“They Think Were Crazy But We’re The Sane Ones”: Jim Bakker Show Selling Trump Coins As “Point of Contact” With God

We have periodically checked in on the disgraced televangelical preacher Jim Bakker from selling doomsday pancake mix to exploring how supernatural demons are undermining Donald Trump. Now it appears that Bakker has found — and is offering for the low price of only $45 — a “point of contact” with God. You guessed it . . . it is a coin with Trump engraved in gold with the face of King Cyrus.

The pitchman on “The Jim Bakker Show” is Lance Wallnau, who says that he has been checking with God and has been told that the Almighty is behind Trump a hundred percent.

The Biblical connection is strengthened on the reverse side with the Biblical quotation from Isaiah 45:1 — “Thus saith the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him and to strip kinds of their armor, to open doors before him so that gates shall not be shut.”

He told viewers:

“… This coin is our point of contact. When I asked the Lord, “Why the coin?” The Lord said, “Because when you take the coin, it’s a point of contact. So your faith is being released with a million other believers to pray [for] protection and peace and wisdom and counsel over the president of the United States and over his family. That’s our point of contact every day when you see it.
Remember: God put something in your hand that you have a role in.

That’s why we’ve got to pray, because they think we’re crazy, but we’re actually the sane ones. And so we’re praying. We’re gonna pray. The teaching that is here, this coin is a point of contact, this 24-karat gold-plated coin. And, by the way, I couldn’t copy the Sanhedrin model. I told them I would do an original. So we found a nicer picture of the president. We have our own version of it.
But what we want to do is, we want to be able to start. Jim, this movement. We’ve got 16 months. This battle for the future of America has already started. 16 to 18 months. We’re already in it. We’re in the battle right now. We need to be praying now and not captive to gloom or anxiety or fear, but for channeling our optimism in the direction of God’s begun a miracle; let’s keep that miracle going.

No, Mr. Wallnau, I do not think you are crazy. It is far worst than that. You are grifting with God. Indeed, the fact that you were not smitten down on live television could be viewed as disproving the existence of God. For my part, it only makes me want to believe more in the concept of eternal punishment (perhaps being forced to eat all of the doomsday pancakes sold to the gullible on “The Jim Bakker Show”).

By the way, “gold platted” simply means a thin layer of gold covering a cheaper metal. It is not “gold” that rises or falls with the market. Indeed, thee Federal Trade commission classes “gold plate” at .5 microns and many grifters call things below .5 microns as “gold platted.” Thus, these coins cost very, very little to make. The rest of that $45 goes to Wallnau or others looking for a “point of contact” with windfall profits.

One can only hope given this passage from Matthew 21:12-17:

Then Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who were selling and buying in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves.  He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer’; but you are making it a den of robbers.”

  1. about religious nonsense

We hear a constant clamor for rights, rights, always rights, but so very little about responsibility. And we have forgotten God. The need now is for selflessness, for a spirit of sacrifice, for a willingness to put aside personal gains for the salvation of the whole Western world. If I were asked today to formulate as concisely as possible what was the main cause of the ruinous revolution that swallowed up some 60 million of our people, I could not put it more accurately than to repeat: ‘Men had forgotten God; that is why all this has happened.

  2. There is only one good thing about religious nonsense as Napoleon pointed out: it keeps the poor man from murdering the rich…

  3. a better choice than these phony plated coins are solid gold canadian maple leafs, american eagles or buffalos, or the good old kruggerands.

i posted a link to a good vendor but apparently it got filtered. just go on down to a long established local bricks and mortar store they will give you a good price if you ask first “how much over spot for bullion” then they will tell you

dont mistake a good coin shop for one of those popup “we buy gold” charlatans either
look for the ones with decades in business, they’ll steer you right

  4. Small ‘Christian’ Group Plays Outsize Role..

In Shaping U.S. Policies At United Nations..

Regarding Women’s Rights And LGBT Rights

Last spring, Laurie Shestack Phipps, a diplomat at the US mission to the UN, received a set of talking points from the state department before an international women’s conference, setting out clear red lines against mention of “sexual and reproductive health” care.

This had become the norm in the Trump administration, where the once uncontroversial phrase was seen as code for abortion. Use of the word “gender” was also strongly discouraged, as it was viewed as a stalking horse for LGBT rights.

