you are shooting blanks with statements like “most likely” and claiming public record of things that don’t constitute a lie. This is the same time of garbage used by Anon, Jan F. Diane, Peter, Fishbrains, Enigma, etc., a singular voice of stupidity.

      2. “If you think for a second the republicans wouldn’t do the same or worse if there was evidence a democrat in the White House was pulling strings to get their family members access to security intel they shouldn’t have you’re kidding yourself.”

CK07 family members aren’t necessarily bad if they are capable and the most notable example of family members being utilized was RFK in JFK’s cabinet. No, Republicans aren’t united enough to do the same to Democrats and I don’t think they should. Apparently to you Congress is supposed to act as if they are teams of ruffians fighting one another. for a prize That is not how I look at politics and nor should you.

The investigations for Benghazi and the emails are very pertinent. People have gone to jail for a single picture that violated national security regulations. Hillary not only violated the law but she destroyed the evidence when her hard discs were requested by Congress. Without question that violates the law and the oaths she took. That was criminal. Benghazi was investigated because of the lies that put an American life in jeaopardy after the fact and led to the deaths of Americans. She was not on the ball. She didn’t listen to the reports that the embassy needed further protection. In essence she abrogated her duty. In Libya she pushed us into the war and thereby involved the US in the death of Gaddaffi which meant that all dictators would worry about doing America’s bidding something that surely troubles Kim in N. Korea. It was very destructive to American foreign policy. She involved herself in the Uranium One deal where the Clinton Foundation ended up receiving loads of money and her husband ended up receiving a $500,000 speaking fee. As Secretarty of State these actions should never have occurred. One can go on and on about Hillary Clinton noting that everything I have said is factual or backed up with a wide range of expert opinions.

You are an ideologue, so nothing means anything to you because you refuse to debate or even look at the facts. One can do nothing about that but at least others can see you for what you are.

        1. Since at least 1941 the SC has held that the Espionage Act required deliberate intent to harm the US, a test Hillary did not meet.

“….Section 793(f) is a subsection of the Espionage Act, a controversial statute enacted during World War I in order to combat efforts by German agents to undermine the American war effort. The Act has been amended and renumbered many times, but its core provisions have not substantively changed. The Espionage Act has only sparingly been used to file criminal charges, but when it has been used it is often in high-profile cases. Eugene Debs was jailed under the Espionage Act for anti-war activities during World War I. The Rosenbergs were charged under the Espionage Act when they sold nuclear secrets to the Soviet Union. More recently, both Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden were charged under the Espionage Act for providing classified material to WikiLeaks…..

In Gorin v. United States (1941), the Supreme Court heard a challenge to a conviction of a Navy intelligence official who sold classified material to the Soviet Union on Japanese intelligence operations in the United States. In that case, the defendant was charged with selling information “relating to the national defense” to a foreign power. The defendant argued on appeal that the phrase “relating to the national defense” was unconstitutionally vague, so much so that the defendant was deprived of the ability to predetermine whether his actions were a crime.

Justice Stanley Reed wrote the majority opinion and disagreed that the law was unconstitutionally vague, but only on the very narrow grounds that the law required “intent or reason to believe that the information to be obtained is to be used to the injury of the United States.” Only because the court read the law to require scienter, or bad faith, before a conviction could be sustained was the law constitutional. Otherwise, it would be too difficult for a defendant to know when exactly material related to the national defense. The court made clear that if the law criminalized the simple mishandling of classified information, it would not survive constitutional scrutiny, writing:

The sections are not simple prohibitions against obtaining or delivering to foreign powers information… relating to national defense. If this were the language, it would need to be tested by the inquiry as to whether it had double meaning or forced anyone, at his peril, to speculate as to whether certain actions violated the statute.

In other words, the defendant had to intend for his conduct to benefit a foreign power for his actions to violate 793(f).

Without the requirement of intent, the phrase “relating to the national defense” would be unconstitutionally vague. This reading of the statute has guided federal prosecutors ever since, which is why Comey based his decision not to file charges on Clinton’s lack of intent. This is also why no one has ever been convicted of violating 793(f) on a gross negligence theory….”

John Ford is a former military prosecutor and a current reserve U.S. Army Judge Advocate. He now practices law in California.

          https://warontherocks.com/2016/07/why-intent-not-gross-negligence-is-the-standard-in-clinton-case/

            1. The point that you’re missing is that Comey was right that Clinton had no criminal intent to harm the national security by mishandling classified information.

