Ocasio-Cortez: I Never Said Pelosi Was A Racist When Accusing Her Of Targeting Women Of Color

Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has risen to prominence for promising to tell truth to power. However, this week she showed that she could spin and shill with the best of them. Previously Ocasio-Cortez accused Speaker Nancy Pelosi of singling out four women of color. That would seem by definition a charge of racism. Now however she insists that Pelosi did single out women of color but was not a racist. At the same time, the “squad” is warning Pelosi not to do it again.

Ocasio-Cortez and Reps. Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley were interviewed on “CBS This Morning” by Gayle King. Tlaib chastized Pelosi again for criticizing women of color: “Acknowledge the fact that we are women of color, so when you do single us out, be aware of that and what you’re doing, especially because some of us are getting death threats. Because some of us are being singled out because of our backgrounds, because of our experiences and so forth.”

I am not sure of the “so forth” but the point seems to be the same: as women of color, these politicians should be somehow protected from such criticism. The “squad” as they like to call themselves has been attacking Pelosi and asserting that it has a different vision for the party. All of that is fair game and entirely appropriate. However, it also means that they can be criticized as “the squad.” Yet, when Pelosi responds with her own criticism, the members object that it is somehow inappropriate given their status as women of color.

There is no question that these members have been subject to terrible threats and attacks, including the disgraceful recent criticism by President Trump. However, they have chosen to advocate as a group and it is hardly surprising that they would be addressed as a group. Unlike Trump, Pelosi was not addressing them as women of color but a defined “squad” of members who are charting their own divergent path from the leadership.

Equality means that race or nationality of these members is neither a basis for special criticism or immunity from criticism.

What do you think?

  1. Important post. But equality is not inherent. One needs sometimes to enhance it. To nurture it. To create it.That is to say, that in order to fix it or creating it, encouraging it, one needs to grant special treatment or positive discrimination to certain groups or individuals. Many provisions or laws, deal with it. For example, one needs special treatment, for incompetent persons, in order to integrate them in works or employ them, otherwise, they wouldn’t be, even prima faice, eligible for no job.

This is philosophically or generally speaking so. Concerning that particular case:

I don’t really think, that they wanted to accuse Pelosi for being racist. Finally, she has just orchestrated that resolution condemning Trump and his tweets. What they wanted to say it seems, is that they need to be treated with more sensitivity, due ( or thanks ) to their colors. Is it special treatment ? Is it justified ? That’s depend upon personal point of view. Upon social perception. Upon the context. We won’t stay young here no more in dealing with it.

By the way, one may reach the mentioned resolution, here:

    1. They have a problem with the Democratic Party. Lazy and vengeful to play the race card. Ocasio is pretty. That is what has made the darling of the press I doubt she experienced discrimination as a cheerleader in Westchester Co.. Follow the Benjamins? Don’t even try to make that protected speech. Squad is popular, you want to sit at their lunch table. End of story.

      1. Douglas Holsclaw,

Read again my comment. Read carefully, for I haven’t mentioned any issue of speech,or protected speech or whatsoever their popularity, but analyzing what they have expressed or said concerning Pelosi. Just read it again. We won’t have any undue issue here to deal with.

        Thanks

        1. I am referencing a televised quote in the halls of Congress where Manu Ragu from CNN is told by Ocasio that “Pelosi has problems with young women of color. Ragu says, you mean it is racial, AOC Oh No! google, find the tape, judge for yourself. I think she is anti-Democratic Party, as Justice Dems have in mission statement, and YES she did “strongly insinuate Pelosi was ageist, sexist and racist” I don’t believe she is. There are more that 4 young women of color in Congress. Ocassio assumes that she speaks for them all. The press and young people like her because she is photogenic. She believes in Parliamentary Govt. which would take the Presidential vote away from Citizens. Even though the EC is problematic, Like when Sanders voters revenge voted for Trump, documented by the Washington Post, WE still want to Vote. You are like so many people that want to have a progressive profile, but fail to believe the words, recorded, of your heroes. Do the work. Research before you attack documented evidence.

