Pelosi: Trump Wants Us To Impeach Him

Before the midterm elections, I wrote about the dubious pitch to voters that, if given back the House, the Democrats could impeach President Donald Trump. The fact is that the Democratic leadership was never willing to impeach Trump and, once the House flipped, proceeded to place as many delays and barriers in the path of impeachment as possible. The challenge is to appear like you want to impeach without actually moving to impeach. The result is a strategy of planned obsolescence — to run out the clock on impeachment while convincing voters that they are actually eager to impeach. The problem is that voters still believe the rhetoric and are getting ticked off by the failure to start impeachment inquiries when the leadership insists that Trump has committed impeachable offenses. Indeed, I have written that if these politicians are speaking truthfully about their belief that impeachable offenses have occurred, they have a duty to impeach and not shrug off their responsibility by blaming the expected result in the other house. This week Pelosi took a different spin: we cannot impeach Trump because that is what he wants.

Pelosi told the media this week that Trump is “goading” them to impeach and suggested that the last thing they want to do is to do what Trump wants. Instead, the Democrats have set about triggering a serious of lengthy court fights that will run out the clock into 2020 when they can just shrug and say it is just too late to impeach. At the same time, she is still claiming that this is “a constitutional crisis” because of constitutional violations.

Pelosi told an audience at Cornell University in New York City: “Don’t tell anybody I told you this: Trump is goading us to impeach him. That’s what he’s doing. Every single day, he’s just like, taunting and taunting and taunting.”

Of course, Pelosi and others have been saying that Trump’s impeachable conduct is clear and convincing. The problem is that it is better for the leadership to keep voters angry without risking any backlash of an impeachment trial. This is not about the Constitution. It is about power.

In the meantime, we remain a nation of chumps — played by both parties in a hardened duopoly of power.

  1. I agree that Democrats are chumps, that’s obvious (Bernie v. Clinton, Clinton’s email server, Donna Brazile, Wasserman Whatsername, etc.) and now the BS about “impeachable offenses” that has not bearing on reality whatsoever. But how do you claim Republicans are chumps? It seems to me, DJT’s election shows that Republicans refuse to be chumps!

And it always is and always will be. As Nietzsche said:

“Do you want a name for this world? A solution for all its riddles? A light for you, too, you best-concealed, strongest, most intrepid, most midnightly men?––This world is the will to power––and nothing besides! And you yourselves are also this will to power––and nothing besides!”
~ The Will to Power (1910)

That’s why principle always, always yields to power and why power must be met with opposing power to avoid tyranny. All freedom is achieved and maintained by the tip of a bayonet not merely by a rational foundation of words. The Will to Power is the irrational – or perhaps prerational – force of life that both creates and destroys. Once you understand that, you understand the real politik of the ages.

America and its Constitution have been absolutely corrupted – first by “Crazy Abe” Lincoln, subsequently by Wilson, Roosevelt, Johnson and Obama. All hail central planning, control of the means of production (i.e. regulation), redistribution of wealth and social engineering – all of which are irrefutably unconstitutional.

Karl Marx wrote the Communist Manifesto 59 years after the adoption of the Constitution because none of the principles of the Communist Manifesto were in the Constitution. Had the principles of the Communist Manifesto been in the Constitution, Karl Marx would have had no reason to write the Communist Manifesto. The principles of the Communist Manifesto were not in the Constitution then and the principles of the Communist Manifesto are not in the Constitution now.

  3. Reposting this at the top (and I’m not L4D):

    Turley’s words:

“This blog is committed to the principles of free speech and, as a consequence, we do not ban people simply because we disagree with them. Indeed, we value different perspectives and do not want to add another “echo chamber” to the Internet where we each repeat or amplify certain views.”

      1. No, she doesn’t need to post as anonymous. She knows she is a fool so she posts under numerous names and sometimes uses more than one of those names to strike out at people.

  4. Turley is Lying , the midterms were won by democrats because of their support for access to affordable healthcare and especially protecting coverage for pre-existing conditions.

Right now there is a bill pending I the senate which would protect this benefit which is jeopardy once again given Barr refusal to defend the ACA.

