Trump: Accusers Have Done “Evil” and “Treasonous Things”

It would seem that being cleared of collusion and obstruction allegations might be an opportune moment for Donald Trump to take the high road and declare an intent to move the country past the divisive politics of the last two years. Instead, Trump declared that those people who accused him were responsible for “treasonous things” and said they “will certainly be looked at.” Since I was one of those people who denounced others for alleging treason against Trump, it is disconcerting to now hear Trump himself using the same irresponsible rhetoric. Those peddling unsupported theories of criminality over the last two years were also irresponsible and reckless, but their voicing such views was not treasonous. Trump added that his critics were “evil”

Trump did not specify who he was referring to or who would be investigating his critics for treason. He simply said “There are a lot of people out there that have done some very, very evil things, very bad things. I would say treasonous things against our country. I’ve been looking at them for a long time.”

It is baffling why Trump tends to step on his own good media. Rather than basking in the findings of the Special Counsel, Trump immediately cut short the discussion with a new sensational and disturbing comment.

As with calling the media “the enemy of people,” the labeling of his critics and accusers as traitors is the signature of authoritarian countries. It was wrong for Trump’s critics and it is wrong for Trump.

  1. This should be required reading for everyone. 10 prominent stories in the mainstream media they were forced to detract. Some reporters even got fired for wrongdoing.

The list is not an opinion. Not s conspiracy theory. 10 instances where the source retracted. One journalist remarked they need to take a hard look at passing on what others reported.

I didn’t even know some of these had been debunked. This takes care of most of the arguments on this thread still claiming Trump works for Russians. The retractions were by CNN, MSNBC, et al.

Please read and become better informed.

    1. Glenn Greenwald. A leftist but the Hillarite middle left hates his guts. He’s sharp!
Helped Snowden. Helped us all know whats been done to spy on us by our spies.

    2. Karen – I perused this list and got to a few I knew of at the end (never heard of any of the top ten, which probably means the corrections worked and the stories were not very big.

If somebody made a list with pictures of all my mistakes for 2 years you might think I can’t build anything – that would be wrong as I build high end houses for particular clients,

Of those I knew about in this article, the intercept is full of it.

      For example the Intercept says:

“The U.S. media and Democrats spent six months claiming that all “17 intelligence agencies” agreed Russia was behind the hacks; the NYT finally retracted that in June, 2017: “The assessment was made by four intelligence agencies — the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Central Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Security Agency. The assessment was not approved by all 17 organizations in the American intelligence community.”

Yeah, but the Office of the Director of National Intelligence is the organization of all our intelligence agencies, so this is semantics, not a lie or mistake:

“The Director of National Intelligence (DNI) is the United States government Cabinet-level official—subject to the authority, direction, and control of the President of the United States—required by the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 to:

      – serve as head of the sixteen-member United States Intelligence Community,
      – direct and oversee the National Intelligence Program; and
      – serve as an advisor, upon invitation, to the President and his executive offices of the National Security Council and the Homeland Security Council about intelligence matters related to national security….”

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Director_of_National_Intelligence

Another mountain out of a molehill:

“AP claimed on February 2, 2018, that the Free Beacon commissioned the Steele Dossier; they thereafter acknowledged that was false and noted, instead: “Though the former spy, Christopher Steele, was hired by a firm that was initially funded by the Washington Free Beacon, he did not begin work on the project until after Democratic groups had begun funding it.””

I’m Joe Blow who reads the newspaper every morning and I knew that and again this is semantics.

      Greenwald’s a tool.

      1. Anon – many on the Left believe that Trump is truly evil because of stories like this. They are not aware that one after another get disproven. As mentioned previously, it is physically dangerous to wear any pro-Trump articles of clothing in a way that it never was for Obama, Hillary, Bernie, AOC, or even various mass murdering Socialist or Communist dictators. (The latter, by the way, is like casually parading around in a Hitler shirt. It is amazing the lack of knowledge of the wearers. Still, they do so confident in their own safety, and the worse they get is an eye roll.)