          1. Douglas,

My reply to you, has been put to moderation. Maybe due to several links that have been put therein. So again, while separating the links in following comments to come right away. here :

Once again ( and last time ). Read well my comment. I don’t have any profile, neither progressive, nor, conservative or whatever that couldn’t be perceived from my comment.

Anyway, I didn’t attack any documented evidence or whatsoever, but referring to what has been written in the post.

What I have written ( related to your comment) is pure and simple:

I don’t really think, that they really attribute racism to Pelosi. They have denied it , head on ,according to the post itself. Finally, as written by me, Pelosi has orchestrated the resolution condemning Trump for his tweets , against them.

What I was rather attributing to them ( as probable, not conclusive) is demand for more sensitivity. Demanding more sensitivity from someone, doesn’t render the latter racist.

That’s it. Now, if you can quote to me, direct citation, of one of them, explicitly accusing Pelosi for racism, I shall in accordance ,reserve my observation.

But what I can present, is :

“Pelosi Calls On Omar To ‘Immediately Apologize’ For ‘Anti-Semitic’ Comments”

            And :

“AOC hits back at Pelosi for knocking far-left lawmakers who voted against border bill”

And other issues( like infrastructure and green energy ) that could be the reason , for certain hostility towards Pelosi.

            Links right away….

            Thanks

            1. This is a discussion board. I am not researching your term paper. Global warming? You are off topic. Your writing is a mess

              1. Well Douglas, get a grip !! First you were determined, but then, showing you some real stuffs, then, you write about ” global warming “?Let’s finish here and get it done. You are not in such league. All this, is far above your salary to deal with. You have taken hell of wrong shot.Trust your Christ.

                Be safe …..

  2. Rut Row!

It’s starting to look like the inbred anti-American Islamic nut job Omar may be about to be removed from office, sent back to land of inbred slavers, Somali, have her puzzy grabbed & cut off as is the custom & thrown on a slave block to be auction off to the highest bidder.

No doubt the price will be cheaper then hog slop

  3. I think the ‘squad’ believes that they should be able to dish it out but never have to take it.
Sorry, kids. Life doesn’t work that way. Grow up.

  4. People who vote for those four Naxis when they are up for re-election will be German American Bund. Look that name up folks– on Google.

  5. Ocasio and the other three in the Gang of Four are in essence The Bitches From Buchenwald. Google the name: The Bitch From Buchenwald folks. She was the wife of the head of the concentration camp and she took skin off of dead Gypsies and Jews who had been gassed by the Nazis and made them into lamp shades.

  6. OCASIO-CORTEZ IS CONTROVERSIAL

BUT REPUBLICANS MADE WEIRD COMMENTS DEFENDING TRUMP

When Donald Trump began running for president more than four years ago, most Republicans, or at least most Republican leaders, clearly saw him for what he was: in Sen. Lindsey O. Graham’s (R-S.C.) words, “a race-baiting, xenophobic religious bigot.” Criticism became attenuated as Trump secured the nomination, but then-Speaker Paul D. Ryan (Wis.) was willing to call out Trump’s attack on a “Mexican” judge as the “textbook definition of a racist comment,” and dozens of prominent Republicans withdrew their endorsements, at least temporarily, when the notorious “Access Hollywood” tape emerged.

Those scruples have eroded faster than the polar ice cap. On Tuesday, just four House Republicans — plus Rep. Justin Amash (Mich.), now an independent — voted to condemn Trump for telling four congresswomen of color, three of them born in the United States, to “go back” to where they came from.

In addition to the four House Republicans who voted to denounce Trump — only a few others have passed what should be an easy moral test. There were, to be sure, a larger number of Republicans lawmakers who criticized Trump’s comments but refused to call them racist or tried to balance out their criticism with attacks on Democrats. By The Post’s tally, of 250 elected Republicans in Congress, only 60 — about 1 in 4 — were willing to rebuke Trump in any form, however mild.

