Poll: Seventy Percent Of Russians Approve of Stalin

The Russian proclivity toward strongman leaders is well documented. However, a recent poll shows that this historical preference not only continues but has led many to long for one of the most blood-soaked and homicidal figures in history: Josef Stalin. A shocking 70 recent of polled Russians now view the man who killed millions as an “outstanding leader.”

Staln has been regaining popularity and this poll shows a historic high for the dictator. His popularity level was at 54 percent ion 2016. Only 19 percent hold a disfavorable view of a man who regularly murdered rivals, entered into a pact with Hitler, destroyed the Soviet military and economy, and shipped off millions to die in camps and relocation areas. Fifty one percent of people even respect Stalin as a person despite being a person who regularly flew into lethal drunken rages and once said “A single death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic.”

From the Katyn Massacre to the shooting of intellectuals to the massive prison camps, Stalin remains one of the most vile figures of history. What is astonishing is that his brutal reign cost millions of lives unnecessarily. Thus, he entered a secret pact with Hitler to conquer parts of Europe only to be betrayed by his fellow dictator. He gutted the Russian military of experienced officers shortly before the Germans invaded. His “five year plans” were moronic efforts that led to widespread starvation. He was in other words more only a maniac but a moron.

Vladimir Putin himself appears partially responsible as he fights to bring back Soviet images — as well as a Soviet appetite for expansion.

What is even more distressing is that earlier polls show that over half of polled young people were entirely unaware of Stalin’s alleged crimes.

  1. The dead don’t get to respond to polls. The young don’t get to learn when there isn’t freedom. A warning to those that want to erase our own history for political correctness.

Somewhere in this thread, there was mention of L4B/Diane and her cats…something like if she wants to talk about her cats, let her.
I have never seen her mention her cats, but to her credit, she spends much of her time grooming and feeding them.
( When she’s done with her shift here)

  3. Stalin’s legacy is killing millions more people of Faith than Hitler, though few care to give him the credit

Today is a dangerous world for people of Faith

    A Massacre of Christians

Terror bombings kill hundreds on Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka.

    The Editorial Board
    April 21, 2019 3:45 p.m. ET

The Easter Sunday slaughter of Christians in Sri Lanka is a jolting reminder that killers motivated by religious animus continue to be a threat to innocents around the world. Large-scale terror attacks outside the Middle East have been fewer in recent months, but that is due more to the West’s efforts at pre-emption than to any lack of murderous intent.

The explosions hit three churches and hotels known for foreign visitors in or near the capital of Colombo. At this writing at least 207 had been killed and several hundred injured. At least 27 foreigners were among the dead, including “several” Americans, according to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

World leaders are denouncing the attack on “humanity,” but make no mistake: This was an attack on Christians. The killers didn’t pick any random Sunday. The bombs went off at places of worship during services on the holiest day of the Christian calendar. The killers may have taken their bloody cues from the attack on Coptic Christians in Egypt on Palm Sunday in 2017. Police were on watch for a reason outside the church we attended this Easter Sunday morning in New York City, just as they’re often outside synagogues after a terrorist event.

Sri Lankan authorities have arrested several people in the attacks but hadn’t identified them by Sunday evening. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said information about a possible attack had been circulating but hadn’t reached the cabinet. Sri Lanka has a terrible history with terrorism from its civil war, but less so in recent years. Christians (7.4%) and Muslims (10%) are minorities in the majority Buddhist nation.

There is a natural tendency toward complacency in human affairs after a period without a major terror attack, until we get a reminder like Sunday’s in Sri Lanka of the costs of inattention. The threat will be with us for many decades and demands constant watch.

  4. Study history better, this article is one of examples that Europe want to put Nazism and Russian in one line.

  5. Full of lies he was a great man
That he killed millions of people, destroyed Soviet Army and Economy is totally absurd

  6. Because if you study true Stalin end his true achieves everybody will agree with him. He was greatest leader.
    Hi loved people.

Since his murdered with Hrushev ( not without the help of the hand capitalist of the West and America) created department which wrote thousands fake articles an hundreds and a thousands books. A falsification is still going on.

  7. I mentioned that I didn’t think even Hollywood Hill was foolish and chicken**** enough to challenge a statement of historical fact.
    He proved me wrong.

  8. “And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

    Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn

    The Gulag Archipelago

Too many Americans don’t “love freedom enough.” Where we’re headed is anyone’s guess.

  9. WHEN THEY SAY ‘HOLLYWOOD’

ASK ‘WHO’ THEY’RE REALLY TALKING ABOUT

The number of jobs connected to big media companies numbers in tens of thousands. TV Networks and Movie Studios alone are two different sectors. Yet the production of commercials account for thousands jobs. Video Games and Music Videos are also big employers. No Boss of Bosses is giving all the orders. No elite cabal decides what the public sees.