It was no surprise that Phipps’ colleague, Bethany Kozma, a political appointee at the US agency for international development, had the same text. What was shocking was that she heard exactly the same words coming from the Yemeni spokesman for the Arab Group.

Most striking of all – the shared script was already familiar. It had been circulated before the conference by an anti-abortion lobbying group called the Center for Family and Human Rights, or C-Fam.

C-Fam has emerged from the extreme right fringe on abortion, sexual orientation and gender identity to become a powerful player behind the scenes at the UN. With a modest budget and a six-strong staff led by the president Austin Ruse, it has leveraged connections inside the Trump administration to enforce a rigid orthodoxy on social issues, and helped build a new US coalition with mostly autocratic regimes that share a similar outlook.

And that coalition has already significantly shifted the terms of the UN debate on women’s and LGBT rights. C-Fam leveraged connections inside the Trump administration to enforce a rigid orthodoxy on social issues

“When we got into negotiations, my instructions from Washington were verbatim taken from C-Fam, and Kozma had the same talking points,” said Phipps, now an adjunct professor of global issues at Fairleigh Dickinson University. “Then the Arab group spoke … and they read their statement and it was exactly the same. I turned to Bethany and said: ‘How did they get your talking points?’ I was winding her up. She looked pretty chagrined. We both knew they were from C-Fam.”

C-Fam’s channel into the state department and into the US mission to the UN under the then ambassador Nikki Haley, had made itself increasingly apparent in the run up to the 2018 Commission on the Status of Women at the UN’s New York headquarters.

    Today’s “The Guardian”

    1. Re: The Above

Here we learn that the United States is increasingly aligned with the Muslim world and authoritarian regimes because the Trump Administration shares their views that women’s rights should be limited and that LGBT’s don’t really deserve any rights. And working behind the scenes to dictate U.S. policy towards the U.N. is some fringe, rightwing nonprofit whose funding sources are unknown.

    2. The Catholic Family and Human Rights Center is an advocacy group run by Austin Ruse. Peter’s not familiar with anything uttered outside the restrooms in West Hollywood, so he finds temperate critics of the prevailing order like Ruse send him into seizures.

      1. OMG!!!

        You just killed him

Peter…douse yourself, dude, because you are burning in flames

      2. Tabby, the article has much to say on that group. The Roman Catholic Church was obliged to put some distance between them. They aren’t mainstream anything. It’s an office of 6 people whose budget is funded by unknown donors.

And Tabby your homophobic jokes sound like small town redneck. I hung out with guys like that in my high school days. Nothing’s more boring than endless, gay-themed jokes. And boring drunks, more than anyone, pursue that type of humor.

Perhaps you think the mere mention of West Hollywood is a slam-dunk of a zinger. Sounds like someone who’s never step foot in California.

Where are you posting from? Western New York State? The outer Buffalo region? Are you what passes as an intellectual in a less-than urban community?

In a less-than-urban community Libertarians fancy themselves as the real progressives. And no one’s going to challenge that in the outer suburbs. So a homophobic drunk could easily imagine himself as terribly, terribly wise.

      3. Poor Smith just can’t keep up with his blog maintainance project. Why else would Smith allow this remark to slip through the cracks?

“. . . not familiar with anything uttered outside the restrooms in West Hollywood . . . ”

It simply must be that Smith is over-worked.

  5. Thank you JT for throwing the Lefties a meatless bone, they needed something that they could perceive as a win.

    1. The Left don’t want a meatless bone. They want the heads of infant babies since, after all it, it isn’t a life, it’s a blob of tissue.

is it too late to abort the blob of trolls on these forums?

      Asking for a friend

      She’s a child not a choice!

      1. Excellent video. Something to be seen by all.

I think you should intermittantly post it here on the blog. Some people might not get the point on only one viewing.

  6. This Con Indicates What We Suspected Already

Trump’s Base Of Support Encompasses Far-Right (Nutty) Christians

It was during Reagan’s 1980 campaign that the so-called ‘Christian Right’ first became a force in American politics. Said movement was largely based in small towns of the South and Midwest. Politically they were motivated by opposition to abortion more than anything. But gun rights were also a big concern to them. ‘Pro-Life-Pro-Gun’ is how one could describe them.