A far larger number — 161 — are too cowardly to say anything at all. “I have a long-standing policy that I don’t comment on tweets,” said Sen. Ted Cruz (Tex.). How convenient. But Cruz is an intellectual and moral giant compared to Rep. Mike Kelly (Pa.) who responded: “You know, they talked about people of color. I’m a person of color. I’m white.” Or Rep. Andy Harris (Md.), who suggested that Trump’s tweets were “clearly not racist” because “he could have meant go back to the district they came from — to the neighborhood they came from.”

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) had the gall to not only absolve Trump of racism but to also accuse the members of “the Squad” of being the real racists. Cheney’s chutzpah is matched by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) who complained that “our rules of order and decency were broken,” because House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) labeled Trump’s comments — though not the president himself — “racist.” So McCarthy and his fellow Republicans are outraged that anyone would dare to call out the president’s racism. (“This resolution is harassing the president of the United States,” said Rep. Dan Meuser of Pennsylvania.) With the actual racism itself, they have no problem.

The booby prize for moral imbecility is a close contest. I’m tempted to give it to Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) who tweeted like a “love it or leave it” bar-stool blowhard: “Montanans are sick and tired of listening to anti-American, anti-Semite, radical Democrats trash our country and our ideals. This is America. We’re the greatest country in the world. I stand with @realdonaldtrump.”

But, as usual, it’s hard to beat out Graham, who has gone from abhorring Trump’s despicable tirades to amplifying them. Doing his best imitation of Joe McCarthy, Graham said, “Well, we all know that [Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez] and this crowd are a bunch of communists, they hate Israel, they hate our own country.” There is, in fact, no evidence that Trump’s targets are communists or that they hate America or even Israel. But there is ample evidence that the GOP has suffered a complete moral and intellectual collapse.

    😜

‘4 horsewomen of the apocalypse’: Trump renews attack on ‘Dem Squad’

US President Donald Trump has tweeted out comments made by a Republican senator who branded the ‘squad’ of four freshman Democratic congresswomen who accused him of racism as “the four horsewomen of the apocalypse.”

In a fresh early-morning Tweetstorm, Trump posted verbatim Louisiana Senator John Kennedy’s comments blasting the women as “whack jobs” who are “destroying the Democratic Party.”

Kennedy claimed the group, which includes progressive firebrand New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, think that America “is wicked in its origins” and that Americans are all “racist and evil.”

The Louisiana senator said the women are “entitled to their opinion” but he believes they are “left wing cranks” — even comparing the elected officials to the “directions on a shampoo bottle” which people should “ignore.”

“I’m appalled that so many of our Presidential candidates are falling all over themselves to try to agree with the four horsewomen of the apocalypse,” Kennedy added.

  8. ARE TRUMP AND PROFESSOR TURELY..

    DISTRACTING US FROM BIGGER STORY?

There is some speculation in mainstream media that Trump’s attack on four congresswomen, including Ocasio-Cortez, was essentially a Hail Mary effort to pull focus from his onetime friendship to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

NBC reached into its archives and found a 1992 video which shows Trump greeting Epstein at a Palm Beach party he had hosted for cheerleaders of the Buffalo Bills. The video was part of an NBC profile on Donald Trump who was newly divorced at the time. Producers intended to show Trump as a swinging bachelor in his element.

In said video, linked below, Trump warmly greets Epstein. They are then seen checking out the girls and apparently discussing them in terms that makes Epstein double-over laughing. One could mistake them for best of buddies.

    1. so what? well known guy and not a convict at the time. trump was pointing out some full grown women dancing to him. trump’s normal, the creep epstein looked normal, but now we know, he is not. easy

the effort to drag trump into the epstein thing is despicable. let the prosecution against epstein go forward without the dems abusing the opportunity for another witch-hunt against DJT!

      1. “What a couple of creeps — Trump and Epstein.”

What a couple of creeps Anonymous and Epstein.

    2. A lot of people are at Mar a Lago for parties and other things. But when Epstein was found making inappropriate advances he was permanently excluded from Mar a Lago.