Cocaine McConnell refuse to bring this bill to the senate floor for a vote, so tell me again both sides are the same.

    1. Turley wants an impeachment proceeding so he can get those sweet billable hours from the repugs.

        1. There is nothing about that but it does prove the given, Allan is an idiot. Have a nice rant.

  5. Have visions in sweat lodge of Nancy Pelosi squaw. When she was a Papoose.

Now prophecy visions show new rep., AOC NY bartender make Nancy drink fire water. Many drinks.
2020 Dem candidates run around for wampum. Elders and medicine men are shocked.

  6. Peter Hill writes: ” In any event one has to ask if Trump’s ‘genius’ as a businessman was actually tax avoidance”

Clearly, Mr. Hill has never had to sign the front of a paycheck. Any business that does not take full advantage of existing IRS regulations to minimize or eliminate tax liability will not be in business very long.

So to paraphrase Lincoln: it is better to let people think you are clueless about tax matters than to post and remove all doubt.

  7. The Real Donald Trump Claims Showing Losses Was ‘Sport’

    @realDonaldTrump May 8

Real estate developers in the 1980’s & 1990’s, more than 30 years ago, were entitled to massive write offs and depreciation which would, if one was actively building, show losses and tax losses in almost all cases. Much was non monetary. Sometimes considered “tax shelter,” ……

….you would get it by building, or even buying. You always wanted to show losses for tax purposes….almost all real estate developers did – and often re-negotiate with banks, it was sport. Additionally, the very old information put out is a highly inaccurate Fake News hit job!

Trump tells us that showing losses was “sport” yet he calls the revelation “Fake News”. In any event one has to ask if Trump’s ‘genius’ as a businessman was actually tax avoidance. And should presidents with that ‘expertise’ be signing tax bills beneficial to the wealthy.

    1. How did my email show up here??????

I didn’t format it that way.

          1. Nevertheless, L4D appreciates the favor that Big Sister just did for poor Mr. H. I owe you. Thanks.

            1. L4D, I didn’t do anything with autofill settings. I never click on autofill. And I just cancelled them as an extra measure.

              1. L4D says, technically speaking, Mr. H, L4D is technologically inept. All I know is that machines can’t do anything that you didn’t tell them to do, even if you didn’t know that you were telling the machine to do it. You must be sending some sort of signal to the browser that posts comments here. It may be related to whatever changed your old pink and blue avatar to the generic brown and gray avatar.

              1. It wasn’t big sister’s suggestion, this time. I helped the last time (a few months ago) and…well, let’s just say there were side effects, so I didn’t offer any input this time. It was some other “Anonymous.”

    2. Read what Trump actually says. The Fake News is the medias interpretation of the facts not the facts Trump relates.

The President doesn’t pass bills. The President signs a bill into law or doesn’t. He can have an opinion but you have to blame Congress. You also have to pick up a book on how government is supposed to work.

  8. Democrats cannot or will not accept the legal results of the 2016 election. Their abuse of power is staggering. Now they are going after Barr for correctly summarizing the Mueller Report. Who does that? Threatens an AG because he didn’t lie about what was in the report? Is this some kind of threat against investigators? Deliver, even if you have to lie, or we will use the power of government against you?

This is inexcusable and anathema to a free country. All the Democrats are missing is their aviator glasses and a cigar.

Why do voters not seem to get that Democrats are doing everything that they have false accused Republicans of? Racism (identity politics). Gender discrimination (rampant misandry). Voter suppression and fraud (the Russian disinformation dossier, attempts to do away with the Electoral College, refusing to put Trump on the ballot). Fascisms (Antifa et al violently attacking people for opposing political views.) Hate (https://youtu.be/8I_xgqGehfE, severed heads in effigy, death threats against Trump, death threats against Covington high school kids, assaults on people for waring MAGA hats when nothing of the kind happened on this scale for those with Obama or Clinton clothing, assaults on free speech, barring conservatives from speaking on campus, bigotry against conservative students), anti-semitism (anti-Zionism, BDS, defending Ilhan Omar’s and the NYT’s anti-semitic screed).