Since 1980, the Christian Right has become the most loyal of Republican political bases. And one can still describe them as ‘Pro-Life-Pro-Gun’. Because of the Electoral College system and design of the U.S. Senate, this base has had an outsize influence on American politics. For that reason every Republican candidate must pass an anti-abortion litmus test. It is also the reason Republicans will never allow congressional hearings on gun violence.

But the Christian Right’s embrace of Donald Trump represents the most absurd contradiction in recent political history. Trump was known as a playboy for most of his career. Trump even partied at The Playboy Mansion on more than a few occasions. Never was Trump thought of as being even remotely linked to Christian conservatives in the South and Midwest.

Yet because Trump is a Republican and tows the party’s line on abortion and guns, he is now seen by the Christian Right as their natural ally. Which illustrates what a joke the Christian Right really is.

    1. I bet Trump is big in western michigan that has a fairly religious Dutch Reformed population (Devos – Prince country, Holland, Grand Rapids) but man those Dutch girls know how to party let me tell ya. Tall, hot and blonde, wow. Didn’t Kid Rock write a song about that?

and very industrious people., just today on NPR they were talking about western michigan manufacturing concerns

        “All Summer Long”

        It was 1989
My thoughts were short my hair was long
Caught somewhere between a boy and man
        She was seventeen
And she was far from in-between
It was summertime in Northern Michigan

        Splashing through the sand bar
        Talking by the campfire
It’s the simple things in life, like when and where
        We didn’t have no Internet
But, man, I never will forget
The way the moonlight shined upon her hair

And we were trying different things
        We were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song
        Sipping whiskey out the bottle
        Not thinking ’bout tomorrow
Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long

Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long

        Catching Walleye from the dock
Watching the waves roll off the rocks
She’ll forever hold a spot inside my soul
        We’d blister in the sun
We couldn’t wait for night to come
To hit that sand and play some rock and roll

While we were trying different things
And we were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song
        Sipping whiskey out the bottle
        Not thinking ’bout tomorrow
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long

Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long

        Sweet Home Alabama
        Turn it up

        Now nothing seems as strange
As when the leaves began to change
Or how we thought those days would never end
        Sometimes I hear that song
And I start to sing along
And think, man, I’d love to see that girl again

Man, I’d like to see that girl again

And we were trying different things
And we were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song
        Sipping whiskey out the bottle
        Not thinking ’bout tomorrow
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long

        We were trying different things
And we were smoking funny things
Making love out by the lake to our favorite song
        Sipping whiskey out the bottle
        Not thinking ’bout tomorrow
Singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
Singing Home Sweet Home Alabama all summer long
        Singing all summer long

    2. Your tone seems to lack the requisite common sense. There is nothing wrong with the Christian right support for the Second Amendment and nothing wrong with their opposition to abortion on demand and infanticide. They also like a growing economy and a strong nation. These things are things people that love America have in common.

  7. Jim Bakker is the religious version of Al Gore. Both running continuous scams. But to put things in perspective we hear from reporter some years ago that Tammy Faye was caught with her makeup off and found to be Jimmy Hoffa.

Old Joke but of a much higher level

    1. Michael …..Bakker as religious version of Gore: yes, I can see that …LOL
And Tammy Faye & Hoffa. Now that I think about it, I never saw the two of them together….at same time! hmmmm Veddy interestink!.😊
Those were the golden days of televangelism…….with pyroxided Jan and husband Paul something…..and that guy LaVerne Tripp.
I always felt he was actually sincere. His favorite saying was ” It just don’t get no better than this!”

  8. Geez, Turley, why did you have to tell THIS crowd about this? Don’t you know that most of them already spent money for Trump’s wall?

  9. Thirty years ago, when Jerry Falwell was engaged in his brief and ultimately failed project to clean up the PTL Ministries, a quondam associate of Bakker said, “I don’t know if Jim has any conscience left at all”. The Bakkers weren’t quite as audacious as Ernest Angeley, but the con wasn’t concealed. Tammy Faye ended her days as a junior-grade gay icon a la Judy Garland.

  10. This is not Christianity and all Christians should say so. There is no such thing as a point of contact with God. It’s just a gnostic gimmick that hucksters sell to naive people. Christians should pray for them, they do need it.