Take note Peter how your information is always lacking depth and importance.

  9. While we consider who is a racist and who wishes to protect America along with the violence from Antifa we forget another source of violence that Democrats are promoting where people are killed. We have to add these deaths and the violence to the Democratic side of the board which ran out of space long ago.

Peter keeps complaining that we haven’t provided him with lists of examples so here is a list.

Feds: Illegal Aliens Charged with Murder, Rape, Drunk Driving Released by Sanctuary State California

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) latest report reveals the length to which the sanctuary state of California goes to protect and shield from deportation illegal aliens charged with crimes against Americans.

Between January 1 and March 31, 2018, the sanctuary state of California routinely released illegal aliens charged with drunk driving, even after ICE lodged a detainer on the suspect. An ICE detainer requests that local or state officials hold an illegal alien until ICE agents take over custody.

In one case, a 25-year-old illegal alien from Mexico was arrested in March 2018, April 2018, and September 2018 – all on drunk driving charges – by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. In every case, the illegal alien was taken into custody, ICE issued a detainer, and rather than turn him over to ICE agents for deportation, Ventura County released the illegal alien back into the community.

Last year, a 30-year-old illegal alien from Mexico was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department for drug possession. ICE issued a detainer the same day, but the illegal alien was released. A month later, the illegal alien was arrested again and this time charged with murder. He is currently in custody though ICE agents fear Los Angeles County will release him again against their wishes.

In December 2017, a 28-year-old illegal alien from Mexico was arrested by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office for violating his probation. ICE issued a detainer, but the request went ignored and he was released. A month later, the illegal alien was arrested and charged with rape and threating a crime with intent to terrorize. Again, ICE issued a detainer, but the county released the accused rapist.

Days after being released, ICE agents were able to locate the illegal alien and he was deported from the U.S. months later.

One of the most revealing cases involved a 23-year-old illegal alien from Honduras who was arrested ten times by various California police departments between February 2018 and January 2019 and each time was released back into the community instead of being handed over to ICE agents. The illegal alien was repeatedly arrested for auto theft and burglary.

Similar cases detailed by ICE of California protecting criminal illegal aliens include:

On January 11, 2019, he was again arrested by the SJPD for Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail. On January 16, 2019, ICE issued another detainer, as of the writing of this report, believes the alien has been released and is at large.

Over the course of two years, California refused to turn over 5,600 criminal illegal aliens to ICE agents for deportation, records obtained by the Immigration Reform Law Insititute (IRLI) reveal.

Of these 5,600 failed ICE detainers, more than 3,400 were lodged against illegal aliens who had been classified “Level 1” and “Level 2” offenders — indicating that these illegal aliens had been charged with crimes like homicide, kidnapping, sexual assault, robbery, aggravated assault, drugs, and fraud.

California is home to the largest illegal alien population in the U.S., with at least 2.2 million illegal aliens of the roughly 11 to 22 million illegal aliens in the country residing in the state. There are nine sanctuary states currently in the country.

  10. I thought Nancy Pelosi was a racist before I didn’t think she was a racist.

    1. Yeah. It’s like being stuck between a ROC and a hard place.
      🙂

  11. “There is no question that these members have been subject to terrible threats and attacks, including the disgraceful recent criticism by President Trump.”

Oh, please. They’re as anti-American as Hirohito’s sketchy kid mustache. They are precisely so for calling anyone they disagree with racists or xenophobes. They’re anti-Semitic, anti-Caucasian and anti-anyone-but-them to the core and for some reason we can’t call them on it. If they need to find racists, a trip to the mirror store would satisfy them. Enough of the favoritism and kid-gloves. Say stupid things; get stern rebukes. And it doesn’t matter what shade of the rainbow you are.

    1. And it doesn’t matter what shade of the rainbow you are.

So there you have it: Peter Shill and Mespo are 2 colorful peas in a rainbow pod. What shades will you be using to paint your house?