              1. No Anon, the point is that Comey abused his office. Comey stepped over the line of investigator and prosecutor. Where was the Attorney General? We know where the attorney for the FBI was heading…prosecution. We know how desperate Clinton was not to provide her hard drives. She bleached them and then hammered them. Your statement is total bull not much different from everything else you have said.

    2. ” Accuse the other side of that which you are guilty ” J. Goebbels.

      1. False quote. More fake news.

what he said at the Nuremberg rally in 34 included this statement:

“The cleverest trick used in propaganda against Germany during the war was to accuse Germany of what our enemies themselves were doing.”

the opposite. but yes you leftists are really good at doing that.

        1. Matlock has all of Goebels’ quotes committed to memory and can rattle them off impromptu without breaking a sweat. Nice Matlock.

          1. it’s called the internet and you should learn to use it for something besides disseminating your falsehoods

also if you are really interested in goebbels, there is an archive of translations available here. of course some people just make stuff up and misquote him. they figure nobody will check maybe, because nobody is brave enough to admit they read him. well hello pleased to meet you, I read goebbels and hitler and stalin and mao too. all in translation of course.

            https://research.calvin.edu/german-propaganda-archive/goebmain.htm

I am not above trying to quote bad guys correctly. i would hope i can quote all people correctly. but that’s just me.

      2. That is exactly what you are doing Fishwings. Everything I said above is based on fact and even recordings. You have no facts and that is why you stand by Goebbels and “Accuse the other side of that which you are guilty”.

        1. FishWings was not replying to you. You obdurate blob of a typing carbuncle, you.

          1. “FishWings was not replying to you. You obdurate blob of a typing carbuncle, you.”

Though I don’t know for sure Diane, that you are correct, why would I care? Does anyone really care what you think? The assessment of your mental capacities makes you very insignificant.

            1. “Does anyone really care what you think? The assessment of your mental capacities makes you very insignificant.”

Allan is talking to himself again. Idiota.

              1. ““Does anyone really care what you think? The assessment of your mental capacities makes you very insignificant.”

Diane, I know you live in a state of confusiont. That statement above was written by me and diected towards you. Hopefully you will get it and I won’t have to explain it again.

              2. The Original Anonymous said, “Allan is talking to himself again. Idiota.”

True. And, thanks to Mr. Smith, we are sisters in name, now, too. Ha-ha! Thank you, Mr. Smith.

                1. : ) Good to know. Thanks.

(The “Smith” factor is troubling and unfortunate.)

                    1. I’m Elaine, now. Try to keep up. Stay fluid. You obdurate blob, you.

                    2. “I’m Elaine, now. Try to keep up. Stay fluid. You obdurate blob, you.”

Dementia and mental illness are strange, Diane. It doesn’t matter to the observer which one of your crazy personalies you are using at the moment. What matters is whether or not you took your meds. Apparently you haven’t.

      3. “We learned the consequences of our neglect all too clearly during the World War. While the enemy states produced unprecedented atrocity propaganda aimed at Germany throughout the whole world, we did nothing and were completely defenseless against it. Only when enemy foreign propaganda had nearly won over the greater part even of the neutral states did the German government begin to sense the enormous power of propaganda. It was too late. Just as we were militarily and economically unprepared for the war, so also with propaganda. We lost the war in this area more than in any other. The cleverest trick used in propaganda against Germany during the war was to accuse Germany of what our enemies themselves were doing.”

and in fact Goebbels had a point.

        https://www.history.com/news/world-war-1-propaganda-woodrow-wilson-fake-news

        1. unprecedented atrocity propaganda ?????

accuse Germany of what our enemies themselves were doing?????

You had damned well better not be a Holocaust denier. You had damned well better back up the implied notion that The U.S. committed atrocities on the scale of The Holocaust during World War Two–not during the 19th Century nor any other time before the !9th Century.

          1. the war he referred to was world war one. he was dead after world war two.

in point of fact, the Allies did circulate false atrocity stories about the Germans in World War one. specfically, the stories about “Huns” “bashing babies heads against walls in Belgium.” that was utterly false, fake, propaganda. you can look it up.

The US has a history of circulating stories to prepare the population for war. I am not the only person who has noticed this. A lot of peace activists have noticed this.