We might also look at Hollywood back in 1953 the year Stalin died. The year Hollywood was supposed to account for Stalin’s crimes (according to conservative commenters). 1953 was actually a challenging period for Hollywood movie studios. New rival television was threatening Hollywood’s old power structure.

The powers of Hollywood in 1953 included holdovers from the silent era. Veterans from that period didn’t know what to make of television. Television back then was mainly in New York. Old vaudeville theaters of Midtown served as stages for TV shows. TV production gradually transitioned to L.A. during the 50’s and 60’s.

Movie Studios of the early 1950’s were still grappling with the losses of their movie theater chains. Said divorce was the result of an anti-trust ruling in 1948. Revenues from movie theaters had been a pillar of studio business models.

With all these changes movie studios scarcely had the luxury of holding official inquiries to purge communist elements. Yet industry trade groups decided to police the business with newsletters naming Communists. For most of the 1950’s talent accused of communist sympathies were under-employed.

So if one wants to ask why Hollywood tolerated Stalin. Or failed to denounce his crimes. Extensive documentation exists shows communist sympathizers were locked out of the industry for much of the 1950’s.

So where does the case exist that Hollywood tolerated Stalin? It’s an urban myth of the Trump era not unlike the ‘Democratic Plantation’.

    1. It is true that many of the Stalinists and Communists “were locked out of the industry for much of the 1950s.
It is also true that some were truly victims of an excessive zeal to root out the Stalinists and Communists in Hollywood.
And also true that the Stalinist and Communists who were bounced are bogusly and reflexively viewed as “victims”
I think Dalton Trumbo, one of the best- known blacklisted screenwriter, was blacklisted and imprisomed by 1949 or 1950.
Now we’re presented with the 1950s, and the year 1953 was used in a phony manner by listing the top ten film stars.
The major stars one sees on the screen are not the only ones involved in the motion picture industry.
Most people understand that there’s more to that industry than the actors on the screen and a few cameramen.
A film can easily have hundreds of people involved the making of the film.
So a list of the top ten stars of 1953 is a pretty weak argument against the fact that there were clusters of Stalinists and Communists in Hollywood.
Also, given that many of those were “locked out” for much of the 1950s, it’s fairly obvious ( or should be) that after the blacklist, there were far fewer Communists in the industry.
So citing Hollywood post-blacklist does not erase the earlier presence of people like Dalton Dumbo, who was largely exiled by the 1950s.
His supposed “martyrdom” and “victimization” was promoted by some major left-wing Hollywood figures, and by the early 1960s it was “safe enough” for some of those on the industry to welcome Trumbo back and to sanitized and “Hollywoodize” what that slimeball was really like.

      1. Tom have you noticed how Peter makes wild statements and when asked to clarify he runs away. Here is a recent example. I am waiting for an answer from Peter, but apparently he is too busy complaining that Estovir is trying to help educate him.

Peter writes: “over the many abuses of Senator Joseph McCarthy. In fact, “Front Page” suggests that McCarthy was a patriotic hero of some kind. ..What a joke..!”

I don’t think anyone here thinks Senator McCarthy was the nicest man around. But do you know what he did and what he said?

I don’t think so. Tell me specifically what significant things did Senator McCarthy do that were so terrible?

        1. Estovir and TIA3 have stated Peter Hill is a paid troll by Correct the Record, a left wing troll farm funded by George Soros. It seems plausible considering all Peter does is lob bombs and runs away.

It is best to ignore trolls and not feed their sadistic tendencies.
JT runs a formidable blog and we do well to engage in scholarly discourse of which the trolls add nothing but gain pleasure when they are acknowledged

          1. It wouldn’t surprise me to discover Jan / Anon and Diane / Lies4Breakfast are collecting fees. Otherwise, just talkin’ smack.

            1. If absurd could actually win an argument on facts it wouldn’t matter if he was being paid or not. Thanks for the compliment, but I kick your a.. for free.

            2. This is absurd x 3 says: April 21, 2019 at 7:49 PM

“It wouldn’t surprise me to discover Jan / Anon and Diane / Lies4Breakfast are collecting fees. Otherwise, just talkin’ smack.”

So you really are a whiny little school girl. Aren’t you? The whole lot of you snippy little queen-bee trash-talkers whispering about other people behind their backs are actually whiny little school girls.

              Just. Like. Trump.

              1. In spite of L4 B’s valient efforts, he’s still twice the man that you or anyone else in your coven will ever hope to be!

      2. Tom, that Hollywood Top 10 from 1953 is perfectly relevant. It provides a snapshot for ‘what’ and ‘who’ was big that year.