      1. Estovir, et al:

In the Christian Bible, why was it when the great flood was over God used the rainbow in the sky as a sign to Noah was over?

Now does anyone really believe it was by chance the the LGBTP people picked the rainbow as a symbol?

  12. Discrimination and racism are rights and freedoms provided to Americans by the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Americans discriminated with military force when they conducted the American Revolution. If Americans cannot discriminate, Americans cannot be free. Freedom IS discrimination and discrimination IS freedom. Congress has no constitutional power to dictate whom Americans accept or reject; socialize with or ostracize; favor or disdain; live near or move away from; marry or divorce. Americans have the unalienable right to and freedom of speech, thought, religion, belief, socialization, assembly, publication, press and every other natural and God-given right and freedom per the 9th Amendment. The right to private property is not public property. The right to private property is, by definition, absolute or said private property becomes public property. The right to private property precludes possession or disposition of private property by government. Congress has no power to dictate to whom private property is sold or rented.

    1. George,
I’ve been preaching this too. With the right to discriminate, we also have the right to call people out on it. But yes, discrimination and freedom go hand in hand.

      1. I discriminate all the time. Tonight I discriminated against steak in favor of chicken.

      2. People must adapt to the outcomes of freedom.

Freedom does not adapt to people…

        dictatorship does.

  13. House unravels with rise of ‘Les Enfants Terrible’
    https://thehill.com/opinion/campaign/453483-house-unravels-with-rise-of-les-enfants-terrible

On Tuesday at 5 p.m., the United States officially embraced the rule of “Les Enfants Terribles.” Chaos broke out in the House of Representatives over a non-binding resolution denouncing President Trump as a racist. In an intentional violation of House rules, Speaker Nancy Pelosi made personal attacks against the president rather than craft a resolution denouncing his Twitter attack on four freshman members of Congress.

What followed was a demand to strike the House rules and an unprecedented overruling of the House parliamentarian by Democrats—an act that shattered longstanding principles.

In one week both parties have confirmed that they will forego any semblance of actual governance in favor of made-for-television temper tantrums.

This showdown on the House floor began with President Trump’s disgraceful series of tweets attacking the four freshman congresswomen, telling them to “go back” to the countries they “originally came from,” adding that they “can’t leave fast enough.” Like many observers, I condemned those tweets as shameful for the country and the presidency.

Democrats were right to pounce on the president, and more Republicans should have publicly condemned his remarks. But House Democrats overplayed their hand. Some, such as Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), called for an impeachment vote based on “bigotry”—an ambiguous standard that would gut the Constitution’s impeachment clause and negate other constitutional protections, including the First Amendment.

I think a resolution supporting the four House members was warranted, and a resolution condemning Trump’s remarks could have been worded to satisfy House rules. But Pelosi wanted a resolution that would denounce Trump as a racist and force Republicans to sign on or to trigger a floor fight.

House rules prohibit disparaging comments about a president or House members. The rule traces back to Thomas Jefferson; it allows for criticism of the government or a president but bars “personally offensive” remarks. Jefferson’s manual stipulates that this prohibition extends to any “racial or other discrimination on the Part of the President.” Indeed, the manual’s first page emphasizes this principle of “order” and “decency” in legislative debates. House Rule XXII, Clause 1(B) reflects this rule from the earliest days of the republic and requires that remarks on the floor “be confined to the question under debate, avoiding personality.”

Pelosi reportedly warned Democratic members that she intended to blast the president and that they should be ready for a floor fight over the violation of Rule XXII.

When she was challenged by Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.), she told all of the members that she had “cleared my remarks with the parliamentarian before I read them.” That seems odd, since Parliamentarian Tom Wickham proceeded to rule that the remarks clearly violated the House rule and had to be “taken down.” And House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) declared that “the words should not be used in debate.”

The House has consistently (if grudgingly) yielded to such decisions by the parliamentarian, viewed by both parties as the unchallengeable keeper of House rules. The last time that a House speaker faced such a ruling was Tip O’Neill (D-Mass.) in 1985.