Here is where I may differ., Pretty much all great powers do the same. So the US is not any worse than any other great power. So, I don’t get really exercised over it. probably you do.

            1. You know, what’s funny is that all the lefties here must be younger than the Vietnam generation, because at least then pinkos knew that the US was not exactly the choir-boy it had pretended to be up until that point.

Today, the dogmatic Democrat activist appears from this bunch at least, to adore and follow the diktat of the “intelligence community” like they are the a bunch of scientists revealing the objective truth through sound methodology and careful experimentation. Glad you’re so trusting! Sleep soundly thinking they are here to protect you from the Evil Orange Man, Bad!

              1. Ah-ha! That’s different. You’re not denying the holocaust. You’re just rationalizing it as something that “all great powers do.”

          2. I didn’t say anything about committing atrocities. Nor imply any such thing. I said something about world war one, and something about propaganda, and something about quoting figures accurately.

Now as to your strident tone, “damn” this and that.

Dear Ms: I ignore your orders. You are not an authority. I will comment on any relevant topic as it pleases me, and as I am allowed by the host. You do not dictate my subject material nor may you presume to censor me.

You can have an opinion about my opinions and I welcome you to express it freely. Including in a shrill and annoying way, as is your habit. Cheers

  12. “there are questions nepotism and favoritism raised by the action”. I guess you mean like this report I found? I bet a dollar to a doughnut all these investigators are guilty in some shape or form.

Rep. Alcee Hastings, (D-FL) paid his girlfriend $622,574.

Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-CA) paid his wife $512,293.

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) paid her daughter and grandson a combined $495,650.

Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) paid six different relatives a combined $304,599.

Rep. Buck McKeon (R-CA) paid his wife $238,438.

    1. None of the above received undeserved security clearance! Nice try at whataboutism!

      1. Not a nice try but fact. No doubt you’re still waiting for Mueller to name Ivanka as a Red Sparrow.

          1. I’m a proud American, you are probably Canadian, right Rainman.

            1. For those who wonder what the blazes people are talking about:

              https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Sparrow

Red Sparrow is a 2018 American spy thriller film directed by Francis Lawrence and written by …. Lawrence explained: “The insecurity and fear of being judged for getting nude, what I went through, should that dictate decisions I make for the rest …

    2. The great Democrat Major of Chicago Richard J Daley said:

“If I can’t help my sons, then (the critics) can kiss my a$$.

I make no apologies to anyone.

There are many men in this room whose fathers helped them, and they went on to become fine public officials.

If a man can’t put his arms around his sons, and give them a hand, then what kind of world are we living in?”

      1. OK, the next Democratic Potus who puts their children in places of power so they can make money, that’s ok with you right? They get stock info, where and when infrastructure will be taking place. Stocks in other countries, OK with you right?

        1. her name is chelsea. i have no problem with nepotism., i used to live in chicago.

but they have to do the job properly once they get it.
nepotism is a way of life in America, but so is doing the job once you land it.

I have seen those who got plum positions fail. here, nepotism can get you a job, but generally it won’t protect you if you can’t get it done once you’re in place.

        2. focus instead on how the largest dictatorship of the proleteriat in the world, in China, the Communists are the new billionaires.

now maybe part of that is because they have picked the top people to be in the party over the years. it’s something of a social elite. so of course now they have a lot of money. but how much came from nepotism? of course we can’t know because for all the many thousands of corruption cases Xi Jinpeng has brought, we also know, no case in the Chinese courts can go against what the CPC dictates. Control the party and you control, everything.

That’s what the radical Marxists brought to China, built on a mountain of skeletons from the civil war, world war two, and the great famine.

and today the Democrats kiss their butts and are pointing the finger at Russia all the time.

I think they just want to be LIKE the PRC Chicoms. Insanely rich and in absolute power behind a smokescreen of Marxist rhetoric.

Not too long ago they were caught giving money to the Clintons
          https://www.nationalreview.com/2017/07/chinese-illegally-donated-bill-clinton-reelection-campaign-media-downplayed/

where are these same tricksters today?

I have a clue. I wonder how many briefcases full of Chicom money could have been given to AOC from their proxies firmly ensconced behind various sorts of fronts operating in Queens. They’re grooming her. I say it’s possible. if not likely.

    1. The report is the most detailed portrait to date of how senior White House figures — including Michael T. Flynn, President Trump’s first national security adviser — worked with retired military officers to circumvent the normal policymaking process to promote an export plan that experts worried could spread nuclear weapons technology in the volatile Middle East.

