Jeffrey Epstein Arrested In New York

Jeffrey_Epstein_mug_shotNotorious billionaire Jeffrey Epstein has been arrested on sex trafficking charges in New York.  The arrest comes after months of litigation linked to Epstein’s controversial plea bargain over a decade ago.  Ongoing litigation over sealed records recently led to an order to unseal, including material linked to Harvard Professor Alan Dershowitz who has denied allegations that the underaged girls were ordered to sleep with him.  Epstein is accused of trafficking dozens of minors in New York and Florida between 2002 and 2005. He will appear in court in New York on Monday,

I have previously written about the disgraceful sweetheart deal given to Epstein. The deal was struck by Secretary of Labor Alex Acosta and not only succeeded in protecting Epstein from serous jail time but protecting a host of high-profile friends including Bill Clinton who were regulars at his infamous island resort. The problem is that the investigation is not being handled by the Inspector General but the oft-criticized DOJ Office of Professional Responsibility. OPR is routinely criticized for its defense of accused officials, even in some indefensible circumstances. For critics, it often seems more like OPR offers more cover than scrutiny in controversies over prosecutorial abuse. Moreover, the Epstein scandal involves serious questions of corrupt influence by powerful friends of Epstein. Such questions require serious investigative measures. OPR is more likely to find that the deal was within the scope of permissible decisions by a prosecutor like Acosta despite being widely ridiculed as an utter disgrace.

Epstein was notorious for his infamous “Lolita Express” where he took friends like Bill Clinton by plane to his private estate on the Caribbean island of Little Saint James with young girls who allegedly were used as prostitutes.

Despite a strong case for prosecution, Epstein’s lawyers, including Alan Dershowitz and Ken Starr, were able to secure a ridiculous deal with prosecutors. He was accused of abusing more than forty minor girls (with many between the ages of 13 and 17).  Sasse is correct, the handling of the case is a disgrace but it is unlikely to result in any real punishment. Certainly not for Epstein who pleaded guilty to a Florida state charge of felony solicitation of underage girls in 2008 and served a 13-month jail sentence.  Moreover, to my lasting surprise, the Senate approved the man who cut that disgraceful deal, former Miami U.S. attorney Alexander Acosta, as labor secretary.  The Senate did not seem to care that Acosta betrayed these victims and protected a serial abuser.  In other words, everyone was protected–the powerful Johns, Epstein, the prosecutors–just not the victims who were never consulted before Epstein got his sweetheart deal.

After the deal, it was revealed that not only did Clinton take the “Lolita Express” more than previously stated but that he notably told his Secret Service details not to come on the trips to what some called “Orgy Island.” Clinton was not the only fan of Epstein.  President Donald Trump referred to him as a “terrific guy” in 2002, saying that “he’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

Epstein will now be reportedly charged with one count of sex trafficking of minors and one count of conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking of minors. Those charges could produce a sentence of 45 years in prison if Epstein were convicted.

      1. From the following linked article:

“Epstein’s personal little black book, which was leaked by an employee in 2009, contained 14 phone numbers for Trump, his wife, Melania, and several people who worked for him.”

        https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2019/07/how-trump-kept-tabs-on-jeffrey-epstein

Trump isn’t known to have gone on any trips with Epstein, which would have been out of character. “I don’t think Trump would go to someone else’s property or someone else’s island or villa,” Nunberg said. “He doesn’t even play golf at anyone else’s clubs.” But Trump did host Epstein as a guest at Mar-a-Lago, where he appears in photos in 1997 and 2000. Epstein’s personal little black book, which was leaked by an employee in 2009, contained 14 phone numbers for Trump, his wife, Melania, and several people who worked for him.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, President Trump dismissed his past appearances with Epstein, describing him as a “fixture in Palm Beach” in those years. “I had a falling out with him a long time ago,” he added, though he declined to elaborate. “I don’t think I’ve spoken to him for 15 years.”