Yet, Democrats proceeded to shatter that precedent and overrule the parliamentarian’s conclusion. Some 232 Democrats voted to dispense with the longstanding rule, then nullified the standard penalty of barring Pelosi from speaking on the floor for that day.

With this ill-considered action, Democrats enabled Trump to argue that they were not only violating House rules with insults on the floor but also refusing to follow the rules of their own institution. Indeed, Democrats showed the same disregard for rules and decorum that they accuse Trump of displaying in the White House.

It is perhaps fitting that a rule enforcing order and decorum should be the subject of this meltdown in Congress. There is no room for civility in today’s politics. Various liberal groups have denounced calls for civility and even supported attacks on conservatives in restaurants and on streets. Former Vice President Joe Biden was recently denounced for saying he tried to serve in the Senate with civility, even toward segregationist senators, to get things done; he was forced by the left to make a rather pathetic apology.

There is a reason why the House has enforced this rule, and it was readily obvious when Pelosi discarded it: Members shouted at each other as the presiding officer pounded the gavel, like a cadence for chaos. At one point, the presiding chair, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.), threw down the gavel and declared: “I abandon the chair.” The empty chair perfectly embodied a House now guided only by soundbites and a process that has become little more than a low-rated cable news dogfight. With only seven legislative days left, the House spent a day tearing its rules and its institution apart for instant political gratification. Such conduct may be thrilling to many in our “age of rage,” but it is a disgrace to the House of Representatives.

Decades ago, I arrived in the House as a 15-year-old page from Chicago. I watched in awe as members debated some of the most important issues of that day, from nuclear arms treaties to civil rights legislation. I came to love the House as an institution, a love that continues to this day. One of my greatest honors was, years later, to represent the House in federal court.

Years ago I was lead counsel in the last impeachment trial in the Senate, arguing the case for accused judge Thomas Porteous on the Senate floor. There came a moment when the Senate had to break to vote on an arms treaty. In the lull, I stood in the well of the Senate and the presiding officer for the impeachment trial, the late Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii), asked how I felt the trial was going.

I had long admired Inouye, and I told him that memories from my pageship flooded back as I argued before the 100 senators—but I couldn’t shake how small in public stature those senators seemed. My page days, I said, were a time when political giants roamed Congress, from Hubert Humphrey (D-Minn.) to William Fulbright (D-Ark.) to Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-N.Y.). They fought great fights but remained united in their civility to each other and their fealty to Congress. Now, I said, they had been replaced by petty, small people. Sen. Inouye looked sad and said he often thought about those lost times, too, when he entered the chamber.

I often think of my chat with him when I see today’s members dragging both houses of Congress into a race to the bottom. What was chilling this week is that it was the House speaker who knowingly abandoned House rules and forced a muscle-vote to override the House’s professional staff. What followed was a legislative debate that perfectly captures our rabid political times.

Of course, that is not what the Framers wanted in creating a “representative democracy.” Their idea was of reasoned, thoughtful leaders creating a buffer between the passions of politics and the work of the legislature. That buffer is now gone, along with any semblance of order and decorum, thanks to the rise of Les Enfants Terribles.

    1. This is what is so incredibly amazing about Trump: he is able to trick people into displaying their very worst selves, for all the world to see.

      Transparency, indeed.

    2. I hope Turley quits warning the Dems, they’re in a purity spiral. Let them go all the way!

Santa Claus is making up lists of who’s naughty and nice

  14. We look forward to the US House passing a resolution in condemning Nancy Pelosi as a racist, common knowledge as we all know

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is right, Speaker Nancy Pelosi has a women of color problem

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez has it right — Speaker Pelosi is old guard. She does not like her new, high-profile women of color members nipping at her heels. She paid her dues. She worked her way up through the male dominated congressional system for decades to become the nation’s first female Speaker of the House.

The daughter of a powerful Baltimore Mayor, Pelosi was raised in the 1950s and came of age in the early 1960s. She remembers a time when women were like “Leave it to Beaver” or “Father Knows Best” moms, known for their pearls and perfectly coiffed hair.