      1. The hijackers in the September 11 attacks were 19 men affiliated with al-Qaeda. 15 of the 19 were citizens of Saudi Arabia, and the others were from the United Arab Emirates (2), Egypt, and Lebanon.

        1. The export of American nuclear technology that could be used to create nuclear weapons is strictly controlled under the Atomic Energy Act of 1954. The act says that Congress must approve such exports, and at least one of the whistle-blowers that went to the Democrats claimed that officials involved ignored warnings about such legal requirements.

          1. The IP3 project was the second nuclear power plan that Mr. Flynn had worked on, according to people involved in the projects. During 2015 and 2016, after he retired from the military, Mr. Flynn had consulted with and traveled to the Middle East on behalf of ACU Strategic Partners, which was pursuing an ambitious plan that envisioned Russia taking spent nuclear fuel to avoid the danger of nuclear proliferation.

Some of the retired generals who advised the ACU Strategic Partners effort subsequently broke off and created IP3, which for a time argued for replacing Russia with China in the nuclear power plan.

              1. The report also catalogs the actions of Mr Harvey, the Flynn confidant who was put in charge of the NSC’s Middle East and North African affairs.

According to the report, upon entering the White House in January 2017, Mr Harvey saw his mission as getting Mr Trump to adopt the nuclear proposal despite the objections of ethics and national security officials.

Even when HR McMaster, who replaced Flynn as national security adviser, and NSC lawyer John Eisenberg directed that work stop on the proposal because of concerns about its legality, Mr Harvey continued pursuing the proposal, according to the report.

Mr Harvey was fired from the NSC in July 2017. He then joined the staff of Republican congressman Devin Nunes of California, a Trump ally and the former Republican chairman of the House intelligence committee.

                1. A week after Inauguration Day, the Democrats’ report said, a Flynn deputy for Middle East and North African affairs, Derek Harvey, met with the IP3’s co-founders at the White House, and asked National Security Council staff to include information about the nuclear power plan in a briefing to prepare Mr. Trump for a call with King Salman of Saudi Arabia.

                  1. The speed with which Mr. Harvey acted, and his circumvention of the normal scrutiny by experts across the government — like officials in the Energy and State Departments — prompted at least some National Security Council officials to raise concerns with Mr. Harvey, the report said. Eventually, ethics lawyers also raised concerns.

      2. “worked with retired military officers to circumvent the normal policymaking process to promote an export plan that experts worried could spread nuclear weapons technology in the volatile Middle East.”
This is the problem in DC. They’re always running around doing useless busywork, wasting money and making things too complicated when already tried and true methods such as shipping pallets of cash to purchase weapons and technology from rogue nations are a available.

  13. I am so bored by the continuing coverage of DJT’s criminality and abuses of power. I am forced to watch the “All Nazi War Atrocities All The Time” channel. So few things seem to shock me anymore. YAWN.

    1. Elohim, today Trump Tweeted a bunch of boilerplate about Democrats trying to “rig” the 2020 election against him by means of exercising the subpoena power.

      I’m not saying that it’s a Reichstag fire. (I’m just saying . . .)

        1. In his own words from the article above:

“The Democrats in Congress yesterday were vicious and totally showed their cards for everyone to see,” Trump tweeted Tuesday, referring to House Democrats’ launching of a broad-scale investigation into him. “When the Republicans had the Majority they never acted with such hatred and scorn! The Dems are trying to win an election in 2020 that they know they cannot legitimately win!”

        2. In his minion’s words from the article above:

Trump 2020 campaign press secretary Kayleigh McEnany echoed that sentiment in a statement on the Democratic investigations. “These desperate Democrats know they cannot beat President Trump in 2020, so instead they have embarked on a disgraceful witch hunt with one singular aim: topple the will of the American people and seize the power that they have zero chance at winning legitimately,” she said.

        3. In his other minion’s words from the article above:

And asked Wednesday about the Democratic investigations, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said this: “They continue to be a group totally taken by small radical leftist fringe of their party and they’re completely controlled by it, they know that’s not enough to beat this President so they’re going to look for other ways to do that.”

        4. In his former minion’s words:

Michael Cohen, Trump’s former longtime fixer, said as much during his congressional testimony in front of the House Oversight Committee last month. “Given my experience working for Mr. Trump, I fear that if he loses the election in 2020, that there will never be a peaceful transition of power,” said Cohen.

