Jeffrey Epstein Arrested In New York

Jeffrey_Epstein_mug_shotNotorious billionaire Jeffrey Epstein has been arrested on sex trafficking charges in New York.  The arrest comes after months of litigation linked to Epstein’s controversial plea bargain over a decade ago.  Ongoing litigation over sealed records recently led to an order to unseal, including material linked to Harvard Professor Alan Dershowitz who has denied allegations that the underaged girls were ordered to sleep with him.  Epstein is accused of trafficking dozens of minors in New York and Florida between 2002 and 2005. He will appear in court in New York on Monday,

I have previously written about the disgraceful sweetheart deal given to Epstein. The deal was struck by Secretary of Labor Alex Acosta and not only succeeded in protecting Epstein from serous jail time but protecting a host of high-profile friends including Bill Clinton who were regulars at his infamous island resort. The problem is that the investigation is not being handled by the Inspector General but the oft-criticized DOJ Office of Professional Responsibility. OPR is routinely criticized for its defense of accused officials, even in some indefensible circumstances. For critics, it often seems more like OPR offers more cover than scrutiny in controversies over prosecutorial abuse. Moreover, the Epstein scandal involves serious questions of corrupt influence by powerful friends of Epstein. Such questions require serious investigative measures. OPR is more likely to find that the deal was within the scope of permissible decisions by a prosecutor like Acosta despite being widely ridiculed as an utter disgrace.

Epstein was notorious for his infamous “Lolita Express” where he took friends like Bill Clinton by plane to his private estate on the Caribbean island of Little Saint James with young girls who allegedly were used as prostitutes.

Despite a strong case for prosecution, Epstein’s lawyers, including Alan Dershowitz and Ken Starr, were able to secure a ridiculous deal with prosecutors. He was accused of abusing more than forty minor girls (with many between the ages of 13 and 17).  Sasse is correct, the handling of the case is a disgrace but it is unlikely to result in any real punishment. Certainly not for Epstein who pleaded guilty to a Florida state charge of felony solicitation of underage girls in 2008 and served a 13-month jail sentence.  Moreover, to my lasting surprise, the Senate approved the man who cut that disgraceful deal, former Miami U.S. attorney Alexander Acosta, as labor secretary.  The Senate did not seem to care that Acosta betrayed these victims and protected a serial abuser.  In other words, everyone was protected–the powerful Johns, Epstein, the prosecutors–just not the victims who were never consulted before Epstein got his sweetheart deal.

After the deal, it was revealed that not only did Clinton take the “Lolita Express” more than previously stated but that he notably told his Secret Service details not to come on the trips to what some called “Orgy Island.” Clinton was not the only fan of Epstein.  President Donald Trump referred to him as a “terrific guy” in 2002, saying that “he’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

Epstein will now be reportedly charged with one count of sex trafficking of minors and one count of conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking of minors. Those charges could produce a sentence of 45 years in prison if Epstein were convicted.

    2. New evidence NOT available in Epstein’s Florida case. Pam Bondy has explained what happened and it changes the appearance the news media is presenting today. The case was taken to a Grand Jury where mostly the evidence favorable to the prosecutor was presented. The Grand Jury only provided one indictment and from prior history there was a good chance that Epstein could completely get off and be back on the street. They chose the deal of 18 months because that at least made everyone permanently aware that Epstein carried the label of sex offender. It was intended that he actually serve the complete sentence. The new evidence can now use Epstein’s label as a sex offender against him. It doesn’t sound like Acosta acted in bad faith and may have done exactly what he should have done..

      The press is trying to get Trump but Bill Clinton is said to have been on the Lolita express 26 times and had all sorts of engagements with Epstein. Some reports indicate some seedy behavior that included Clinton even on the plane before it reached the isalnd. That is not so with President Trump who did meet Epstein but threw him out of Mar a Lago because of inappropriate behavior. It seems that when more is revealed Trump will look like a hero and a bunch of Democrats might be in big trouble.

      It appears the Democratic Party is starting to crack in many different places which is good because their behavior might lead to a second term for Trump and the Republicans gaining the House and Senate. Hopefully if that occurs the Republicans will behave better than the last time they were in control.of Congress.

  8. JT mentions Clinton 4 times but neglects the involvement of Trump in Florida and NYC. Trump was being sued by two of the women who were girls at the time of their rapes. Their lawsuits were dropped due to serious threats against their families.

    1. The anonymous plaintiff who was to come forward at the much- hyped a press conference arranged by Lisa Bloom ( which happened to be scheduled a few days before the 2016 election) was a no-show, but we have Lisa Bloom’s word for it that she was scared off because of “threats”.
      And now we have the word of “anonymous” that it was “threats” that caused her to back out.
      The anonymous alleged victim was initiated a lawsuit, dropped it, and was someone allowed to re-instate it after the statute of limitations had expired.
      She was “fronted” by a former producer of The Jerry Springer Show, who was presenting her story to the media.
      The woman would be in her 30s, possibly in her early 40s by now. She had not only had every opportunity to come forward, either via a lawsuit (hat actually went forward and was not filed, dropped, reinstated, dropped), and to the media.
      If in fact she was concerned about “threats”, she had a lot of time to consider that before doing these stutter-steps of on again, off again manuevers.
      So we have Lisa Bloom’s word for it that she’s scared- off victim, the ex- producer of the Springer show that this anonymous woman was a victim of rape by Trump in the 1990s, and now we have the word of “anonymous” here that all of this happened.
      There are reasons why, after a point, the media quit covering this and why it was a non-factor in the election, in spite of Ms. Bloom:s best efforts.

    1. tiered justice is actually the normal condition of humanity. in our anglosaxon (and all of the West really) we esteem “equality” as an idea of justice. and rightly so, as a norm of due process.

      Example of another form of tiered justice which is even worse: in communist run People’s Republic of China, where the “workers” supposedly took action to rectify the tiered justice of previous systems, now the “communist party member” and whomever has the strongest guanxi (network) and capacity to bribe the police and judges, prevails. it’s a shamefully unfair system which is why they have been demonstrating and even rioting in Hong Kong for nearly a month now afraid of the prospect of extradition to the unfair mainland courts.

  10. Turley fails to mention that the criminal case is being handled by the public corruption unit of the SDNY US Attorney’s office. That is very unusual and suggests that additional people will be charged. They will put pressure on Epstein to name names. If they have a solid case against Epstein, he may have to plead and cooperate to have a possibility of spending any time outside of a prison before he dies. The bail hearing will be very interesting.

      Fresh off a win after his lawsuit helped lead to Jeff Epstein’s arrest for sex trafficking, author and political commentator Mike Cernovich has launched a GoFundMe campaign to wage a legal battle to unseal deals made in sexual harassment cases involving members of Congress.

      Cernovich had lead the charge against Epstein, filing a lawsuit to unseal a large amount of files in the case that were previously withheld from the public.

      On the Alex Jones Show , Sunday, Jones went into these cases again.

      ie: In the past learned that the disgrace former FBI Comey has at least twice moved to cover up this Epstein ring, but people in the NYPD refused to let it die after they ended up with Weiners laptop.

      Now we’re hearing that the Secret Service is helping to bring those prevs/etc/etc…, to justice.

      SS knows they had to file reports & sign logs when they got onto planes & when Fm Prez Clinton pulled them off his detail.

      This likely goes to why some SS/NYPDs cars/homes/rooms are being broke into.