  11. Jesus by the pound
    Jesus by the dollar
    Buying some dat God
    Makes me whoop and holler

  12. I didn’t know Jim Bakker was still alive.
People usually get in trouble when they “proof-text” the Scriptures.
Also in Matthew, Jesus compares Gentiles to dogs. So, there’s a little something for everyone in the B-I-B-L-E!

  13. Baker should remember that the only time Christ reacted in rage was when he found the money changers and others in the temple making money. He picked up a whip, I understand, and drove them out!

  14. I am surprised that with Baker’s talents the Obama Administration didn’t hire him for a high position immediately. Jim Baker is selling coins the way Obama sold his empty programs only the coin costs a lot less.

    1. He’s one of yours. And the coins fits the Trump Administration perfectly. Coins and trinkets.

      1. Baker is selling a product which is what businessmen do but along with that product he is selling a promise that was a lie. That is right up Obama’s alley.’You can keep your doctor…’

Yes, Baker would have been a rising star in the Obama administration. He used religion just like Sharpton and Jessie Jackson who sold a bill of goods and profited greatly.

        1. Allan, what a labored effort on your part to deflect from the fact that part of Trump’s base consists of gullible rubes. The ‘same’ gullible rubes who call liberals ‘murderers’.

          1. Some Liberals are murderers but beside that fact conservatives are more trusting and more willing to forgive. The ones that are gullible rubes are also Liberals. Just look at all those that fell for the Steele Dossier and golden showers. Just look at all those that fell for the ACA when one of the main architects admits that the ACA relied on the ignorance of people which would be the Liberal subset.

            1. Some Liberals are murderers . . . the ones that are gullible rubes are also Liberals . . . conservatives are more trusting and more willing to forgive.

    1. L4D speculates: The crazy ones are smitten with sanity. The sane ones are smitten with craziness. Opposite charges attract. Like charges repel. Neither sanity nor craziness are electromagnetic. Unless I’m crazy, too. How’s about you?

  15. L4D says; By Jove. But there is dander in Turley’s hackles when he raises them up to The Heavens. Hoo! Rah!

      1. L4D says: The Weird Sisters are “preternatural”–not supernatural.

      2. Yeah, Tom, as everyone knows Witches are a natural base of support for Godless liberal ‘murderers’.

        1. Witches are more accurately part of the Religious Left……I didn’t say anything about “Godless liberal murderers”.

      3. Excerpted from the article linked above:

He pointed out the prevalence of various quasi-occult images and memes among the alt-right: the performance of Kek worship, for example (in which popular alt-right symbol Pepe the Frog is venerated by some in that community, albeit with no small degree of irony, as a chaos god), or professions of belief in meme magic, the notion that internet memes (such as the “Sick Hillary” meme prevalent during the 2016 election cycle) might affect real life. (When Clinton really did get ill at a 9/11 memorial, internet denizens joked that “meme magic” was behind it all.) There too, Gault noted, a kind of grounds-up, anarchic approach to ritual and religious imagery served a political aim: countering what he called the “top-down neoliberalism” that many on the political right objected to.

  16. Religion is the opiate of the people. Coins are a Bit stupid. Bitcoins should be avoided at all costs. What a dumb notion of investment.

    1. “bigger fool theory” of value, applies both to numismatics and crypto I’m afraid

these things in the article are not numismatics they are just sucker bait

  17. If the left can believe in sociaism then I am sure some others will believe in this. what frightens me about either of those groups is that they vote.

    1. and worse vote socialist having not figured out that it isn’t the party of Democracy since we don’t have one of those since 1909 as a working figment but Constitutionally ,…never.

  18. That’s why we’ve got to pray, because they think we’re crazy, but we’re actually the sane ones.

He is plagiarizing Peter Shill from these hallowed trolling grounds.
Bakker is proof positive our correctional system works wonders.
    Just ask these stellar oracles…

Anthony Weiner (D-NY)[5] was convicted of sending sexually explicit photos of himself to a 15-year-old girl and was made to sign the sexual offenders

Corrine Brown (D-FL) was convicted on 18 felony counts of wire and tax fraud, conspiracy, lying to federal investigators, and other corruption charges. (2017)

Chaka Fattah (D-PA) was convicted on 23 counts of racketeering, fraud, and other corruption charges. (2016)