    1. New evidence NOT available in Epstein’s Florida case. Pam Bondy has explained what happened and it changes the appearance the news media is presenting today. The case was taken to a Grand Jury where mostly the evidence favorable to the prosecutor was presented. The Grand Jury only provided one indictment and from prior history there was a good chance that Epstein could completely get off and be back on the street. They chose the deal of 18 months because that at least made everyone permanently aware that Epstein carried the label of sex offender. It was intended that he actually serve the complete sentence. The new evidence can now use Epstein’s label as a sex offender against him. It doesn’t sound like Acosta acted in bad faith and may have done exactly what he should have done..

The press is trying to get Trump but Bill Clinton is said to have been on the Lolita express 26 times and had all sorts of engagements with Epstein. Some reports indicate some seedy behavior that included Clinton even on the plane before it reached the isalnd. That is not so with President Trump who did meet Epstein but threw him out of Mar a Lago because of inappropriate behavior. It seems that when more is revealed Trump will look like a hero and a bunch of Democrats might be in big trouble.

It appears the Democratic Party is starting to crack in many different places which is good because their behavior might lead to a second term for Trump and the Republicans gaining the House and Senate. Hopefully if that occurs the Republicans will behave better than the last time they were in control.of Congress.

  1. Someone will undoubtedly do something more comprehensive about the ruined lives of Epstein’s victims, but here’s some detail about three of the girls Epstein molested and/or raped:

    https://www.vox.com/2018/12/3/18116351/jeffrey-epstein-indictment-arrested-trump-clinton-acosta

    Excerpt:

In many cases, the effects on the girls were devastating.

“You can’t ever stop your thoughts,” Jen-Lisa Jones, who says Epstein molested her when she was 14, told Brown. “A word can trigger something. For me, it is the word ‘pure’ because he called me ‘pure’ in that room and then I remember what he did to me in that room.’’

”The women who went to Jeffrey Epstein’s mansion as girls tend to divide their lives into two parts,” Brown writes: “life before Jeffrey and life after Jeffrey.”

Wild was a 14-year-old middle school student and cheerleading captain when she met Epstein, Brown writes. She later became addicted to drugs and served three years in prison on drug charges.

One woman who said Epstein molested her was found dead of a heroin overdose last year, leaving behind a young son.

  2. David Blackmon’s take on the Epstein indictment:

“Is it all starting to make sense to you now? – Are you starting to understand why the election of Donald J. Trump – a non-swamp creature with no ties to the Deep State – put the Democrats and establishment Republicans into such a state of outright panic?

In the wake of the arrest and charging of pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, does the focused campaign over the last three years by our fake news media and entertainment industry to normalize pedophilia in the public consciousness begin to make sense? As you discover all of Epstein’s relationships to not just the Clintons, but also to all manner of famous Democrats and media and entertainment figures, do you now understand why Hillary, after she was asked a few “tough” questions by disgraced sex abuser Matt Lauer during the 2016 campaign, scolded him that “we will all hang” if Trump were to win the election? Which, incidentally, he did?

Are you now starting to understand why Slick Willie issued that classic Clintonian butt-covering statement to the press last night? Because everyone needs to understand that an ex-President would not have issued such a statement unless he knows some truly serious, damaging information is now in the hands of investigators.”

    (…)

“Now, they also know all of that information is in the hands of federal prosecutors, and they no longer have Eric Holder or Loretta Lynch or Robert Mueller or James Comey in power to cover for them. That’s why you saw Slick issue that statement last night. It’s the setting of a favorable narrative that is now being parroted all across our fake news media landscape, providing cover in preparation for the storm they know is coming.”

To quote, Colonel John “Hannibal” Smith of A Team fame, “I love it when a plan (or in this case, cleaning a cesspool) comes together.”