  14. The President controls the Executive Branch and can determine the classified status of documents and the level of security clearance. Exercise of his constitutional prerogatives isn’t unconstitutional by definition. It certainly isn’t illegal, improper or even newsworthy. Lest you think nepotism is taboo, recall JFK made RFK his attorney general and the liberal establishment cheered. DC is rife with moms and dads giving their kids jobs and internships to propagate the deep state. Yawn.

    1. What exactly does Ivanka do that requires such special treatment? She needs to resign!

    2. And RFK did a good job, although, there was plenty to criticize. You are right this one’s a yawner, big time

We’re actually very lucky to have Ivanka. She’s incredibly hot, for starters, and has fantastic poise and manners.
She represents us all very well as an important figurehead.

What dad would not want an awesome daughter like that?

      Iffy on Jared, that’s all

  15. “ CNN is reporting that…”
    “Elijah Cummmings has demanded…”

Fake news. Americans dont believe them. Their “outrage” is made null by their hypocrisy and double standards.
They are truly neutered in the public square. Nobody cares what they say anymore by their own doing

  16. Thanks again repugs for putting this family of grifters into the White House! Remember IOKIYR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          1. Another “Anonymous ” isn’t throwing dirt. Rather, he or she is just telling it like it is.

      1. mespo

The Trumpsters are just a run-of-the-mill RICO – as we’re learning.

      2. FTR, by all accounts, Roger Clinton and Virginia Dell Cassidy were trashy people – in her case amusing, in his appalling. However, they were very much a part of the local bourgeoisie. She was a skilled employee (nurse-anaesthetist) and he and his brothers owned a clutch of local businesses (car dealership, auto parts store etc). The Clintons didn’t live on a farm, much less up in the hills a la the families in Lolly Madonna. One of the homes they lived in in Hot Springs can be seen from this page.

        Not hillbilly digs at all.

    1. According to the new Forbes list, since taking office Donald Trump’s net worth has dropped from $4.5 billion to $3.1 billion – while crazed Democrats claim he has profited from the Presidency.

      1. Have you ever done your taxes and noticed that while there might be capital losses in one column, there are gains in another? It is neither complicated or hard to understand.

        1. Acromium what does what you said have anything to do with the Forbe’s ranking. Supposedly they do the ranking the same way every year so one might expect a bit of consistency and not a reliance on whatever you are talking about. The economy is good so they should have seen higher numbers. Therefore I would guess Trump has taken a loss.

      2. I thought he said he was worth 10 billion. Of course he told the IRS he had nothing, but when it came to getting a loan he said he had more money.

      3. And, if you paid attention to Michael Cohen’s testimony, you know that Donald created 2 sets of books: one for Forbes, with greatly inflated numbers that misrepresented his net worth, and a second set of books for the IRS. If he’s so damned wealthy, why did he cheat those craftsmen and small business people who did all of that custom work for the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, many of whom were forced to go out of business? He could still pay them off if he had anything resembling a conscience. If you watched the A & E Biography on him, you saw that he started “The Apprentice” because he was flat broke. He traded on the fake persona of being very wealthy, powerful and successful. He has bragged that no one knows as much about how to leverage the bankruptcy system to their advantage as he does, which is why no U.S. banks will loan him any money. He is mostly narcissistic and mendacious.

If he were really as wealthy as he’d like people to believe, he’d be proud to show his tax returns and business records. He desperately wants to hide these records not only because they show he’s not really the self-made billionaire he claims to be, but also because they prove he’s not a smart businessman. How much debt does he have? To whom is he beholden? How many failures does it take to prove he’s not very successful? Let’s see: there’s Trump University, Trump Steaks, Trump clothing and accessories, Trump casinos and multiple bankruptcies.

On the point of profiting from the Presidency, he refused to divest himself from ownership in the Trump Hotel, and now companies, and especially foreign companies, are flocking there and booking conference rooms, hotel rooms, catering, etc.. Yesterday’s news cycle disclosed that executives of T-Mobile spent about $200K at the Trump D.C. Hotel while their request to approve their controversial merger with Sprint is pending. This stinks to high heaven. One can only wonder how much hell Republicans would raise of Barak Obama even came close to this sort of scandal.

        1. Money, money, money, money, money [6x]
Some people got to have it
          Some people really need it
