Teen Arrested In Attack On Elderly Couple and Firefighter

The NYPD is still looking for all but one of these teens. This picture shows a group of teenagers who allegedly were harassing and abusing an elderly couple. A 38-year-old firefighter was driving by and stopped to tell the group to stop harassing the elderly couple. The teenagers proceeded to attack the unidentified firefighter, resulting in several broken teeth and a concussion. Yesterday, the police arrested Damir Johnson, 17, was charged with one count of second-degree assault. They are looking for the other five.

The charge seems a tad light since the incident began with harassing an elderly couple and then resulting in a mob attack on a good samaritan.

The lack of any recognition of either the elderly couple or the rescuer as human beings in this attack are the most chilling aspect of the crime. Such crimes reflect a serious threat to society by people who lack any evidence of empathy or humanity in their actions. According to the New York Daily News, Johnson was arrested after a tip. He is the one in the white long-sleeved shirt.

It should not take long to identify the other teens and, if they are all around 17, they are likely to be tried as adults for such a despicable and violent offense.

    In her short time in Congress, freshman U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar has made a name for herself as a vehement anti-Semite. She infamously invoked age-old anti-Semitic tropes when she tweeted “It’s all about the Benjamins [$100 bills], baby,” accusing the pro-Israel organization AIPAC of donating to politicians in order to secure favorable treatment of the Jewish state. Omar is also an ardent supporter of the Hamas-funded Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel. Now it appears that despite her highly controversial record and short career in public service, schoolchildren in Minnesota are being taught to venerate the fledgling politician.

    John Hinderaker the President of the Center of the American Experiment located in Omar’s home state of Minnesota, reports on Powerline’s blog that a public elementary school in the state assigned its students to color in reverential pictures of Omar and also to write a report on the Congresswoman.

    “This photo came from a public elementary school in Minneapolis,” Hinderaker reports, citing an image featuring a display of coloring pages that each depict Omar standing with an almost military bearing, face upturned, staring off into the distance. She is wearing a headscarf and keffiyeh (prayer shawl). Several detailed floral designs are arranged around her face. “I’ve been told that the same coloring project has been reported in at least one suburban school district, but I don’t have definite confirmation of that yet,” Hinderaker adds. He does not identify the school districts participating in the assignment.

    As Hinderaker points out, Omar is a highly successful politician, who has raised “three to five times as much” in campaign donations as other U.S. House members from Minnesota. Apparently Minnesota’s public schools are doing whatever they can to cement her reputation as an icon.

    “Omar is being raised to heroic status in her district’s public schools,” writes Hinderaker. “Elementary school students are apparently being taught to revere her, much as, in recent years, they have been taught to see Martin Luther King, Jr. as a kind of secular saint. Someone has distributed an Ilhan Omar card that students are instructed to color, while writing a ‘report’ on the inside. I assume those reports are paeans to the Congresswoman.”

    Congresswoman Omar’s questionable actions and comments extend well beyond her hatred of Israel. She served as the keynote speaker at a recent event to benefit the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), an organization known for its strong ties to Islamic extremism. Steven Pomerantz, the former chief of counter-terrorism at the FBI has baldly stated that “CAIR, its leaders and its activities effectively give aid to international terrorist groups.”

    At that event Omar shared the stage with CAIR-Florida executive director Hassan Shibly, who refuses to classify Hezbollah and Hamas as terrorist organizations. During her speech, Omar notoriously referred to the 9/11 attacks in which approximately 3000 American citizens died as “some people did something.”

    Omar’s record in the Minnesota State House of Representatives, where she served as a representative from 2016-2018, is also troubling. In 2017, Omar voted against a bill that would allow life insurance companies to refuse to pay benefits in cases where the insured party died while committing an act of terrorism—one of only two state representatives to do so. She also opposed a bill which would make it a felony for parents to make their daughters undergo female genital mutilation.

    Other allegations against the Congresswoman are deeply disturbing. The Minnesota Sun reported in October 2018 that “probable cause” existed to show that Omar together with her campaign committee to elect her to the state legislature in 2016 had committed “at least three separate [campaign finance] violations, including the alleged use of campaign funds to pay off legal fees related to her divorce.”