    1. Let me fix this:

“To quote, Colonel John “Hannibal” Smith of A Team fame, “I love it when a plan (or in this case as claimed in John Podesta’s leaked Email, cleaning the $60,000 worth of Hot Dogs & the kids are in the Hot Tub) comes together.”

      1. Let me fix my typo:

“To quote, Colonel John “Hannibal” Smith of A Team fame, “I love it when a plan (or in this case cleaning up the Podesta/Obama cesspool: as claimed in John Podesta’s leaked Email to Obama that the $60,000 worth of Hot Dogs delivered & the kids are in the Hot Tub) comes together.

        Little clear wording, good enough.

  3. Jon Turley feeling mischevous today and drops Trump’s name in Epstein article. May Jon Turley is tired after vacation and/or just trying to stir up Shiite/clicks. Looks like tired Turley gave into the little devil in him today vs. the Mr. Smith goes to DC image he often likes to project. We see right through you Jon Turley, stop short-cutting/using cheap sensational tactics.

  4. JT mentions Clinton 4 times but neglects the involvement of Trump in Florida and NYC. Trump was being sued by two of the women who were girls at the time of their rapes. Their lawsuits were dropped due to serious threats against their families.

    1. The anonymous plaintiff who was to come forward at the much- hyped a press conference arranged by Lisa Bloom ( which happened to be scheduled a few days before the 2016 election) was a no-show, but we have Lisa Bloom’s word for it that she was scared off because of “threats”.
And now we have the word of “anonymous” that it was “threats” that caused her to back out.
The anonymous alleged victim was initiated a lawsuit, dropped it, and was someone allowed to re-instate it after the statute of limitations had expired.
She was “fronted” by a former producer of The Jerry Springer Show, who was presenting her story to the media.
The woman would be in her 30s, possibly in her early 40s by now. She had not only had every opportunity to come forward, either via a lawsuit (hat actually went forward and was not filed, dropped, reinstated, dropped), and to the media.
If in fact she was concerned about “threats”, she had a lot of time to consider that before doing these stutter-steps of on again, off again manuevers.
So we have Lisa Bloom’s word for it that she’s scared- off victim, the ex- producer of the Springer show that this anonymous woman was a victim of rape by Trump in the 1990s, and now we have the word of “anonymous” here that all of this happened.
There are reasons why, after a point, the media quit covering this and why it was a non-factor in the election, in spite of Ms. Bloom:s best efforts.

      1. Too many auto “corrects” to correct, but the alleged victim initiated a lawsuit, dropped it, “was somehow allowed to reinstate it “.

      2. Tom Nash

You are giving Anonymous too much credit.

Anonymous is a cross between a troll and a drama queen.

He is fun to read because we get insights into the fevered mind of a Pinkos, but don’t take him (her, it?) seriously.

        1. To the not-so-smart monumentcolorado:

More than one person posts as “Anonymous.”

          1. Hey “Anonymous” Give yourself some kind of moniker so we can distinguish you all apart. How about “Arsehole”?

            1. “Arsehole”

That ‘moniker’ is reserved for Bill Martin and those like him.

  5. Any Distraction but the Subject. = Tiered Justice = You. Are. Owned.
    Want that?
    b.

    1. tiered justice is actually the normal condition of humanity. in our anglosaxon (and all of the West really) we esteem “equality” as an idea of justice. and rightly so, as a norm of due process.

Example of another form of tiered justice which is even worse: in communist run People’s Republic of China, where the “workers” supposedly took action to rectify the tiered justice of previous systems, now the “communist party member” and whomever has the strongest guanxi (network) and capacity to bribe the police and judges, prevails. it’s a shamefully unfair system which is why they have been demonstrating and even rioting in Hong Kong for nearly a month now afraid of the prospect of extradition to the unfair mainland courts.

      https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-asia-china-48903709/hong-kong-extradition-protests-police-and-protesters-clash

so obviously some things are persistent challenges in any system and it’s best not to cry too much over it. just aim for the ideal and plod along carefully.,

      1. Eye on the ball.
Not this bloody projection/distraction from the point.
        b.

  6. Turley fails to mention that the criminal case is being handled by the public corruption unit of the SDNY US Attorney’s office. That is very unusual and suggests that additional people will be charged. They will put pressure on Epstein to name names. If they have a solid case against Epstein, he may have to plead and cooperate to have a possibility of spending any time outside of a prison before he dies. The bail hearing will be very interesting.