When are people going to get it that the Democrat Party has descended into the very monstrous behavior they thought they were fighting against? They are their own boogy men. They are wrong about conservatism, utterly and completely, and need to take a serious look in the mirror.

    Stop the hate. Vote conservative.

    1. “This is inexcusable and anathema to a free country. All the Democrats are missing is their aviator glasses and a cigar.”

      They are fascists.

      1. Allan wants Democrats to Impeach Trump–STAT. Unless Democrats take their time and do a good job of gathering all of the evidence they need to Impeach Trump. Then Allan will turn on a dime and say that it is inexcusable and anathema that Democrats Impeached Trump with the fullest measure of evidence that could be gathered against Trump. Allan Is a Cubist commenter. And Dada, too.

        1. Diane, Allan wants stupid people like yourself to not promote Stalinism.

    2. Why do voters not seem to get that Democrats are

Cuba, Venezuela, Nazi Germany, Hillary and Bill Clinton….there is a long history of people enabling their dictators. Sad

      Stop the hate. Vote American

      FTFY

      1. It’s true that often dictators rise at the will of the people. They are great at self promotion. They outline an existential problem for society, and pitch that if the people will just cede their rights, their benevolent, loving government will have the power to take good care of them. They won’t have anything to worry about anymore. They’ll be given free stuff, and who doesn’t want free stuff?

Right now, the alleged existential threat used to lure people to support tyrannical socialism is global warming. Based on the Green New Deal, we already deduce the dictatorial government proposed. Ban air travel. Ban fossil fuels, which would also mean there’s no way to get crops from the fields to the stores. Crops would have to be harvested and processed by hand, so even less food will be available. No fossil fuels means no plastic for computers or iPhones. No means to produce or transport wind turbines. No asphalt. No medical devices or tubing for transfusions or saline. Many medications would be gone. We rely on fossil fuels to energize the grid because alternative energy can only account for a fraction of the total output needed, today, when most cars aren’t electric. Should all cars be electric the grid would collapse. Curtail meat production.

The list goes on, but the dystopia it would produce is shocking. And this was AOC’s first shot across the bow. The same lady who released a video describing her fear and confusion about how garbage disposals work, and what are they supposed to be used for, would use the power of the government to interfere in people’s ability to travel, obtain food, heat their homes in winter, or have access to computers or smart phones. They would be reduced to denuding the planet of trees just to stay alive in winter and cook food. It’s all supposed to be for their own good.

Honestly, voters have got to be more savvy than to vote for their own destruction. It doesn’t matter if anyone tells you they care about the planet or the poor. You have to look at how their proposed policies would impact either.

    3. Good God! You again. YOU are the one who cannot accept the true results of 2016, which is that HRC won the popular vote, and would have won the entire election but for a Russian social medial campaign that used key polling information provided by the Trump campaign to help him cheat. Trump was borrowing money and working deals with Russians and lied about it. His “victory” is tainted, and will always be listed as such in history. Before Trump, it was unthinkable that any POTUS would defer to a Communist dictator over American intelligence. We are on new, dangerous grounds.

Barr absolutely DID lie about the Mueller Report and about Mueller’s reaction to his deceitful “summary”, concocted to give Trump several favorable news cycles before the redacted report was released. He did the job he campaigned to get: protect Trump against justice. His duty of loyalty is supposed to be to the American people and the Constitution. He has violated his oath of office.

You complain that the American people aren’t buying the Faux News narrative that tries to flip the script on Trump’s racism, misogyny, xenophobia, lying and obstruction of justice by pivoting to accuse Democrats of the same conduct. MOST Americans didn’t vote for Trump, have consistently disapproved of him for an historically long period of time, and the overwhelming majority voted to flip the House in the biggest turnover since Watergate. This is a Congressional mandate to get to the bottom of the Russian interference with our elections and stop it from happening again, and to investigate Trump’s financial dealings and to whom he may be indebted so that we can ferret out his motivations and conflicts. The Constitution requires this of Congress.