Your outrage on this topic seems to imply conspiracies and cover-ups. It also implies that someone needs to apologize. That’s a Fox News thing. The most common Fox News story involves liberals getting ‘busted’ for something ‘incorrect’. So they’re supposed to apologize.

I don’t know ‘who’ you expect an apology from. It’s just this broad intangible grievance against long-dead Hollywood moguls. Hollywood moguls who were more than likely hostile to labor unions. Labor unions in Hollywood struggled to organize all through the 1940’s. Those struggles reinforced the radical views of so-called communist sympathizers.

As you noted, many different talents are involved in movie and TV productions. Those talents could be a mix of liberals and conservatives. And that was probably more likely back in the 1950’s.

While ‘communist sympathizer’ Carl Foreman wrote the screenplay to “High Noon”, that movie starred Gary Cooper, a political conservative and friend of John Wayne’s. Wayne, however, hated “High Noon”. He didn’t like that a woman helped win the fight! “High Noon” was directed by Fred Zinnemann, an Austrian-born Jew whose parents died in the Holocaust.

So how does one separate a ‘communist’ screenwriter from all the talents that worked on a great movie? ..You can’t..! That explains why Hollywood can’t disown a period decades ago. You can’t separate the talents that went into various projects.

        1. If some is too stupid to figure out that Dalton Trumbo and others were Stalinist Communist, then there’s not a hell of lot I can do to “separate” them into the category of Stalinist Communists.
To take Peter’s ” logic’ a bit further, there were no Nazis in power in Germany after 1945.
All that “little stuff” that happened before 1945 is nearly 75
YEARS AGO. Ancient history , why make a big deal out of it now.
Hollywood is very often at odds with actual historical facts. Peter is in a very good area for those wanting to “Hollywoodize history’.
No matter how many times, or how many ways the history of the Communist element is presented to him, Hollywood Hill will “respond” with the same kind of bogus “it was years ago”, or “look at the top movie stars of 1953”.
There’s something that’s both pathetic and entertaining to see a not-so- bright guy like Peter keep doubling down on a losing argument.
I guess that’s what passes for “, intellectual” in Tinseltown.

          1. I was wondering how long it would take Hollywood Hill to pull out “the big guns” and mention Fox News.
He held out a little longer than I anticipated before using the devastating “Fox News” argument, as effective as ever even after being recycled and re-used at least a thousand in these threads.
And almost always used by those in the Natacha/ Anonymous/ Peter Hill camp.

            1. Tom, there is no way to separate Trump from Fox New or Fox News from Trump. The two are joined at the hip. So of course Fox comes up frequently. It’s the elephant in the living room!

And again I must note your grievance is vague. It isn’t clear what you expect from Hollywood regarding communist sympathizers decades ago.

Like Hollywood is supposed to produce a 3 hour documentary admitting that communists agitated for loose morals and disrespect for God..?? I

I don’t think you even know what you’re demanding. You’re just an outraged conservative who wants to scream at liberals.

              1. Maybe I should be a bit more patient with a fool like Hollywood Hill.
But I’ve wasted enough time on that clown.
What started out as a simple statement of fact by me gets a series of idiotic responses from a someone with his very own set of facts and Brocked-fed propaganda.
Hope he enjoys blowing all of his opponents away with the awesome “Fox News” Gambit.

                1. I would add that I not “screaming at liberals”.
                  I’m shaking my head in
disbelief how the level of stupidy and ignorance that Hollywood Hill repeatedly demonstrates here.
He is truely an amazing p.o.s.

                2. Tom, Peter doesn’t have the slightest idea what he is talking about. Of course there is a closer relationship with Fox News to the President. The mainstream news lies. They aren’t even permitting Fox News to partake in the Democratic debates. Fox News provides a pleasant platform for Democrats to present their ideas but the left doesn’t reciprocate. I watched Chris Wallace on Fox and he gave a hard time to Guiliani and was much more restrained with Adam Schiff. I don’t complain. Adam Schiff needed all the help he could get while Guiliani and Wallace could each hold their own.

Peter should take me up on recording Fox and one of the other channels so we can discuss them after the shows and have a record of what was actually said. He can’t do that because the deck is stacked against him because Fox is superior in most ways. Fox is straight forward and speaprates opinion from the actual news. The mainstream media doesn’t. I saw Sekulow on MSNBC and watched ignorance exude from Brian Williams. Yet, Peter complains about Fox News and that shows he doesn’t know much of anything.

                  1. I don’t have cable and I don’t get my news from cable. Cable news is worthless.

                    1. You get your news from the Washington Post which is one step below cable so don’t let your head swell too much. The Washington Post is nothing more than a spin doctor.

Maybe you are sent your news in text directly from David Brock. That would make sense based on your postings. He could even provide the specific articles from the WP that you could use in a blog and he could provide the phony headlines as well. I’ll bet the capitalization was your idea.