    1. @Praying for that.; Nation needs the Cleansing, hopefully to revisit it’s Root, see the Good & Bad.; Weigh it, hopefully renewzit.
      No longer holding@Breathe thru it.
      b.

    1. The filth crosses party lines, of course, but we’re in agreement about this:

“I hope the lid comes off with Epstein and this cesspool explodes. The scum will go everywhere.”

    2. Et al.

” I hope the lid comes off with Epstein and this cesspool explodes. The scum will go everywhere.”

      Most people hope the same.

Fresh off a win after his lawsuit helped lead to Jeff Epstein’s arrest for sex trafficking, author and political commentator Mike Cernovich has launched a GoFundMe campaign to wage a legal battle to unseal deals made in sexual harassment cases involving members of Congress.

Cernovich had lead the charge against Epstein, filing a lawsuit to unseal a large amount of files in the case that were previously withheld from the public.

      https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2019/07/fresh-off-epstein-case-win-mike-cernovich-launches-fundraiser-to-file-lawsuit-to-unseal-congressional-sexual-harassment-deals/

    3. These legal cases have been being put together for some time.

On the Alex Jones Show , Sunday, Jones went into these cases again.

ie: In the past learned that the disgrace former FBI Comey has at least twice moved to cover up this Epstein ring, but people in the NYPD refused to let it die after they ended up with Weiners laptop.

Now we’re hearing that the Secret Service is helping to bring those prevs/etc/etc…, to justice.

SS knows they had to file reports & sign logs when they got onto planes & when Fm Prez Clinton pulled them off his detail.

This likely goes to why some SS/NYPDs cars/homes/rooms are being broke into.

We’ll see where it goes next.

      https://www.prisonplanet.com/video-trump-predicted-in-2015-that-epstein-connection-would-cause-trouble-for-clintons.html

      1. you have to credit alex jones for saying that a reckoning was coming for the powerful pedos like epstein. seriously.

        1. Mr Kurtz,

I think a lot more of us are starting understand these child pedo rings are far larger, darker & deeply entrenched within the circles of power, as mespo is pointing out.

child rapes, snuff films, selling organs, blood & other body parts, satanic rituals & god knows what else those politicians, royals, church leaders & financiers are into.

At just after 12:00 pm CST here in 20 minutes on Alex Jones Show Tommy Robinson from the UK is supposed to be interviewed disguising the Islamic Pedophile Rape & Murder gangs.

          https://summit.news/2019/07/08/exclusive-tommy-robinson-to-request-emergency-political-asylum-in-the-united-states/

          1. well oky that bad stuff exists but i suspect various and sundry from all walks of life find their way into the deepest recesses of human perversion, including politicians and monarchs, but the lowest of society abuse children too , and all sorts of creepers in between. it’s always a shock when it comes out. where’s the sustained effort to protect children from politicians is the simpler darker scandal, but like a lot of problems, the shock of the news has no sustained follow up to rectify.

            meanwhile speaking of alex jones

      1. I don’t know about run by Satan, that’s a stretch

but during Vatican II it was strongly influenced by John Courtney Murray a close associate of Time Life publisher and CIA associate Henry Luce. read about it here. this is not a conspiracy theory book this is a serious historical analysis

        https://www.amazon.com/John-Courtney-Murray-American-Proposition/dp/0929891155

the American proposition referred to is essentially that the secular state was the ideal and not the confessional state. the confessional state was the former dogmatic position which has now been um how do you say, “updated for contemporary times”