MAGA is a symbol of all of the bad, un-American things Trump stands for: praise for White Supremacists, racism, bragging about assaulting women, caging toddlers to punish their parents for seeking asylum, constant lying, arrogance, narcissism and misogyny. The issue isn’t opposing “political views’–it is fundamental unfitness for office. Trump doesn’t have any actual “political views”. He lies about Mexico paying to construct a wall, he lies about having a better health care plan that no one has seen, and he has pushed for the biggest tax break for the very wealthy in history which has exponentially increased the national debt. Trump is not a conservative, either, because conservatives believe in avoiding debt, balancing the budget and do not support frivolous vanity projects like a “space force”. Pointing out that Trump is a liar, narcissist, misogynist, racist and xenophobe is not motivated by hatred. It is the truth, motivated by patriotism, and has nothing to do with politics.

      1. Natch tells conservatives what they are, lol

please inform yourself about the electoral college

        1. I’ll amend my post. Democrats also cannot accept how and why the Constitution set up the Electoral College, so that every state would matter to an elected president, and would be ignored at their peril.

They did not win according to the rules, so the rules must be retroactively changed, so that they can defraud voters and meddle in the election. Right now, voters in every state get their say, so that any elected President would consider their needs while in office. Should the electoral college be abolished by Democrats, then only a few kingmakers would matter, and the rest would become Districts of Panem to be dispensed with according to the Capital’s wishes. The lesson of Wisconsin 2016 wasn’t that ignoring Wisconsin during a Presidential election was foolish; rather, the lesson was to make 48 states Wisconsin, and continue to ignore them.

I fondly remember hearing similar discussions across news channels as pundits expressed their anxiety that Trump might win the popular vote but lose the electoral college, which they thought was in the bag for Hillary. They were gravely concerned that Trump might not accept the results of such an election. Ironic.

          1. Karen S. is apparently now forced to telecommute for insurance coverage. (Getting paid for her comments, perhaps?)

It’s so darned expensive to be a dilettante — her dream occupation.

          2. No, Honey. The Electoral College was set up to placate slave owners, to prevent abolitionists from doing away with human slavery the South so desperately tried to maintain for as long as it could, until the country erupted in Civil War. The one who “…did not win according to the rules” is Trump. He actively accepted help from a Communist country to engage in a social disinformation campaign directed to key precincts in certain key states. Who told the Russians where to direct their social media disinformation? The Trump campaign gave them insider polling information which they used to defeat the will of the majority of American voters. And, this is OK with you? Don’t try to deny the truth of these facts. They have been established by American intelligence, regardless of whether Trump and Faux News acknowledge that this is the truth. Why should Americans accept the results of an election engineered by Russian Communists?

The voters who were defrauded are the American people whose choice for President was prevented from winning by a throwback technicality, resulting in a minority candidate who cheated to “win” taking the White House. You and Turley can whine all you want about how unpopular Hillary Clinton was, but she still beat Trump in the popular vote. The American people, by consistent and overwhelming majorities, do not accept Trump and what he stands for.

          3. They did not win according to the rules,

Hillary knew the rules both times she ran for Queenship and she was just too arrogant to follow them. Then again Bill Clinton never followed the rules during his reign of terror in Arkansas and White House, so why would she think she should?

I cant think of a more evil, morally bankrupt, soulless person than Hillary Clinton. If you have ever read Dr. M. Scott Peck’s book “People of the Lie”, she fills the bill to a tee.

            https://www.amazon.com/People-Lie-Hope-Healing-Human/dp/0684848597
People of the Lie: The Hope for Healing Human Evil. In this absorbing and equally inspiring companion volume to his classic trilogy—The Road Less Traveled, Further Along the Road Less Traveled, and The Road Less Traveled and Beyond—Dr. M. Scott Peck brilliantly probes into the essence of human evil. People who are evil attack others instead of facing their own failures. Peck demonstrates the havoc these people of the lie work in the lives of those around them. He presents, from vivid incidents encountered in his psychiatric practice, examples of evil in everyday life. This book is by turns disturbing, fascinating, and altogether impossible to put down as it offers a strikingly original approach to the age-old problem of human evil.