    Bold young women demand change

Pelosi remembers an America where women were largely silent, and could advance in politics, but only through steady party loyalty, staying in their place, waiting their turn, and never running their mouths to the media. This is Pelosi’s formation as a politician and to a large degree as a person.

The solution here is not for Speaker Pelosi to silence AOC or condemn her. It is to listen and learn and find a way to work together. This is not Congress in 1978, 1988 or 1998. This is 2019. People of color have a voice. Women of color have a voice.

These women are members of the United States Congress. These women of color have a national platform that empowers them and indeed demands of them that they speak up for themselves and their constituents.

    1. The author is a knucklehead who caricatures previous generations. Stick a fork in her.

      1. Pelosi is disgrace and as corrupt as the day is long { like Hillary but she is no racists.}For AOC to even imply that she is will come back to bite her.Pelosi is protecting her own brand of corruption that the “squad” is calling out .Of course Pelosi is going to defend it and be critical of anyone who encroaches on the grift .Calling her racist for a “political” difference no matter how illegitimate is low and just a way to deflect any criticism. As Ted Kennedy once said if you want a friend in Washington get a dog. This squad needs thicker skin and stop with the bot who cried wolf tactics since it just makes the word “racist” meaningless and trite.

    2. More identity politics!!
      Doing Trumps job for him.

Mark Lilla’s eulogy of what he styled “identity liberalism” proves it. Lilla postulated that fetishizing diversity has led the left into a cul-de-sac from which it is no longer capable of speaking to Americans about their “shared destiny.” Instead, he averred:

In recent years American liberalism has slipped into a kind of moral panic about racial, gender, and sexual identity that has distorted liberalism’s message and prevented it from becoming a unifying force capable of governing.

Embracing “difference” may be “a splendid principle of moral pedagogy,” he argued, but it proved “disastrous as a foundation for democratic politics in our ideological age.”

Didnt Obama teach you being Black didnt matter?……What did Obama do for Black people again?……let the banks steal their homes and wealth?Commit genocide in Yemen?

    3. That article is typical extreme left wing dreck, “bold young women demand change,” PUKE!

Pelosi is not the nutjob that the “squad” is. This is not the first time I am saying this, a month ago I was telling you Pelosi was not the devil. Now look who’s saying she is.

Pelosi is in a tough spot, and she’s making some poor calls. However, she’s the leader of the Dems for now, and it’s a bed they made for themselves and so can lie in it.

Remember the rule of self control.
Either you control yourself, or someone else will control you in a way that you won’t like.

      1. “That article is typical extreme left wing dreck . . .”

Agreed. It was a boring compilation of easy platitudes and ill-digested pieties that all too often skulk into our terribly degraded national discourse under the name of “journalism” these days. This sort of writing should earn a C- in a high school journalism class, but it’s good enough for internet clickbait in 2019, for those who have the patience for flat, dead prose.

  15. “…t the point seems to be the same: as women of color, these politicians should be somehow protected from such criticism. The “squad” as they like to call themselves has been attacking Pelosi …., it also means that they can be criticized as “the squad.” Yet, when Pelosi responds with her own criticism, the members object that it is somehow inappropriate given their status as women of color.”

HELLO PROFESSOR. AWAKEN NOW TO THE REALITY THAT WE HAVE KNOWN FOR YEARS. AFFIRMATIVE ACTION, HATE SPEECH REGULATIONS, ETC. ARE DESIGNED TO GIVE “PEOPLE OF COLOR” A PASS ON THE SAME STANDARDS HELD AGAINST WHITE FOLKS

THIS IS NOT EQUALITY. IT MEANS THEY ARE SUPREME AND WE ARE BELOW THEM BECAUSE WE ARE WHITE.

in other words it’s all been a pious fraud to conceal organized looting of white people.

I know, I know: i’m white so my opinion doesnt count, because the legacy of racism
    see how that works?