    4. Here’s an example of a guy who was a rumoured pedophile and his clique of rich NYC Democrat donors kept him ensconced in his august position for decades after a suppressed investigation

James Levine, NY Met conductor for 40 years, notorious pedophile

      https://www.vulture.com/2017/12/the-met-may-not-survive-the-james-levine-disgrace.html

This was an “open secret” well known in the performing arts community. I know because I heard about it lets see back in 97 or so? Trust me I’m not a performing artist either.

recent story about his pathetic attempt at reprisals, his weak defamation claims getting dismissed

      https://www.npr.org/2019/03/27/707147886/majority-of-james-levines-defamation-claims-against-met-opera-dismissed

again, there are more like James Levine still in place. we shall see! let the purge begin

      1. I was admonished by the one who told me, not to say anything about it. For fear of such person losing their job. And what could i say anyhow, the facts were third hand hearsay. I had nothing i could report and my source would have been easily guessed at the time. So I kept my yap shut!
        That’s how it works!

I noticed however that there was a fiction book floating around out there which had a fictionalized form of the incidents that was possible to analogize to the real perp. So yeah it was pretty well known.

      2. “let the purge begin”

Kurtz, I don’t care if people get what is coming to them but in every purge innocents are taken to the land of Hell and never did anything to warrant it.

Think, as a lawyer and one who likely defended guilty people, in part you may have done so because our society will let the guilty escape punishment to protect those accused that are innocent. A purge ends up being exactly the opposite.

        1. due process should be afforded to all accused persons of course

then after that let the strong punishments begin

          1. Purges don’t understand the meaning behind ‘due process’.This is similart to Turley’s new post where many don’t understand the meaning behind ‘free speech’. Both protect the individual, you and I, whether we agree with one another or not.

            1. purges often respect the forms of due process. purges are happening in the justice system all the time. they only get the name “purge” when historians or newspapers call them that. but selective prosecutions and “law enforcement priorities” and “strategic initiatives” emerging from elected officials are integral to our system. i only call them purges to arouse conversation

some “law enforcement priorities” are just wonderful until they gore the wrong ox. then they are called a purge.

for example when they talk about purges in the USSR actually those were just discenible patterns that were recognizable in retrospect. at the time they were grist for the mill and not more unfair than the average phony soviet trial

so yeah. let Epstein have all his due process before he gets a taste of the punishment

        2. they’re trying to throw this train off the rails by implicating Trump because he flew on the creeper’s jet one single time. that won’t work. they’re also trying to implicate Dersh because he had a closer association with Epstein. that won’t work either. I don’t believe Dersh is a creeper for a second. lawyers can be smeared by association with their clients, the fake news media does that all the time, but for a lawyer like me I never buy it.

for example, i never held it against avenatti that he represented a famous porn star.

i just held it against him that he was a grifter who bilked his creditors and wouldn’t stop running his mouth off on tv just to get some free advertising, which has always seemed to me to be a violation of certain ethical rules

          1. A handy quote in sig, good list too, sharp.

  8. “Federal prosecutors appear to have resurrected a federal sex crimes case against the billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein by focusing on accusations that he sexually assaulted girls at his mansion in Manhattan — more than a decade after a widely criticized plea deal shielded him from similar charges in Florida.

“Federal prosecutors are expected to unseal the charges on Monday accusing Mr. Epstein, 66, of running a sex-trafficking operation that lured dozens of underage girls, some as young as 14, to his Upper East Side home, according to three law enforcement officials.

“He was arrested on Saturday at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey, after arriving on a private flight from France, two law enforcement sources said. The sex trafficking charges carry a combined maximum sentence of up to 45 years in prison.”

    1. hiding out in france like Roman Polanski huh great plan

the cool thing about sex trafficking charges is they can do civil asset forfeitures too.

that can put the pinch on a rich bastid fast