    Online encyclopedia of the left, Discoverthenetworks.org, also reports that during her run for the Minnesota House in 2016, Omar “faced highly credible allegations that – in an effort to perpetrate immigration fraud and/or student loan fraud – she had married her own brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, in 2009 and was still legally his wife.” Omar responded by claiming these reports were “disgusting lies” made by those who are “deeply invested in stopping a progressive, black, Muslim, hijab-wearing, immigrant woman.”

    Congresswoman Omar is establishing her own legacy—one in which scandals percolate and anti-Semitism, and apologetics for Islamic extremism take center stage. Minnesota’s public schools are attempting to give her a very different one.

          The test for any theory or observation is, “is it true”? Does it work in the real world? Leftists tend to look at things (particularly race and culture) through ideological lenses and if it doesn’t fit, does mental gymnastics to explain it away.             Antonio, the problem is that we are forced into their wacky world as are many innocents. We at least have the means to take care of ourselves so we also should think of those that have not been as fortunate and have been forced into terrible circumstances because of stupid people with plenty of left wing ideology and no common sense.

        Here I am saying not that one teaches morals in school rather one doesn’t teach what is wrong. As you say, it is the parents job to teach morality. However, one can never separate morality from daily actions. In school morality might simply be taught through the choice of books one reads. Think of what you know about George Washington and the cherry tree. Better yet read Richard Brookheiser’s book on Washington, “Founding Father”, and see how that can influence a young mind in the positive direction.

  6. Schools, and families, need to work together in teaching citizenship. Any photos from any place in the US should be shown. Punishment must fit the crime. Hours of community service must follow the attack, if possible. Hours of CS increases with each additional charge. Families can participate by having the child put his grandparents in the discussion. It makes an attack on elderly personal. Any videos with sound should be seen and heard. Have any victim willing to talk about what happened. Make it personal.

    2. This is a responsibility and child-rearing problem not a race problem. When I grew up, A-A families were intact and had strong ties to the community. They didn’t adopt Thug Culture and attending church at rates approaching or exceeding Caucasian families. Dads meted out discipline and moms cared for the household. Now that community has been decimated by liberal policies that forced dads out and moms to go to work or subsist on welfare. Crime in the black community was always high due to plenty of factors like poverty and unemployment. In the 70s, the drug trade introduced unprecedented violence into the AA community and the rest of America did little to stem the tide. It is demonstrably true that blacks are over-represented both as perpetrators and victims of crime. That said, generalized statistics of group behavior shed almost no light on the conduct of the members of the group. The depicted crime is herd mentality chronicled to occur among most all ethnic groups when congregated into a crowd. See, “The Crowd: A Study of the Popular Mind” by Guatave LeBon or “The Group Mind” by McDougall. These miscreants need to be dealt with harshly but their group did not commit the crime; they did. As the great conservative philosopher Edmund Burke always reminds us: “I do not know the method of drawing up an indictment against a whole people.”

        Who care’s if they are black or white or another color? They are just kids that have been brought up wrong and have a higher chance of a lousy life with at least part of it in jail. The solution or at a least a partial solution is to look at the group and see if the problem existed prior to the War on Poverty. One will see that the problems have increased since then and one of the major problems is broken families. Then one asks themselves what programs have changed things to make things worse. In this case it is the lack of fathers. Unfortunately that was created by leftist programs that were supposed to do good not harm. Discipline is needed but today we provide tears about what happened in the past. The left doesn’t want to deal with reality. I want to help those kids get a good start in life. They were born no differently than my own.

        A “hate fact” is something which is objectively true but does not conform to the leftist, egalitarian theory of how the world should be.

        Numerous countries have outlawed the expression of “hate facts” and it will come to the United States sooner or later.

        But as any incorrect or false view of human nature, egalitarianism will eventually collapse due to its own contradictions as did that other great, false view of human nature called Communism.

        Wishing everyone were equal, punishing dissenting thoughts will not change the fact neither people, nor cultures are equal or contribute equally to the maintenance of civilization.

    8. The quantity and quality of this type of group violence certainly is associated with black people. There is no denying it. It is well documented in FBI crime stats. The refusal to deal with this reality has he effect of propagating these sorts of informal gang crimes (pack violence). For instance, the current trend is toward diminution of prosecution and jail time. The trend is not justified by crime prevention or justice; but rather a fetishization of black people and the associated impunity.