That people voted for Bill twice in the 1990s! Hillary for the US Senate (New Yorkers, of course) and then threw money at her where she spent three times the amount that Trump soent leaves me speechless. I blame NY and California and sheer stupidity like the Israelites of the Old Testament.

  9. Certainly, Speaker Pelosi’s saying the President actually wants to be impeached is cynical and inflammatory rhetoric. It’s also part of a troubling pattern.

Last year during a video interview, Nancy Pelosi said

“I think that we owe the American people to be there for them, for their financial security, respecting the dignity and worth of every person in our country, and if there’s some collateral damage for some others who do not share our view, well, so be it, but it shouldn’t be our original purpose.”

It’s hard not to see that as an open endorsement of political violence. The definition of “collateral damage” is

n.Unintended damage, injuries, or deaths caused by an action, especially unintended civilian casualties caused by a military operation.

    .
    https://youtu.be/5b0HLau7D_I

There’s no rational construction for that statement. It is a an openly spoken wish for evil to befall those who disagree with her and her friends with no indication that Pelosi doesn’t mean it. She even seems to be lucid and unimpaired when she says it. But we ought to give Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi the benefit of the doubt, and consider why she says what an objective person might consider irrational things..

I’m not a physician. I don’t even play one on teevee. But I’ve seen enough irrational older relatives at family reunions to recognize irrationality when I see it. It’s time for Crazy Aunt Nancy to seek help for her problem.

    1. Bad Faith personified in a man who called for The Republican Congress to hire pirates to arrest Mueller–while they could. Bad Faith.

What kind of an _______ would accuse Gramma Nancy of “endorsing political violence” while calling upon The Republican Congress to hire pirates to arrest Mueller before Gramma Nancy took over as Speaker?

The Pirate’s name is Jean Lafitte and he endorses political violence.

  10. is Mueller another Watergate burglar, James McCord Jr involved in anti-Trump conspiracy, burglary and wiretapping? Mueller report dossier ?

I do hope AG Bill Barr and IG Horowitz investigate Mueller

    ——

    https://thefederalist.com/2019/05/09/robert-mueller-tap-fusion-gps-christopher-steele-assist-anti-trump-investigation/

Did Robert Mueller Tap Fusion GPS And Christopher Steele To Assist His Anti-Trump Investigation?

Special Counsel Robert Mueller spent more than $732,000 on outside contractors, including private investigators and researchers, records show, but his office refuses to say who they were. While it’s not unusual for special government offices to outsource for services such as computer support, Mueller also hired contractors to compile “investigative reports” and other “information.”

The arrangement has led congressional investigators, government watchdog groups and others to speculate that the private investigators and researchers who worked for the special counsel’s office might have included Christopher Steele and Fusion GPS, the private research firm that hired Steele to produce the Russia collusion dossier for the Clinton campaign.

They suspect the dossier creators may have been involved in Mueller’s operation, and even had a hand in his final report, because the special counsel sent his team to London to meet with Steele within a few months of taking over the Russia collusion investigation in 2017. Also, Mueller’s lead prosecutor, Andrew Weissmann, had shared information he received from Fusion with the media.

Raising additional suspicions, Mueller’s report recycles the general allegations leveled in the dossier. And taking a page from earlier surveillance-warrant applications in the Russia investigation, it cites as supporting evidence several articles—including one by Yahoo! News—that used Steele and Fusion as sources.

Mueller even kept alive one of the dossier’s most obscene accusations—that Moscow had “compromising tapes” of Trump with Russian hookers—by slipping into a footnote an October 2016 text Trump lawyer Michael Cohen received from a “Russian businessman,” who cryptically intimated, “Stopped flow of tapes from Russia.”

Lawyers for the businessman, Giorgi Rtskhiladze (who is actually a Georgian American), are demanding a retraction of the footnote, arguing Mueller omitted the part of his text where he said he did not believe the rumor about the tapes, for which no evidence has ever surfaced.

