Beto O’Rourke Accuses Fox News of Spreading The “Seeds of Terror”

As the Democratic presidential race gets more crowded and frantic, the rhetoric is rising. As with some of President Trump’s comments, one can dismiss much of these comments as irresponsible efforts to trigger a base of voters. However, some comments raises more troubling issues. That was the case with Beto O’Rourke’s comments on the media. O’Rourke accused conservative media of being the mouthpieces of terrrorism — an attack every bit as chilling as Trump’s calling the media the “enemy of the people.”

O’Rourke was pushing the effort to tie Trump and conservatives to the recent massacres. I have previously criticized that effort, but this goes beyond other candidates by a great measure.

“When President Donald Trump describes Mexican immigrants as “rapists” and “bringing crime,” or refers to undocumented immigrants as individuals who “infest our country” — he speaks not as America’s President but as an emissary of hate. And his vilification and fear-mongering connect with those who are open to receiving it.

The seeds of terror we saw that August day are transmitted day and night on Fox News, the most watched cable news channel in the country. They are amplified by right-wing websites like Breitbart, and in messages forced onto local news broadcasts by Sinclair Media.”

It is equally concerning that the media has not responded as it has (correctly) to Trump’s attacks on the media. This is an effort to attack a part of the media viewed by Democrats as hostile to their platform and candidates — just as Trump has tended to attack media viewed as hostile to his side (though he has been attacking Fox News recently as well). This is not about the “seeds of terror” but the seeds of demagoguery in the United States.

    1. Beta O’Rourke is a self-loathing soysucker.

I agree with him that he is loathsome, though not with his reasons for thinking himself such.

  1. Dear Beto,

Trump’s behavior is evil and cruel. Fox does whip up hatred against Mexican immigrants and you should be calling this out. Their supports should think about whether it is really immigrants who cause all the problems in the US.

Since you hate prejudice against groups of people, I was wondering when you were going to call out the hatred against Russian immigrants and visitors to the US? As you know, MSNBC and CNN are “liberal” media who don’t seem to mind a prejudice when it gets them good ratings. You don’t seem to mind that either! I wish you and your supporters would stop to consider whether Russia is causing all the problems in the US.

Let’s see you be against prejudice, no matter even if it’s those dirty Ruskies, as well as Mexican immigrants. Further, you can stop being pro a surveillance/security/MIC lackey by calling things that are not terrorism, terrorist! You essentially agree precisely on that matter with Trump. Go figure-you’d almost think there is one bird with two wings as a political system in the US.

    1. “Dear Beto,

Trump’s behavior is evil and cruel. Fox does whip… ”

      Dear Jill,

I tried changing my tire but did it wrong. Can you help me?

      Beto

    2. Jill, no one has called out Russians as a racial or national group, but Putin agents, associates, and employees who have deliberately interfered in our 2016 election, fully intend to do so again, all as verified by intelligence and FBI agency heads who are Trump appointees and to this day are being protected by our treasonous president in broad daylight.

By Russian intelligence parlance, I believe that makes him an agent and you a “useful idiot”

      1. I don’t know Anon1, I think Beto needs Putin as his campaign manager. After all he spent 100,000 in facebook ads (many of which occurred after the election and were for Trump) and swept Trump into office. Clinton was spending billions!

Anon, there is no evidence of Russian interference in our election. Look to analysis of Bill Binney. Further, look at Mark Davis’ interview on consortium news this week, Ed Butowski’s lawsuit which reveals it is likely Seth Rich who leaked them through ebay. You can also watch this interview of Ed on Consortium News from a few weeks back.

As to looking at Russians with prejudice what do you call the constant vilification of Russians on “liberal” media? If you have time go to mintpress news mintcast to hear the interview with Russian, Yasha Levine. He will explain the answer to your question.

Because I understand the truth of what happens it makes me an unusefull idiot to the powerful!

Pease consider not falling for Beto or Trump or anyone else calling things terrorism when they are not. This will hurt everyone in our society. This even widening definition of “terrorism” will clamp down on free speech (which is what is intended).

  2. O’Rourke is about to be counted out. And has chosen to go out with no class.

These are Hail Mary plays by a guy who isn’t going to get the nomination.

  3. The best description of Beto, which I heard from the Left, is a Pretty Boy.

    1. No, you want to see a Pretty Boy? Justin Trudeau of Canada is a Pretty Boy. Beto is just a Skater Boy Doofus.