    1. Mr Kurtz,

You probable know a bit about animal husbandry.

There are all kinds of breeds. Some ranchers raise Angus cows, some Holstein cows, etc.

I’ve friends that they like Toy poodles & one who’s passed liked to breed for Tea Cup poodles.

I’m ok with them liking their breeds, like poodle, but I’m a German Shepard guy.

I like that breed & I’m not saying we have to kill all other breeds of dogs.

In a sad way thank god for 911 as those that hate bigs dog got off German Shepard breeds azz as the dogs searches the dibias piles for survivors.

And just like with what happens to Toy Poodles if some of these races, like Islamic Arabs/Persians/Africans would stop Inbreeding

Then their collective IQs would likely rise about 70.

Then they would need their Victim-hood & Affirmative Action type crap.

What I suggest is some of them start breeding their females with the Chinese males.

Anyway, they call me a RACIST because I’m rubber, they’re glue……

        1. Remember what Christoph Columbus said?

” I’d rather sail off the edge of the world then have to deal with those ignorant azzholes! ”

          LOL;)

  16. I wonder why Prof Turley continues to support those 4 Anti-American Jihadies & all of the other Jihadi Democratic House members & their violent Terrorist group friends?

Look who Turley has tangled himself up with: Terrorist groups like Antifi, ISIS, Al Qaeda, MS 13, The 18th street gang, the Mex/Tex drug gang Zeta, Cair, Muslim brotherhood, plus an assortment of people/Pedos involved in trafficking small children, etc., just to name a few..

When do you think Prof Turley is going to Disavowal?

And the beautiful thing about Prez Trump he has caused all this American Hating Trash out into the public so all can see. LOL

  17. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/leahbarkoukis/2019/07/17/aoc-is-getting-a-gop-challenger-n2550180

AOC Is Getting a GOP Challenger

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) may be enjoying the limelight as a member of Congress, but there’s increasing dissatisfaction with the democratic socialist in her district, which is opening the door to challengers.

The latest to say they’re taking on AOC is Scherie Murray, a Republican immigrant from Jamaica who’s active in state politics.

“There is a crisis in Queens, and it’s called AOC,” Murray told FoxNews.com. “And instead of focusing on us, she’s focusing on being famous. Mainly rolling back progress and authoring the job-killing Green New Deal and killing the Amazon New York deal.”

The New York businesswoman officially launched her campaign for the congressional seat on Wednesday with a video titled “Bridges” that emphasizes her strengths in building relationships in the community and targets AOC as someone more focused on political stardom.

You deserve someone who will fight for you, not fight for the limelight. Someone who will build bridges, not burn them down. Join me, let’s #unitethefight, & build bridges together. https://t.co/vrfRk69hiN #NY14

    — Scherie Murray (@ScherieMurray) July 17, 2019
“Your representative in Washington chooses self-promotion over service, conflict over constituents, resistance over assistance,” Murray says in the video. “Queens and the Bronx needs someone who will create jobs instead of turning them away.”

She adds: “You deserve someone fighting for you, not fighting for the limelight.”

A number of Republicans have already filed to run for the seat, including “former police officer John Cummings, medical journalist Ruth Papazian, construction contractor Miguel Hernandez and entrepreneur Antoine Tucker,” according to FoxNews.com.

Any Republican will face long odds at winning, however, as New York’s 14th congressional district is solidly blue.

    Murray is confident nevertheless.

“A Republican can win the district,” she told FoxNews.com. “There is an absolute path to victory when you look at a general election campaign.”

      1. I also wish her good luck. Also, good luck to AOC in trying to play the race card. The better hope, though, is for a sane Democrat (if any of those rare birds will come out of hiding) to challenge AOC in the primary. I just don’t see a Republican winning that district.

      2. I have no familiarity with the sentiment of residents in AOC’s district, but a woman from Jamaica who has tapped AOC’s penchant for the limelight is a very strong rebuke to her antics. I hope she wins if nothing else to rid us of the narcissist that she and the other 3 womyn are: all narcissists.