Mueller’s reliance on the Steele dossier is raising questions because it occurred long after FBI Director James B. Comey described the dossier as “salacious and unverified.” U.S. Rep. Devin Nunes, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, said the report should be renamed “The Mueller Dossier,” because he says it contains a lot of similar innuendo.

  11. Let me see if I understand you, Jon Turley: you are accusing Democrats of playing games about impeaching Agent Orange, and not being truthful about their intentions, so, according to you, Democrats are playing Americans as chumps?

EVERYONE, including you, Turley, knows that The Donald thinks it will help him politically if the Democrats move to impeach, so he is doing everything possible to try to force them to do so. EVERYONE, including you, Turley, knows the Senate, as long as McConnell is alive, won’t allow impeachment, no matter how egregious The Donald’s conduct or what the unredacted portions of the Mueller Report show. The Donald wants desperately to hold onto what he believes is the power of the Presidency by trying to force Democrats to fail at impeaching him. Polls show that so far, Americans aren’t in favor of impeachment at this point. Americans spoke vociferously last fall by voting out Republicans and voting in Democrats in the largest House turnover since Watergate. The Democrats are complying with the mandate supplied by the midterm elections. Are they just supposed to ignore the fact that a country run by a Communist dictator helped elect The Donald by using polling data supplied by his campaign to target key precincts in certain key states? Is Congress supposed to stand silent in the face of the overwhelming evidence that Trump obstructed justice? Is it OK that some political hack campaigned for the job of top law enforcement official by promising not to indict The Donald, no matter what the evidence, and then lies to Congress by claiming he didn’t know how the Special Counsel felt about his misleading summary of the investigation, just to give Trump favorable news coverage?

Yes, there are more than adequate grounds for impeaching Trump and Barr, too, but that’s not the issue. This country is in an existential crisis created by Russians helping to elect an unfit lying narcissist indebted to them who puts his ego ahead of America. He won’t admit that Russians interfered, and won’t take steps to stop further interference. Now, he’s thumbing his nose at Congress, doing everything possible to prevent valid investigation into his finances and the extent of Russian influence, and, as Mueller has established, taking steps to obstruct justice, which includes appointing an AG who will do everything possible, including lying to the American people, to help cover and protect the most unfit person ever to occupy the White House. The ones playing Americans for chumps are the Republicans.

    1. “Yes, there are more than adequate grounds for impeaching Trump and Barr, too,”

      Natacha, Honey, list the grounds.

      1. Read my post above and the Mueller report. You are just teed off that Pelosi isn’t taking the bait.

isnt it interesting how they used to sometimes portray homosexual aggression in movies and that has kind of gone out of style? even though it’s still a large number of crimes every year, one would think they are all very peaceful now, from how portrayed, in spite of statistics

  13. Hopefully, this indicates that most Democrats are returning to reality.

Finding Barr in contempt and talking about impeachment without doing it are symbolic non-substantive face-saving gestures that allow you to refrain from having to come out and say that the howling over the last two-plus years on this farce was a waste of time.

Hopefully, it indicates Democrats are willing to move on to substantive issues over the summer and into the 2020 election period.
We could use responsible discussion of issues next year and let the votes fall where they may with regard to those discussions.

    1. Not with the Great Fabricator in charge of their non-party. Remember rthey are the minority now as Socialist Progressives with both the Constitutional Republic Party AND the much larger Constitutional Centrist Coalition leading the parade. The left will continue to play stupid in the street during rush hour traffic. What else can they do. What else have they done? Nothing.

  14. Pelosi has got a nasty bunch of spoiled children on her hands. She must play schoolmarm to a bunch of toddlers. What she really wanted was a bunch of skilled grifters and instead it’s a pack of whiny brats.

This cruddy bridge outside my window still needs fixing and you would think Democrats would be eager to line up some pork for the construction companies to get busy on it. Instead its all about impeachment and gay rights or whatever the cause du jour is

      Wait, what big infrastructure program?

      1. i cant figure this out seriously. i must be dumb as a box of rocks.

maybe they all figure it’s best to wait until the expansion stalls and then use it as stimulus.

