Former Trump campaign chair, Paul Manafort, has joined former Trump personal attorney Michael Cohen in a second ignoble distinction. Both are now in prison for felonies. As for today, Manafort is also a disbarred lawyer. While Cohen was belatedly disbarred in New York, Manafort was disbarred in Washington, D.C. That certainly does not speak well for the President’s pledge to bring in the very best people. From the outset, both Cohen and Manafort had dreadful reputations in their respective bars. Cohen was known as a legal thug while Manafort was viewed as a sleazy and reckless lawyer.
D.C. Court of Appeals on Thursday disbarred Manafort due to his convictions for obstruction of justice and conspiracy. Manafort had been a member of the bar since 1979.
Manafort worked for some of the most blood-soaked and corrupt figures in Europe, particularly The Ukraine. His excessive lifestyle made him more and more reckless in seeking to maintain the flow of millions of dollars into his account.
He has become so radioactive that not only did the Bar get rid of him but his filmmaker daughter, Jess Bond, dropped the use of Manafort as a last name.
One difference with Cohen is that Manafort could still receive a pardon from Trump who has praised him for his standing firm against Mueller. While Manafort cooperated, Mueller later said that he was not fulfilling his agreement and sought a higher sentence. Like Cohen, however, Manafort was sentenced for criminal acts unrelated to Trump. While Cohen had the campaign finance charge, Manafort was entirely unrelated to either the campaign or the Trumps in his criminal conduct. That could raise questions over the purpose of the pardon when Manafort was punished for crimes preceding his work on the campaign.

One of the issues I think should concern most people with an IQ higher then room temperature is the complete break down individuals/business people to have secure private conversation experts, so called professionals, ie: Doctors/Lawyers/CPAs, etc…
What I’ve seen of deep concern is that Cohen & Mueller have all but destroyed what was attorney/client privilege that most us, when we are using a lawyer believed those conversations were sacrosanct!!!
That seems to be the difference between Cohen & Manafort, Cohen couldn’t keep from tripping over his lips to Mueller trying to sell out Trump info to cover his non-related criminal behaviour.
Manafort, I don’t know the whole story, but at face value Mueller wasn’t able to get him to conspire to commit felonies & Compose falsehoods against Trump.
And that it was again, the so called “Professionals”, the CPAs, who had written & approved Manafort’s tax filings over a decade earlier, that the DOJ, aka Rod the Rat Rosenstien, earlier had refuse to prosecute Manafort over those filings, that the CPAs , confronted by Mueller did compose to cover up for their own past behaviour.
The main take away is no one in the US should fully trust Lawyers/Doctors/CPAs/Wallst/Banks/DOJ/FBI/ as it appears nothing is sacrosanct & we already were supposed to know not to trust the Govt but to Verify.

“FBI’s Steele story falls apart: False intel and media contacts were flagged before FISA”
“The FBI’s sworn story to a federal court about its asset, Christopher Steele, is fraying faster than a $5 souvenir T-shirt bought at a tourist trap.
Newly unearthed memos show a high-ranking government official who met with Steele in October 2016 determined some of the Donald Trump dirt that Steele was simultaneously digging up for the FBI and for Hillary Clinton’s campaign was inaccurate, and likely leaked to the media.
The concerns were flagged in a typed memo and in handwritten notes taken by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Kathleen Kavalec on Oct. 11, 2016.
Her observations were recorded exactly 10 days before the FBI used Steele and his infamous dossier to justify securing a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant to spy on Trump campaign adviser Carter Page and the campaign’s contacts with Russia in search of a now debunked collusion theory.
It is important to note that the FBI swore on Oct. 21, 2016, to the FISA judges that Steele’s “reporting has been corroborated and used in criminal proceedings” and the FBI has determined him to be “reliable” and was “unaware of any derogatory information pertaining” to their informant, who simultaneously worked for Fusion GPS, the firm paid by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Clinton campaign to find Russian dirt on Trump.
That’s a pretty remarkable declaration in Footnote 5 on Page 15 of the FISA application, since Kavalec apparently needed just a single encounter with Steele at State to find one of his key claims about Trump-Russia collusion was blatantly false.
In her typed summary, Kavalec wrote that Steele told her the Russians had constructed a “technical/human operation run out of Moscow targeting the election” that recruited emigres in the United States to “do hacking and recruiting.”
She quoted Steele as saying, “Payments to those recruited are made out of the Russian Consulate in Miami,” according to a copy of her summary memo obtained under open records litigation by the conservative group Citizens United. Kavalec bluntly debunked that assertion in a bracketed comment: “It is important to note that there is no Russian consulate in Miami.”
Kavalec, two days later and well before the FISA warrant was issued, forwarded her typed summary to other government officials. The State Department has redacted the names and agencies of everyone she alerted.
But it is almost certain the FBI knew of Steele’s contact with State and his partisan motive. That’s because former Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland says she instructed her staff to send the information they got from Steele to the bureau immediately and to cease contact with the informer because “this is about U.S. politics, and not the work of — not the business of the State Department, and certainly not the business of a career employee who is subject to the Hatch Act.”
Even if the FBI didn’t get Kavalec’s memo, it is just as implausible that the bureau couldn’t figure out, during the many hours that its agents spent with Steele, what Kavalec divined in a few short minutes: He was political, inaccurate, spinning wild theories and talking to the media.”

The US supreme court yesterday issued an order disbarring former president Bill Clinton from practising law before the high court……The court did not explain its reasons for the disbarment, although such a decision usually follows disbarment in a lower court. In April, Mr Clinton’s Arkansas law licence was suspended for five years and he was given a $25,000 fine. He had agreed to that disbarment as a form of plea bargain in January, on the day before he left office, after reaching a deal to bring an end to the Lewinsky investigation, in which he could have faced charges for contempt.

It’s fine that he is disbarred. That is ok.
However, here’s the context of why he came on board. Republican rivals were trying to steal the delegates. Trump needed an operator who could shore them up. Manafort knew what to do and he succeeded. Manafort delivered.
I am not so sure there were other better choices at the time. A lot of Republican politicos are hacks who were afraid of the internal powers that be. We can see how much better we are not that TRUMP and Co. have sidelined some of them and cut them down to size. Trump has elevated the grass roots people as a force in Republican decision making.
We can thank Manafort for that. But you know the old saying– no good deed goes unpunished.
Seems to me Prof Turley needs us to send him more bricks for his glass house for his words aimed at Manafort.

Not trying to use the “They all do it” defense, but I get the sense that there are an awful lot of sleazy people people in Washington.
In fact the town seems to be full of “leaders” and “advisors to leaders”, who wouldn’t get invited into our homes.
Trump wanted to win and it seems that Manafort did a good job for him. Could Trump have done better? Absolutely.
But Manafort operated in Washington for a long time with no trouble; he got nailed because he was in the blast zone of the attacks on Trump.
I suspect that Podesta would have suffered a similar fate if Hillary had been elected and her sleaze was finally investigated.
She has withstood the best thuglicans could offer; face it, she is better than what you have to offer.