It pervades every little aspect of reporting. For instance, the incessant carping on Russia made so many believe to the core of their soul that Trump was a Russian spy. It also conditioned them to completely ignore that Hillary did exactly the behavior that they accuse Trump of doing. It just seems to glide right out of their consciousness like fear does in Frank Herbert’s Dune Kwisatz Haderach main character. They don’t even turn to look at it as it passes.

Take, for example, the story about how Trump rudely dumped his dish of koi food into the pond, embarrassing the entire country in front of the Japanese Prime Minister. Actually, the entire video showed him companionably spooning in food alongside the PM. The PM then turned his dish over and dumped out the crumbs, and Trump emulated him. By only showing Trump’s actions, editing out the rest, the message completely changed. In this subtle way, the Left has been subtly nudged to believe one evil accusation after another, never realizing that they are disproven.

Trump is not the anti-Christ. He’s just a guy who gets down in the mud on Twitter with the same bitter feuds that the Left has been engaging in with conservatives since the advent of the internet. He has a history of adultery and is twice divorced. He needs to realize how incredibly lucky he is to have a loyal wife, and hold on to her with both hands and all his loyalty.

That’s about it. Sometimes he’s right. Sometimes he’s wrong. The Left’s unwarranted and vicious attacks make it hard for everyone to just consider whether any particular action is right or wrong in any fair or impartial way. We conservatives are dealing with completely irrational anti-Trump hysteria that comes across as unhinged. That makes it difficult for us to deal with real issues, and times when Trump does get it wrong. We’re too busy arguing that no, he’s not a Nazi, no he’s not racist, no he’s not an anti-Semite, no he’s not a Russian spy, no he doesn’t have a mental illness…It gets so that it’s difficult to be able to discuss where we do disagree with something he’s done.

As for intelligence, the FBI’s job is supposed to investigate for the DOJ. That’s it. It’s not supposed to pass judgment on prosecution, either. Just gather data.

        1. Your alarming tales, while probably accepted as gospel by the Pravda Faux News unknowing, are not supported by facts here in the real world. Yet again, you display how the day glo bozo was able to swindle an election. So sorry for your condition, and your loss. Pro tip: every yes-man grifter in the day glo bozo’s coterie thinks your an imbecile, too.

this is to “but someone said it was on the internet, so it’s gotta be true, right?” karen

    1. That’s funny!

Bruno Ganz just died about 2 weeks ago. Wings of desire is a great movie, with Peter Falk also.

        1. Yes, Downfall. Wings of desire was earlier in his career and in black and white. A US copy of sorts – I didn’t see it – was made with Meg Ryan about 15 years ago, maybe a little more.

    2. I love all of these, especially the Last Jedi version. Anything that makes Hitler look this bad is wonderful in my book.

      1. Right…but supporting policies that differ little from those of Hitler are just “peachy-keen” in your book. Pro tip: sell that crap somewhere else; in for a penny, in for a pound. Own it, the National Socialist Women’s League would be proud of your support.

this is to “but they’re not white children that we’re putting in cages, are they” karen

  2. At this point I wonder why Turley writes this stuff at all. Many of his writings are salient and informative, others, such as this, not so much. There is absolutely nothing in this post worth reading, much less remembering. I think the Prof has fallen victim, as have so many others, of the sales value of virtually any Trump comment. Such a shame. Some drivel is best left unwritten.

    1. Unwritten by
      Natasha Bedingfield

      I am unwritten
      Can’t read my mind
      I’m undefined
      I’m just beginning
      The pen’s in my hand
      Ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
      Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
      Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
      Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
      The rest is still unwritten…

  3. Such a sick man. And his condition, is just being ignored…
Republicans have a lot to answer for.

  4. Haha, as though pointing out Evil of the Left is bad, on in Leftist wasteland.