  15. The Republicans do it also with LIFE and Obamacare. Empty promises. Sound bites only. Sick of it.

    1. Not hard to do when Obamacare was a sick empty promise.

      1. Michael:

“The number of uninsured, and the share of the nonelderly population that was uninsured, rose from 44.2 million (17.1%) to 46.5 million (17.8%) between 2008 and 2010 as the country faced an economic recession (Figure 1). As early provisions of the ACA went into effect in 2010, and as the economy improved, the number of uninsured people and uninsured rate began to drop. When the major ACA coverage provisions went into effect in 2014, the number of uninsured and uninsured rate dropped dramatically and continued to fall through 2016, when just below 27 million people (10% of the nonelderly population) lacked coverage.”

Even If you’re not on Obabamcare but are insured, you are still covered for preexisting conditions and children up to 26 can stay on their parents policy.

        https://www.kff.org/uninsured/fact-sheet/key-facts-about-the-uninsured-population/

” -More people who have coverage are underinsured now than in 2010, with the greatest increase occurring among those in employer plans.
        – People who are underinsured or spend any time uninsured report cost-related problems getting care and difficulty paying medical bills at at higher rates than those with continuous, adequate coverage.
-Federal and state governments could enact policies to extend the ACA’s health coverage gains and improve the cost protection provided by individual-market and employer plans…

Although the ACA has expanded and improved coverage options for people without access to a job-based health plan, the law largely left the employer market alone….”

        1. Anon, you keep talking garbage and haven’t yet responded to Karen.

Insurance doesn’t equal healthcare. In many nations all it does is give one a place in line.

          1. Similarly, your babble doesn’t make sense but here you are everyday. Government provided healthcare is successful in all major industrial countries, here we are too greedy.

  16. After 2.5 years with the Democrats and the media laser-focused on St. Mueller’s investigation, are we now to believe congressional Democrats were more qualified after all to conduct the investigation than Mueller and his team? As optics go, the Democrats are doing their own version of What Happened? It hasn’t been a good look for Clinton, and it looks even worse on the Democratic party.

As I see it, we probably have about 50% of the public that isn’t hardened to the right or left. The Democrats had the opportunity to fold their cards on this Russia-Trump boondoggle and begin building their political capital by moving to the center. They chose instead to double-down with a losing hand and at the same time, their 2020 candidates are tripping over themselves pandering to their most lefty of constituents. This will leave them with about 75% of this country to their right. I doubt anyone is going to be throwing them a lifeline.

    1. That 50% is the Constitutional Centrist Coalition up from their 40% largest voting block in 2016.

      1. Michael,
I believe Tip O’Neill had it correct when he said all politics are local. That middle 50% is very likely more pragmatist than anything else. While the outer 50% get wrapped around the axle of the meaning of words like is and spying, the middle 50% intuitively understand that axle is and always will be attached to a wagon hauling manure for the political elites. These centrists are not stupid people. IMO, they have common sense. They know right from wrong. They don’t accept double-standards. They don’t accept hypocrisy. They know legal from illegal. They will never accept people in this country illegally receiving any of the rights and privileges that legal residents and citizens have. Ignore this group and the only way elections will be won is through fraud.

  17. Our Congress is supposed to work for the betterment of the citizens of the nation. It is failing to do that and instead looking out for their own reelections. This type of behaviour at this time most obvious among Democrats is what destroys a nation.

I think the average person would prefer a well run nation with a standard of living that is rising. So far Trump is providing that whether one likes him or not. The Democratic response should be how to do better than Trump but what they are advocating is destroying his progress and not replacing it with anything of substance.

  18. Absolutely! But Pelosi is too smart to let it play out with the “shrug”. The House committee chairs are committed to the image they made for themselves. It will be ‘oversight” with pitchforks! Pelosi will see that “oversight” like that is disaster. Does anybody remember the word “governing” any more? She’ll need to force the House to do something it looks like they forgot how to do…legislate!

    1. The Senators and Representatives don’t Govern they legislate some of them . The Executive Branch Governs at least this one does,

    2. Legislate! Legislate!
      Dance to the music!
      Nancy was a Vegas whore…
      Back when voters made more.
